The Doctor Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Hold your head high again Richie ! - what do you mean again?
ScouseFox Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 How did Captain Fantastic play tonight? Justified starting ahead or other, better players?
accessory Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 How did Captain Fantastic play tonight? Justified starting ahead or other, better players? Let's just say his agent is unlikely to be overwhelmed with enquiries from clubs eager to register him for their Champions League squads..
ScouseFox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Let's just say his agent is unlikely to be overwhelmed with enquiries from clubs eager to register him for their Champions League squads.. So we're stuck with him?
The Doctor Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 How did Captain Fantastic play tonight? Justified starting ahead or other, better players? All I'll say is the captaincy probably isn't for him.
Narborough_fox Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Why are we still playing Wellens when Abe and Johnson can't get into the team.
accessory Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Abe had a mare last Saturday. Johnson presumably is not yet fit enough to withstand the demands of Championship football.
The Doctor Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Abe had a mare last Saturday. Johnson presumably is not yet fit enough to withstand the demands of Championship football. in his defence he had flown halfway round the world twice in a week and played for Japan in between. Good enough player, perhaps better than Wellens but he shouldn't have played last Saturday.
Simmo86 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Captain Marvel last night! Still failing to see those creative talents he's meant to possess!
Babylon Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Captain Marvel last night! Still failing to see those creative talents he's meant to possess! And King did what? Everyone slags off Wellens for his "Hollywood Balls", yet in a five minute period King did 3 "Hollywood balls" himself, yet nothing gets mentioned. For the record 14, 17 and 20 minutes... didn't even notice him after that.

For the record 14, 17 and 20 minutes... didn't even notice him after that. Look at my players ratings thread Kingy got bad ratings from me. Last night the midfielders we're all as bad as each other, but for wherethefoxisthat to come on here and make out Wellens had any sort of postive impact on our play last night is laughable. When people stop talking Wellens up as our best midfield and our best creative talent I'll get off his back because I'm not seeing any of that on the pitch.
Ric Flair Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Has Wellens been captain of previous sides? He doesn't strike me as captain material and that's nothing to do with how I rate him as a player, which everyone of you will know I think he flatters to deceive.
Roy Cropper Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can anyone give me one positive attribute Wellens brings to the team? On your marks..... Get set.... Go!
Simmo86 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can anyone give me one positive attribute Wellens brings to the team? On your marks..... Get set.... Go! PASSSSSSSSSHHHUNNN
The Doctor Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can anyone give me one positive attribute Wellens brings to the team? On your marks..... Get set.... Go! he makes other players look better by comparison, that's a gift.
Roy Cropper Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 he makes other players look better by comparison, that's a gift. Theres one. Any more?
Walshie is God Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Can anyone give me one positive attribute Wellens brings to the team? On your marks..... Get set.... Go! Doesn't panic on the ball - however maybe after the mills debacle last night, Wellens may be checking for splinters in his bum on Saturday!

Roy Cropper Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Doesn't panic on the ball - however maybe after the mills debacle last night, Wellens may be checking for splinters in his bum on Saturday! Also known as removing any momentum from a decent attack, turning his back on goal then falling on his fat arse to try and win a free kick.
Simo86 Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Also known as removing any momentum from a decent attack, turning his back on goal then falling on his fat arse to try and win a free kick. That's his signature move! He's also the oppositions best player for stopping counter attacks.
Babylon Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 and where was Wellens supposed leadership? What do you want him to do? I think people overplay the role of a captain, we have enough people on the pitch with enough experience. When the players needed geeing up where was he? Maybe you blinked, I saw him shouting at people. Maybe you thought he was being abusive rather than trying to get people to do their job. Why didn't he go and have a word with SSL after his howler to encourage him? SSL isn't an 18 year old, he's an experienced international. Where was his sense of urgency? Looked more urgent than most out there.
marbelladave Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 And King did what? Everyone slags off Wellens for his "Hollywood Balls", yet in a five minute period King did 3 "Hollywood balls" himself, yet nothing gets mentioned. For the record 14, 17 and 20 minutes... didn't even notice him after that. Agreed..... However no-one in their right mind would say that King is a 'proper' attacking mudfielder, let alone a playmaker, why he continues to be asked to play such a forward role is beyond me, it even impacts negatively on his goalscoring. Wellens, if he has a contribution to make, is as the playmaker. He does have some passing ability so needs to get forward and use it, if he can quicken up his game and do better with his delivery he might, just, be worth a place in the side.
Bugg Posted 18 August 2011 Posted 18 August 2011 Yet again Wellens tried the infamous "hollywood balls" last night when he should have kept it simple. Not trying to slag him off but I'm running out of patience with him and certainly don't think he's captain material(which he was last night), hopefully Michael Johnson will come and replace him soon enough.
