Guest Col city fan Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 @ Col City Fan How the fook do you know that he won't be fantastic for the rest of the season? Hope he will... Just as ridiculous as saying he won't have another bad game? See where I'm coming from
Simmo86 Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Sorry wrong end of the stick See what you mean now
1994fox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Absolute piss take! Get off his back. We need to get behind Mills. We need to get behind Sven. And we need need to get behind Leicester city football club. Frankly the attitude of some of our fans is disgraceful.
Yojoe36 Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 WHY IN GOD'S NAME IS EVERYONE SO NEGATIVE!!!!! :frusty: Mills has 1 crap game. The other performances he gave before were decent. So why does having a 1 off, make him crap. No No No!!! It's embarrassing to be associated with certain fellow "supports" of this club, as they boo the team, as if they've already been relegated. It's an utter joke. I'd sooner have support like Coventry, rather than have half the fans slate the team, because of 1 game
HoneyBadger Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Mills had a very emotional season with Reading last year, he captained them to the play off final at Wembley, that's a massive thing, 3 months ago he was their hero Hardly their hero, when we were trying to sign him most Reading fans said he was an average championship player and pretty unpopular with their fans, but everybody on here wrote that off as sour grapes. I’d never heard of him until we were linked with him, then all of a sudden everybody claimed he was the best defender in the league. I think a few people got carried away, including Sven.
HoneyBadger Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Also, he was only Reading's captain when Ingirmarson was injured, so all this talk of captain's experience and natural leader is a bit far fetched.
Bezzanator89 Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 God's sake. It's is home debut and he's put against his old club, he's been appointed captain and did you not contemplate that Reading are a decent side. Give the guy a break. That's all that needs saying.
easilee Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Another nonsense post... How the fook do you know he won't play that badly again? I don't know. It's speculation, hence the "I bet" part.
easilee Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Hardly their hero, when we were trying to sign him most Reading fans said he was an average championship player and pretty unpopular with their fans, but everybody on here wrote that off as sour grapes. Are you fooking serious ?!? Just lost ALL credibility right there..
MattyR Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 He was awful today but that doesn't instantly make him a bad player! Sven knows what he is doing and spent that money on him for a reason! Keep the faith!
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 Just because he had a bad game and didn't defend good doesn't mean he isnt a good signing! we got nugent to get goals, does that mean he's crap because he hasn't scored yet
HoneyBadger Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Are you fooking serious ?!? Just lost ALL credibility right there.. Have you heard of every single mediocre football league player? Mills seems to be one of those players that builds a name for himself without any foundation for it.
cc_star Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 I have seen three games where Mills has been captain (Cov, Rotherham, Reading) and I have a few points. . He isn't worth 5million. . He doesn't look like a captain. . People used to get on at Hobbs' passing, but Mills' passing is as bad/worse. He doesn't seem to talk (or talk little), or calm the players down or get them motivated. Yet, today I saw Wellens and Kasper talking more. I have faith in his ability, I liked him at Reading, but I don't think he is worth 5million. I maybe proved wrong, hopefully. I am, but I have seen little so far to indicate he is worth the money. Three games can shape what player he is. I also thought he could have opened his body up more when he conceded the own goal at Rotherham. Agreed. It's only been a while Fans love him because he showed Passshun celebrating Peltier's goal Vs Cov Don't know why he's captain, Wellens is the one always geeing other players along & Kasper is always shouting at our defence Hobbs looked to get rid of the ball quickly & people criticised him wanting people more comfortable on the ball like coronary-inducing Bamba & the others at the heart of the leaky defence. Mills is way worse than Hobbs at distribution Reading fans kept saying Mills wasn't even their best centrehalf but people on here assumed it was sour grapes Still it is only 3 games lets see where we are after another 3. But in the meantime lets hope we score a few more so he can show off his PASHHHUN again
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 i was a little disappointed today with Mills, but i put the fact we were playing against Reading mostly to blame. Mills will live up to his price tag
danny_foxes Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 God's sake. It's is home debut and he's put against his old club, he's been appointed captain and did you not contemplate that Reading are a decent side. Give the guy a break. That's all that needs saying. Well said.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 250k for bamba and 5m for mills.... i think we were robbed <_<
Charl91 Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Like I'v mentioned before - they were complaining on the Reading forums that Mills was a bad captain before the whole transfer saga.
Leicsroyal Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Like I'v mentioned before - they were complaining on the Reading forums that Mills was a bad captain before the whole transfer saga. Morning all, Mills wasn't necessarily a bad captain for us, Just through some of his own actions the fans never really warmed to him. He really did rile a lot of fans with his one finger salute, poor distribution and his general short fuse which not only resulted in far too many bookings but too many silly free kicks in dangerous areas. As said before and I'm sure you are mainly aware, you paid too much for him. He's a £2m quality defender. Our central defence last year consisted of one injured most of the season, one on loan from Blackburn, one young academy product a signing from Swindon who was untested at this level and Mills. If we had Bamba, I'm not sure that Mills would have been noticed as any more than a decent centre half, he certainly wouldn't have been touted as anything like the best CB in the division. In saying this, he will have a couple of MOM games for you, it's just a case of trying to keep that sort of form a bit more consistent.
the royal Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Here are some choice quotes from just after you signed him. Cue the odd Reading FC fans' comments: "He's shit", "Cost us too much", "overrated", overpriced", blablabla.Got the same aura as Freddy Flintoff when I look at him. Any flaws he's got, he'll make up for with brutality and confidence. Fook it, we've finally got a proper defender. Amazing!! Reading FC fans talk out there ar****! Never for one minute like them. Bunch of big timers. They think hes from Swindon, one of there rivals but cant accept he was there best player and now gone How quickly you turn! Give him time. He had some good matches for us and you have to expect some stick from us.
accessory Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Here are some choice quotes from just after you signed him. How quickly you turn! Give him time. He had some good matches for us and you have to expect some stick from us. Congrats on your win yesterday. How's the open-top bus parade going?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 My mate went to a Leicester legends night last night at Ravenstone. One of the questions was how highly Matt Elliott rates Matt Mills and given that he is worth £5m, what would Elliott value himself at had he played in todays times. Elliott said he thought Mills was vastly overrated and would value himself at around £7m!
themotivator Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 To be honest i was absolutely astonished at how badly mills was yesterday. Nothing went right from him and he looked totally shaken. an awful home debut against his old club. he has plenty of time to redeem himself though that much is sure. there is little point in calling for his head after a single game went tits up. lets face it, we aren't going to win every game this season so we might as well get this one out the way and smash them when we get down to the Madjeski. reading have reacted much better to their playoff defeat than we did and that is a credit to BM. Mills now has a big challenge to step up and perform. Its very early days yet and I see no reason why he can't.
