Roque Santa Cruz is desperate to end his Manchester City misery according to his father and agent - with Leeds in the race for his signature. Aproniano Santa Cruz gave an interview to Paraguayan newspaper ABC detailing his son's desire to leave the Etihad Stadium and the clubs interested in the former Blackburn forward.

"He has a contract with City until June 2013 and is available to the club but it is up to them what they do," Aproniano said.

"They are looking for another club for him because Roque wants to go to another team where he can have more chances to play."

Cruz's City career has been blighted by injuries that have forced him down the pecking order but interest in the former Bayern Munich man remains strong, with Championship teams being considered

"There are teams interested and if he had not had so many injuries there would be even more teams," Santa Cruz senior added.

"The second division is very competitive in England, with powerful teams who were in the top division and have huge stadiums, like Leeds United, but the future will be decided by Manchester City."

I had a post a couple of days ago saying pretty much the same - and speculating that with Sven's past interest in RSC, it was pretty likely that a Loan Deal (at least) or a Purchase could be happening. The Moderators deleted it - I know not why !

This is the guy I have been suggesting and hoping for for some time. We clearly should persue him as I don't think Man City would really hold us to ransom as they would be happy to get him off their books. Only risk would be other Premier League teams sniffing around. If Sven can get him he is the sort of guy who could lead us out of the Championship and be more than capablr of being our main striker in the main league. I am a little surprised we havn't been linkedin the press with him. Maybe that is a good thing.

Let's get him.

What I don't understand in all of this is Leeds??!

How? Why? Where? When? If?

Anyone seen the article Ol' Batesy issued yesterday?

I think he's been on Sven's radar for a while now and according to Rob Tanners tweet he (Tanner) suggests Sven may go in for RSC on a loan deal. Not sure why not permanently - maybe his fitness being the issue?

Bet you'd have wanted "one season wonder" Shane Long though eh ???

Yes but not for the £7 million quoted but I'd always rated Long since the days when Reading had Lita, Kitson and Doyle all as strikers.

Long is 24, Santa Cruz is 30.

IMO Santa Cruz has always been one of those players that is just unbelievably overrated.
