Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Just recently found out my wife is pregnant, now just a few days later it turns out its Ectopic and apart from the obvious which is she could of died if the tube had burst, she now has to go through a cancer treatment injection to "Get Rid" of whats left in her tubes. Scary stuff, has anyone out there had to go through this before?
ozleicester Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Tough times, my thoughts and best wishes to you both. Have a relative who had an ectopic, horrible time, but no long term ill effects.

Scary stuff, has anyone out there had to go through this before? Had a close friend who had one many years back. Was tough at the time, but she's gone on to have 3 healthy children. Hope the treatment all goes well, be there for your wife - these things hit women a lot harder emotionally than we men realise I think. And obviously, take some time-out for yourself too. All the best.
MikeyT Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Lots of luck to you mate. Best wishes to you and your wife.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Christ mate, that's rough news. Hope your missus is OK and you can put this behind you soon
ramboacdc Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 my friends mum went through it. it was horrible at the time but she eventually got back on her feet and had another kid. hes 8 now! me personally i had my girlfriend at the time miscarry and that was hard enough but we had a child in the end so its not the end of the road in that sense. best of luck to both of you and thoughts with you
Wymsey Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 You and your Wife have my deepest of thoughts. Hope her recovery goes well.

Scary stuff, has anyone out there had to go through this before? No but I know all about how testing pregnancies can be and you have my deepest sympathy. There are only degrees of achievement in dealing with ectopic pregnancy but I hope you draw as good an outcome as possible and one that leaves your wife recovering and the pair of you still feeling positive about the future. My thoughts are with both of you.
acooling08 Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Can anyone offer a brief description of what Ectopic pregnancies are? I've honestly never even heard of them. Hope your wife is OK.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 July 2011 Posted 22 July 2011 Can anyone offer a brief description of what Ectopic pregnancies are? I've honestly never even heard of them. Hope your wife is OK. It's when an egg is fertilised and starts to grow outside of the womb. Usually this is in the fallopian tubes, but it can be elsewhere. If left untreated death (of the mother - only in very, very rare circumstances have ectopic pregnancies been carried to term) is a very real possibility. Fortunately Carlito's wife is getting treatment, so let's hope not too much harm done.

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 July 2011 Author Posted 23 July 2011 Best of luck hope everything works out ok. thanks buddy

jonno24 Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Sorry to hear about your situation mate me and my missus have no experience in that particular scenario but we did have a stillborn child a few years ago and that was pretty traumatic. The best thing i found i could do is to be the man in the situation my missus told me that she really appreciated the fact that i was trying to carry on as normal ad that there wasnt 2 train wrecks in the relationship. But each person is different and however you 2 get thru this im sure youll come out the other end stronger
cambridgefox Posted 23 July 2011 Posted 23 July 2011 Sorry to hear that, best of luck to you both. When my wife fell pregnant with my 1st,we didnt know she was pregnant and i found my wife on the floor doubled up in pain,it was so scary. She was sent to hospital and they thought she had an ectopic,as i said we didnt even know she was pregnant luckily when she went for scans they found out it wasnt an ectopic.we were so relieved and shocked. Thoughts are with you.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 23 July 2011 Author Posted 23 July 2011 In short, thanks to everyone who has replied and wished us well, it is much appreciated. The Wife is home at the moment whilst the treatment is working (Hopefully) and we have to go back to hospital on Monday and Thursday for further blood tests etc to see how things are progressing. From what the regsitrar/consultant has said, it will be in the next two days where the pain / bleeding / nausea etc etc are at the worst points so im not looking forward to that although obviously i am purely concerned for my wife on that score. Sadly due to this and also previous medical difficulties, the honest answer is that my Wife will probably never be able to have children but that drama will be for another day. Anyway i really just wanted to thank people for their kind wishes - thank you all
