Guest Col city fan Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 I think we may do ok this season 'in spite' of Sven rather than because of him. We are blessed by Sven the product, rather than by Sven the manager IMO. Similar to Beckham really. He can attract fans, fellow players and publicity but you wouldn't really want to see him week in week out as your right winger. However, I've always said let's see where we are by Christmas time and then review it. I still feel let down by losing last night really. If we would have fielded a better side we would have gone through and kept the winning run going.

Guest Col city fan Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 I would Fair enough mate maybe you would but the point I'm making is that 'brand beckham' precedes Beckham the player these days IMO.
Corky Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 If we would have fielded a better side we would have gone through and kept the winning run going. Are you absolutely sure about that?

The focus is promotion mate, and we were extremely unlucky, Sven got his priorities right on this one.
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Are you absolutely sure about that? Of course not mate... There is no way to be sure.. But playing kasper and jermaine last night would have most probably tipped the balance IMO.
SuperScout Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Are the team staying in Cardiff till Sunday?
Guest Col city fan Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 The focus is promotion mate, and we were extremely unlucky, Sven got his priorities right on this one. I guess it's all about having your eggs in the one basket.. We may get promotion, we may not.. But a good cup run can be very exciting in the meantime.. Then again I, like many was spoilt by MON who was able to muster victories both in the league AND in the cup. If we now go and lose on Sunday I, for one, will feel let down as a City fan on both counts
B52 Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Hey, probably going to get a load of stick for this. I back sven all the way, but i'm starting to think that we miss managers who work well on low budgets? I mean NP, yes, things didn't work out for him here and left in award circumstances but he worked really well on a low budget and bringing in youngsters who enhanced the team and was always building for the future? *Cue abuse* Sven is great developing youngsters and handle "star" players. Important if we reach PL. I can understand the lust for a manager working miracles on a low budget but it's only important when we are in that situation.
Bugg Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 If NP was here, I don't think we would have seen the emergence of Schlupp. This is not a dig, just pointing out he always seemed reluctant to play our youth. King and Mattock were exceptions as they were already involved in the first team when he arrived.
step Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 There is only one Manager that can build a team on a low budget and that is MON, and as he aint comming back, I think, No I know, I would rather have Sven

If we would have fielded a better side we would have gone through and kept the winning run going. Sod the cup, we have more players than Cardiff. So giving them a good softening up for sunday, hopefully giving us more of a chance of 3 points is all I'm bothered about. Don't want any glamour ties in either cup this year. Just points
MC Prussian Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 The amount of threads circulating around Sven-Göran Eriksson like vultures is getting a bit ridiculous. If we didn't have the amount of cash injected into the club, would this question even have come up in the first place? The Raksiaksorns and the other members of the consortium see potential in our club. High potential. Sven has the experience and the wisdom to shape a team for the upcoming few years. It also makes for a much nicer package in case they want to sell again in the near future. Then again, they have committed themselves to the club for a longer period of time. So, basically a no-brainer.
Fox92 Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 This question is abit like, well I don't get it. Do you want the money and Sven. Or no money and a Pearson-type manager? I'm sure that everyone will want the money. We have already been through the times of no money where we had players such as Hughes, Low and Johnson.
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Mmmmm bit of a shame CMS went to Brighton.. Anyone on here who said he wouldn't cut it at this level then go and bury your heads in a bucket of piss...

Anyone on here who said he wouldn't cut it at this level then go and bury your heads in a bucket of piss... You can't 'bury' your head in a bucket of piss, I think you mean 'dip your head inside'. No shame in us not having him, Beckford, I'm sure will score goals once he's settled in.

Libertine Dream Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 Any quality defender will nullify any threat CMS poses. Bamba showed this and so did Liverpool midweek.
Raj Posted 23 September 2011 Posted 23 September 2011 We've had MANY managers who could do **** all on a low budget and we also had ONE manager who spent millions on players who were inept......i wont mention his name...PETER TAYLOR!!! SVEN is our manager. END OF!
