Happy Fox Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 BertLcfc LcfcInfoMan Sol Bamba signs a new deal at #lcfc apparently.
RizLCFC Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Let's hope there's a clause in there that says 'No Messi moments in your own half', he's a great defender when he just defends!
lcfcliam Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 I don't see why people are not rating Bamba IMO he's been our best player this season, well close with Kasper
Lesta Legend Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 I don't see why people are not rating Bamba IMO he's been our best player this season, well close with Kasper Anyone with an iq higher than 51 can see that, good move he deserves parity.
Guest NGoloMode Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 he only signed for us last season.. wonder how big of a pay rise he got.
Izzet is God Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Chuffed...might mean Blackburn leave him alone in January.
paddy Agyemang Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 how long for? Good decision Sven i like it
KIRBYFOX93 Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Good idea 5 year contract would be nice, 15-20k a week i expect? And like someone else said keep the prem teams away with such a big price tag and a new contract...
AmyLGK Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 I will reiterate what I have said many times now - Bamba is a fantastic player! I really can't understand how people don't see this?!?!?!!
Rich Fox Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Can't see that being overly popular. Don't be stupid why are blackburn interested if he is so bad. Bamba will only get better and was our best player on Saturday I despair at some city fans.
The Doctor Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Don't be stupid why are blackburn interested if he is so bad. Bamba will only get better and was our best player on Saturday I despair at some city fans. He's not, but corky wasn't saying Bamba was terrible (I don't think).
BHAFC Braders Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 For what it's worth I thought he was your best player on Saturday and caused CMS hell - which is no easy task.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 He is a very solid defender, and I am delighted, if true, that he has signed a new contract.
Narborough_fox Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 If he plays like he did on Saturday thats brilliant news if he starts pratting arounf with the ball again I'm not so sure.
Criggers Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?214133-Sol-Bamba Some nice comments from Brighton fans. They seem mightily impressed. Check out that pic too! edit: just spotted this link was posted in the "Sol, Sol Bamba" thread as well.
SuperScout Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 The Club should wait until we know what league we're going to be in come May before they start dishing out contracts like there's no tomorrow, if we are promoted next year he may become surplus to requirements.
dannythefox Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Can't see that being overly popular. I'm sure that there will be more people happy about it than not!
Corky Posted 19 September 2011 Posted 19 September 2011 Don't be stupid why are blackburn interested if he is so bad. Bamba will only get better and was our best player on Saturday I despair at some city fans. I never said he was bad, I don't mind him too much and think he's had a good start to the season. But he has plenty of detractors within the fans who aren't convinced and wouldn't mind seeing him go, so it's not a universally popular decision. He's not, but corky wasn't saying Bamba was terrible (I don't think). I wasn't.
Leicester Lass Posted 20 September 2011 Posted 20 September 2011 Today's Mercury: Sven-Goran Eriksson has hinted he is considering rewarding Leicester City centre-back Sol Bamba for his impressive displays with an improved contract. He has been delighted with the performances of the Ivory Coast international and believes he has been one of the best purchases he has made as City manager. Bamba was linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium during the summer with reports suggesting several Premier League clubs were ready to swoop for the 26-year-old, and Eriksson has previously stated his desire to keep the crowd favourite. "It has been discussed and there might be some improvement (to his contract)," said Eriksson. "Sometimes you are close to a heart attack when he wants to control the ball like Franz Beckenbauer, but I don't think he made any mistakes at all last Saturday. He was fantastic. "He has been very consistent. I have made many other good buys, but he is among my better buys, of course. If he goes on like this for the rest of the season, very good." Eriksson has admitted he is considering make changes to the side that impressively beat leaders Brighton on Saturday for the trip to Cardiff City in the Carling Cup tomorrow. City head back to South Wales on Sunday in the Championship. Eriksson has confirmed midfielder Michael Johnson will feature and Steve Howard could lead the attack. Jeff Schlupp, Lloyd Dyer, Frank Moussa, John Pantsil, Neil Danns and Sean St Ledger are also set to feature, but Matt Oakley misses out with a back injury. "We are going to make changes but we would like to go through," he said. "It is not a distraction to the league and we want to progress. "We have a big squad and it is a good opportunity for many of the players who have had little opportunity to play to have a game, but that doesn't mean we do not want to go through. We really want to and we will do everything to prepare for the game in the right way and, hopefully, produce a good performance. "We are unbeaten now in five games in all competitions and it would be very nice to keep that going."
Dames Posted 20 September 2011 Posted 20 September 2011 Has definitely improved since the back end of last season although i'm not sure if it warrants a significant pay rise just yet.
