Mack Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 I've just seen the highlights from yesterday's game on the Football League show. The BBC are really doing a bad job of covering our games and it is really pissing me off. The big talking point from the Saints game? Bamba's push for the 3rd goal. OK yes it was a foul, but where is the footage of Vassell getting flattened in the box for a penalty that was not given a few minutes beforehand? Vanished! Then there is last week's awful coverage of the forest game and the suggestion that Kasper threw the ball away and "Into the crowd". The ball ended up a few yards from the centre spot. Have they got it in for us? Is it lazy or just plan old shit journalism? Whatever it is I am getting the hump.
MikeyT Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 I don't think anyone likes us to be honest, even before Sven and the money arrived. We don't seem at all fashionable.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Every club's fans think this. They can't show everything.
the_foxes_till_i_die Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 i know i just watched on iplayer, interview after match was sven, " yes its good to win a game like this!" i wanted to hear saints manager ramble on how they lost to that poor decision!! But on the other hand did any1 watch bbc live score thingy yesterday when Savage was talking about How we were robbed last week by the ref?
Vlad the Fox Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 I think fans of every club complain about the poor coverage their teams get. The problem being the programme isn't on long enough though some of the crap they put on could be cut, preferably anything with clem in. As for the punditry it sounds like they do it from what little highlights they show so don't have a clue about other incidents in the game.
Mack Posted 28 August 2011 Author Posted 28 August 2011 Time constraint shouldn't be an excuse for doing a bad job. If they are going to suggest we only won because of a foul then omit the penalty claim that is an unfair reflection of the game. I agree it seems Claridge is making comments from the highlights and nothing more, but seeing as he seems to hate us now anyway he was more than happy to stick the boot in.
Jace Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 i do like feel leicester have been abit hard done by sky and bbc this season but im sure most fans feel the same, ive even heard man utd fans with sky sports complain when matches havent been on
Goddard Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 We did not deserve a penalty yesterday. Every time they won the ball in my opinion.
Guest parky0607 Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Every club's fans think this. They can't show everything. But 8 leeds games manage to get shown on telly between september and november... Hmm Thats not just bbc btw, thats including sky as well, I hate them all.

I've heard so many people saying this and I've got to just say how much I disagree. I admit, he can be a tad over-critical at times, but I'd honestly say he talks a hell of a lot of sense, even if we don't like it. Everyone was moaning about him criticising Sven's signings before the season began, but he's not exactly been proved wrong yet. Certainly not where Matt Mills is concerned anyway. Still early days though, but I just wish people wouldn't subscribe to this "Claridge now hates us" mentality because it just isn't true.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Some people are so uneducated and biased when it comes to football coverage on TV it's not worth discussing it with them. This being one example.
MC Prussian Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 My only sour grapes with the FL league show is that, apart from the featured match, they don't really show a lot per game. I know it's all down to time constraints, but yesterday's coverage of our match lasted for a felt 20 seconds. Biggest joke was the interview with Sven which went like "In-Out-Done" and ended way too abruptly. In the end, I'd appreciate a single football show format running one hour for the Championship only.
Nick Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 The truth is, it's Sven's fault. The FL show have refused to give us extended highlights whilst we are playing 4 3 3. As the switch came after 35 minutes of play, a decision had to be made after receiving complaints, post last weeks derby screening - for which we were a featured match.

It's always 'everyone hates Leicester'. Get a fucking grip. My only sour grapes with the FL league show is that, apart from the featured match, they don't really show a lot per game. You do realise the interview would have been longer than that, and that it's been cut short too?
acooling08 Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Maybe all of the penalty shouts weren't actually penalties, I thought the tackle of Schlupp definately was.

Les-TA-Jon Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Fair enough they can't show everything but the thing that annoyed me was this they gave the impression that we only won because of the third goal rather than our great dominating performance in the first half.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 Errr. Yes. The edit at the end killed it off. And thank god they did.. Svens post match interviews are possibly the most boring ones on tv... Always felt this with England where, despite using some words, he actually never said anything meaningful In Sven I trust, but his interviews are dross...

All manager interviews are dross and never say anything worthwhile unless they're complaining about the ref at least Sven rarely does that. The programme would be significantly better if they didn't show any manager interviews as they contribute nothing on the whole. Better still cut out the pundit/expert opinion as well as they don't really add anything we can't see for ourselves. If the standard of manager/pundit comment remains as poor as it is then highlights and a link talk over is all we need. The BBC would save a few £££s as and could have probably continued with a deal rather than dropping out.

Star Soccer for instance, with Hugh Johns and MOTD with Jimmy Hill.. Used to just show the games, with commentary and then very little after match analysis? Can't remember if this was better than now cos my memory is crappy. Let's be honest though, the 'analysis' of matches won't go away... Just look at Sky... Tons of new computer systems and fancy graphics both before and after the game... In the end, the actual footage will virtually disappear and be replaced with ever more chat I fear
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 The BBC's coverage is getting worse. I like how it showed numerous Soton chances in the second half but didnt show Schlupp getting fouled in the box, Konchesky's first free kick which forced a good save, Fernandes' header which went close or the save produced from Mills' header from the corner.
somebum Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 I remember watching the old Saint & Greavsie show on ITV. Jimmy Greaves used to hate Leicester with an absolute passion.
rico Posted 28 August 2011 Posted 28 August 2011 i think you get extended highlights on the BBC or Sky website, only by a minute or so.
