Foxinspain Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Goodwillie? Going to Baardiff according to Fourth Official!
Fox92 Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Billy Sharp, please Sven ! Billy Sharp got 15 goals in 29 apperences last season. Got to be worth a shout. I don't think Sharp would get us 20 goals. He only managed little in a good Sheffield United team. I seem to think that at Doncaster, where he is a better player (other than Coppinger) he does score. Put him in our good side though, and I don't think he'd score as many. We need an all round, complete striker who can do everything, no? A bit like Drogba or Carl Cort. lol From Drogba to Cort.
funkyrobot Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Goodwillie? Yes, yes I have. The missus says I have anyway. Thanks for asking.
MPH Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 I dont get why people cling to this magical number of 20. Its purely psychological... its like they instantly become a better player than someone who got 19 or 18 goals for the season. There are so many factors involved... good supply,, playing in a good team.... alongside another good striker... and yes of course there is skill involved. Never seen a bag of cement score a goal... I just dont think we need to be hooked on the number 20 thats all..
Jobyfox Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 "Never seen a bag of cement score a goal..." Steve Howard got four the other night and he's only marginally less static. I think in a really good side the bag of cement could bag a few .... ...... as long as it could stay on-side!

FoxyPalace.com Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 What about this guy? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_7051536,00.html
Fox 4 Life Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 We need a proven goalscorer before the start of the season as although we have really firmed up at the back, attacking wise we are far less threatening than last season
Kent Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 SEB is definitely potent at Championship level. Sven'll sort it soon enough.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 Were missing someone right under our noses... He was ever present last season... Leon Crncic.
kingfox Posted 21 July 2011 Posted 21 July 2011 This is really all we need now. A top striker and maybe even two. Fingers crossed Maynard or Yakubu comes.
Rustyfox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Think Ebanks-Blake would be decent in our current squad. probably wouldnt have to pay as much as Maynard either. Also, what about Simon Cox at WBA. doesnt really get a game there, had a good record before he joined and still seems to chip-in with goals in their cup games when selected - again, would prob be cheaper than Maynard
David Guiza Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Qpr's top goalscorer last season was a midfielder who scored 19 followed by Helguson who scored 13. Both decent but nothing out of the ordinary, although they easily won this division. A 20+ goal scorer is not a necessity providing the goals are equally spread which is more than possible with the likes of Nugent, Gallagher, Danns and King in our squad amongst others. I'm not saying I wouldn't love a Maynard, Sharpe ect but it's not the end of the world if we don't sign someone.
ithuriel Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 If we want an automatic spot a top striker would make that more likely than not having one. At the moment we have an adequate strike force but other teams will not be afraid of us and we will lose a psychological edge. Kind of funny really, latter half of last season we we're powerful in attack but we're poor at the back, this season coming we have invested heavily in the defence but have added little to an attack that needed buffing up with loanees last season

dbtcity Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 I think we should have slapped a bid in for kenny miller!! I bet he will bang a load in for Cardiff

Our attack was stronger towards the end of last season than it is now. Looking at other teams that will be challenging for the top 6 let alone the top 2, AT LEAST a proven goal scorer is needed and a creative midfield player with pace. These 2 positions would IMO complete the the starting XI.
Lester LXXIV Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 When the fook are we gonna sign a decent bloody striker?! Sort it out Sven! (cough) Boozy rant over, night night x
