Joethemightyone Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Wow! Some people on here are braindead! How could you not want Robbie Keane? Who do you actually expect us to sign? I suspect those who don't want him are also the ones that say letting Sol Bamba leave is 'good buisiness' . . .

I suspect those who don't want him are also the ones that say letting Sol Bamba leave is 'good buisiness' . . . I think some are waiting for Sven to contact Roberto and borrowing Tevez for the season Keane is an experienced PL striker and would be an asset to any club in this league. SO what if he's 31. If we get up, he can be replaced. We should be looking for players to make an impact now and not someone who'll necessarily have a long term future here.

artursteppe Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 In an ideal world, I would sell to Spurs ( and Liverpool ) 'cos they over pay for players, the trouble then is that they always want more than a player is worth when they come to selling players. Lots of examples, Kyle Naughton being a recent one. Spurs are nobheads when it comes to their 'valuation' of their own players. Don't pay too much Sven, ever for anyone from Spurs, but if you want to sell anyone always sell to Liverpool or Spurs!

That's definitely not excessive.

Leicester City are weighing up an ambitious move for the Tottenham Hotspur striker, Robbie Keane. The Championship's biggest spenders have been pursuing a proven goalscorer to add a cutting edge to their experienced side and Keane is understood to be one of the striker's now under consideration. The 31-year-old, who spent the final few months of last season on loan at West Ham United is deemed to be surplus to requirements at Spurs, although it is unclear whether he would be prepared to drop out of the Premier League to pursue regular football.

acooling08 Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Where did this rumour actually come from? Have Tottenham, Sven or Keane said anything?

sphericalfox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Where did this rumour actually come from? Have Tottenham, Sven or Keane said anything? It's based on Keane saying to the press he wasn't averse, as stated by the press, of leaving London. This suggests that a return to West Ham not on the cards. Also he stated that he wouldn't disregard an opportunity in the CCC, but for obvious reasons would prefer to stay in the Prem. My conclusion is that it was 'come and make me an offer'. He's a viable option, unless someone in the Prem's head pops above the water and snaps him up.
Happy Fox Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Tottenham-Robbie-Keane-3million-target-for-Leicester-as-bid-to-win-promotion-to-Premier-League-article784149.html Robbie Keane is poised to become Sven Goran Eriksson's biggest signing of the summer. Leicester boss Eriksson is preparing a £3million bid for the Spurs striker and is confident of persuading the Republic of Ireland international to join his bid to take the Championship side back to the top flight. After missing out on Reading striker Shane Long, who has joined West Brom in a £7m deal, and having three bids for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard rejected, Eriksson is ready to offer Keane an escape from his frustrations at White Hart Lane. The 31-year-old spent a disappointing loan spell at West Ham last season and has been touted around Premier League clubs in an attempt to get his whopping wages off Spurs' books. Eriksson is prepared to offer the former Liverpool star a lucrative salary and take the total of transfer fees paid out for Keane - who has also played for Wolves, Inter Milan, Coventry and Leeds and had a loan spell at Celtic - over his career towards a mind-boggling £80m. "I always said if we can get a striker with a good goal-scoring record, we are going to try," said the Swede. "If there is a proven striker who can score 20 goals, then we will work hard to bring him in." Eriksson has already signed 11 players over the close-season. A bargain for that price
