Nick Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 If this were to happen and surely it's a big if, I have little doubt that Robbie Keane will get 25 League goals in this division and this would in my mind make us a serious top two contender (which right now we may or may not be) We need Robbie's experience of killing off games - putting teams to the sword. Who cares if in two seasons he's a sub in the Prem - we'll still get cash from sides who want him. What amazes me is the tweet from fourth official and the newspaper stuff - is this seriously going to happen? He's 31. Not 35. He's currently a player who I would expect to be in the Prem for the remainder of his career. This would for me be the biggest signing in my lifetime for the football club (after of course Barry Hayles) This ladies and gentlemen is dare to dream, stuff. This is the 'every day would feel like Christmas' mainline football injection. This would sell another 6000 ST's tomorrow to all those fans the self appointed elite call plastic. I simply can not believe that even if he were to chat with Svenis, have a medical, be offered some cash........... that this move won't get hijacked by a QPR, Stoke, Villa mid - low Prem positioned team. If we pulled this off it would be madness. He would tear this division apart.
superfox1980 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Would be an amazing signing for us. I can't believe some people don't want him ! Unbelievable........
dpjfox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Just the type of "big name signing" the club have promised/been seeking (surely makes more sense tnan Heskey, or Owen, even Yak), this would warrant a pitch appearance tomorrow!

That's one thing I can see happening, as soon as a lower table prem club gets wind of him being available then they'll swoop in and offer him first team prem football.
Happy Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 I think Robbie knows now, that playing first team football is more important than being a part time player at a mid table prem team, Trapatonni has probably reiterated to him like with St Ledger that Leicester City is a club with a lot of potential under the tutelage of Sven and is heading in one direction and that is up, I have confidence that he will be here next week
Bettsy82 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 If Keane signs and it is only £3-4m that represents good value for money for me. It didn't happen for him at Liverpool. He needs to come to a club who would worship him to instill some confidence back into his game. He is our 20 goal man and the talk of Simon cox aswell would be brilliant. If we can sign Keane and cox for the same amount of money we bid for long then that would be another brilliant piece of business by Sven.looks like the greediness of the Bristol city board is going to end up biting them on the arse oh well shit happens should have accepted our bid when they had the chance. Crossing my fingers that the Keane deal is done soon.
Happy Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Would Gally be willing to part with the number 7?
Happy Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 @RobTannerMerc Rob Tanner At last, a transfer story in a national or on Sky with some foundation. Sven interested in Robbie Keane
Callabinho Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Nicky Maynard, relatively unproven and suffered two serious injuries all ready, not to mention over priced. Or Robbie Keane, vastly experienced, proven goalscorer who has played all of his football at top flight level. No brainer for me....
Mickey O'Neil Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 I've got no mixed feelings on this at all. We could do with another striker. We've missed out on CMS, been held to ransom over Maynard and Adam La Fonza(!!) is on the 'list". This could be the kickstart Robbie needs. I'd take him, no sweat. Everyone must have thought Tony Cottee had come here for one final payday. He caused plenty of damage, Robbie may do also. We need to face facts that we're not as attractive as we believe.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Need to get him in before this weekend really. Prem teams play this weekend and when the usual suspects lose, at least one of them will go and put a panic buy bid in for Keane. Sunderland, Newcastle and Villa come to mind.

Sunderland have enough strikers, Newcastle likewise, Villa are my only concern but where would he start, Bent is their main man and that leaves us
Babylon Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Did those people saying "he'd rip up the league" say the same about Bellamy at Cardiff? Good player yes. Rip up the league? Not sure about that.
Soar Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 @Fourth_Official Robbie Keane should wrap up a move to #LCFC in the next week, Maynard is a no go for the Foxes
Happy Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Did those people saying "he'd rip up the league" say the same about Bellamy at Cardiff? Good player yes. Rip up the league? Not sure about that. Bellamy was half the time out injured if I recall major hamstring problems, no one is saying he would smash the league, but I am confident he will be our 20 goal a season man
marbelladave Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Never really rated him, but I have no doubt that he would bang in a few at this level. For what it is worth, met him briefly on a couple of occasions (charity events) and despite supposedly on his best behaviour I did not warm to him at all, could have been having an 'off' day but he came across as arrogant and a bit dense. Probably was not that impressed with me either......
Kingleicester Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 @Fourth_Official Robbie Keane should wrap up a move to #LCFC in the next week, Maynard is a no go for the Foxes How certain is this to happen??
blueblood88 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 How certain is this to happen?? Fourt official is very reliable tbh mate. The only source on twitter with any credibility IMO.
Babylon Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Bellamy was half the time out injured if I recall major hamstring problems, no one is saying he would smash the league, but I am confident he will be our 20 goal a season man Bellamy played 35 games scoring 11.
Babylon Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Fourt official is very reliable tbh mate. The only source on twitter with any credibility IMO. Except him getting Derbyshire wrong, Bamba wrong and others. He has started taking punts going on what the papers are saying, so treat with caution.
Nick Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Bellamy played 35 games scoring 11. Assists? Answer 10 http://www.imscouting.com/players/craig-bellamy/ Wasn't Bellamy used on the right a fair bit to create stuff for their other strikers too? Keane will be far more direct in our side - I still say 20 +
Ricey Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Just turned 31, thought he was older than that. He'll be a good signing but I'm not convinced he'll 'tear up the league', the Championship isn't THAT much of drop than the Premier League.
Burmesefox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 I'd take Robbie Keane over Maynard and Long. Think his experience will count for a lot.
