Happy Fox Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/Sport.cfm?id=27415&headline=Charlton CHARLTON want Leicester forward Jeffrey Schlupp on loan. But the Addicks’ hopes of signing the Hamburg-born 18-year-old are set to hinge on whether the Foxes are successful in landing one of their striker targets. Schlupp shone on loan at Brentford last season - scoring six goals in nine League One appearances after moving to Griffin Park in March.
Austin Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 I'd be more then happy happy to see him go out on loan if we get some strikers in!
Ric Flair Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 Really want Schlupp to make it with us, i'd rather us fook off Howard and Kermorgant and have Schlupp vying for a 1st team spot. I think if he is given a chance and get's a few goals for us early on then he could be lethal.

A season on loan at Charlton under Chris Powell's tutelage could do the Schlupp wonders, I doubt he will get an opportunity this season due to their being 5 subs now, so a loan at Charlton would be good for him

Plus if all goes to plan this season we'll be promoted and the jump from League 1 to the Premiership with no experience playing in the Championship is an even bigger ask.

Then we could loan him to championship club when we are in the prem or let him play in the fa cup and league cup

I'd be more worried about Powell keeping his job. Hardly set the world alight down at Charlton and last thing we want is Schlupp playing at a crisis club.
cc_star Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 He needs game time, something he may not get here, even if Waggy, Kermo & Howard are no longer with us. He's got the talent, he just needs the know-how and you can't teach that in one reserve game every 2 months I agree with ric flair though... feck off the deadwood first Introduce Schlupp around the 60-70min mark in games where appropriate, as like he says it's no good him becoming a good Lg1 player when at the end of the season he should be ready to break into our team & we'll be in the Prem meaning there's an even bigger performance gap for him to overcome

RowlattsFox Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 A loan until January might be a good idea, then we can assess where we are and how he has done, before deciding whether to send him out again or keep him. Would love to keep him but can't see making the bench, would rather Howard leave but then I'd also rather have Howard making up the numbers and getting 5mins every now and again, then have Schlupp doing the same.
sdb Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 As things stand I'd keep him here. He's our only pacey forward and can obviously play across the front 3.
Nunny Fox Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 I think its now or never for him at LCFC to some extent, with the owners giving us a huge transfer kitty we are always goin to be looking for new players ect, plus if we get promoted It will be infinitely harder for him to break into the first team as you would expect us to sign another prem standard striker if this was the case.
samstown92 Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 I'd love him to make it with us but the experience and first team games he will get will be good for him and he can come back to us and get in the team more

This. If we get in a goalscorer he won't be getting much game time so a few months in a good league 1 team may be a good idea. Also he might save powell's job

Now or never?????? He's eighteen years old!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 Far better for the lad to play league football, and gain experience. His time will come, with us.

bisto Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 Stop living in the past, Howard is no good anymore. is yhat why he scored 4 goals in are 4-1 win in sweden. and it doesnt matter what the opposition was like he did that in the second half, no one managed it in the first half.
