Source INTER'S SUMMER SCHEDULE Thursday, 16 June 2005 13:24:39 [FOTO Thursday, 16 June 2005 13:24:39] MILAN - Inter's 2004/05 season concludes with last night's Coppa Italia final victory over Roma. After several weeks' holiday the Nerazzurri are back to work on Sunday 10 July for a pre-retreat training week in Sardinia which will be reserved exclusively for the players and their families. On Thursday 14 July the squad leaves Sardinia for the northern Italian mountain resort of Riscone di Brunico. The two-week training camp in the mountains runs from Friday 15 July to Saturday 23 July, with friendly matches against local teams scheduled for Sunday 17, Wednesday 20 and Saturday 23 July. On Sunday 24 the squad flies from Verona to London, England for four friendly matches against Leicester City (25 July), Crystal Palace (27 July), Norwich City (29 July) and Portsmouth FC (31 July). After two days off, the squad returns to Appiano Gentile on Wednesday 3 August to continue summer training. There will be another friendly match before Inter's first competitive fixture of the 2005/06 season - the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first leg match on 9 or 10 August (draw to take place in Nyon, Switzerland on 29 July). Inter's pre-season continues at the San Paolo Stadium in Naples with the Birra Moretti Trophy against Napoli and Juventus, then it's off to Sweden for a week's training in the Scandiniavian country (until 14 August), to include a friendly match against a local side. The Nerazzurri then return to Appiano Gentile to prepare for the Italian Super Cup against Juventus on 20 August and the Champions League qualifying round second leg on 23 or 24 August. There will then be a final week's training in Appiano Gentile before the 2005/06 Serie A season kicks off on Sunday 28 August (Inter's first match is at home).

davieG Posted 17 June 2005 Author Posted 17 June 2005 OR NOT: Source Inter say friendly against City is on by andy mann Leicester City could be set to play a glamour friendly with Italian giants Inter Milan. The Serie A club have announced on their website that they will play City on Monday, July 25. However, there is a degree of uncertainty surrounding the game. City have declined to confirm and announce the Walkers Stadium fixture, saying all contracts and legal arrangements have not yet been sorted. If the game does go ahead, though, it will be something of a coup for the club and would see the return of former City man Roberto Mancini. Mancini made five appearances for City during a brief stay in 2001 and last season the former Italy international led Inter to third place in Serie A, securing a Champions League spot. Inter also won the Coppa Italia, the Italian equivalent of the FA Cup, beating Roma 3-0 on aggregate in the final. They boast the likes of Brazilian superstar Adriano, Italy striker Christian Veiri and Argentinian duo Juan Sebastian Veron and Kily Gonzalez. The friendly with City is being advertised on Inter's website as part of a four-game trip to England that will see them also take on Crystal Palace, Norwich and Portsmouth. Inter had been due to play Celtic on July 25, but the Hoops now face a Champions League qualifier on July 26 or 27 after finishing runners-up in the Scottish Premier League. It now appears City, who had shelved plans for a final glamour friendly before the league season kicks-off on August 6, have stepped into that breach with the prospect of playing Inter too good to turn down. Indeed, the friendly with Notts County, which was arranged for July 25, was cancelled last month as City examined the possibility of playing Inter. A visit from the Nerazzurri would form a mouthwatering part of Craig Levein's pre-season schedule, which already includes a home clash with Celtic on Tuesday, July 19. * City's Community Open Day is on Sunday, July 31 - not July 21 as stated in early editions of yesterday's Mercury.
