Promotion Still On?

Recommended Posts

I've recently moved away from Leicester for uni, just in time to see us twice in a row at the local pub on TV :D (I would consider that a sign of us progressing if Cov hadn't already done it)

The progression really is with the money coming in, the players who've arrived, the atmosphere and hype created. However, are we really playing that well?

All these players look good on paper but the football we play isn't fast flowing, attractive, attacking football.

When i think back to last year when Norwich visited us at the Walkers - as it was then, their football was entertaining to watch and you could tell they would push for promotion (which we now know they achieved).

So, I wonder how we'll fair or whether our approach will change. Maybe it will suddenly click.

The results so far haven't been bad at all and i'm still feeling very positive. I am just interested to see what you think to our situation and our potenital finish this season?

Jesus tap-dancing christ - we haven't even played 10 league games yet, I'm not going to say "still on" because that to me smacks of arrogance, but it's still a realistic aim.

Also, we didn't exactly play beautiful football under Adams, yet we got promoted. I'd prefer to see us play good football but to suggest that we need to ino order to win promotion is a complete load.

It's not on, the players haven't gelled. The Thai's are pissed and thinking about blowing up the stadium, as they don't want to there name assoicated with us. Sven is more interester in Milfs. Mills doesn't have enough passion. No Wingers. We need Ricardo back. Weale is crap. Nugent is injured and wont be back. Beckford doesn't know what shirt he is wearing. King is Welsh.

We're getting better every game. Still haven't clicked completely and we have had barron spells in our last few games, but there's been more moments in each game that show that the talent is there. After so few games no team has shown their brilliance yet so as far as i'm concerned we started the season as favorites and i expect us to live up to that or close to it come the end of April next year.

We might just do enough to avoid relegation.

Although we can make a slim evaluation of the players and the team tactics etc, there is still a long way to go and the league isn't shaped out enough yet really to say who is good enough, anybody can beat anybody; we've seen that over and over again. Of course promotion is still on, its still on until its mathmatically impossible.

Sven just worries me sometimes with his tactics and selection. I sometimes think we are not good enough to go up, or challenge, but other times, such as Cardiff away, I look at the game and think 'wow we were alright then'. That is all.

With three points for a win you could say it remains possible for most anyone but that doesn't acknowledge that we've already lost a lot of ground in a short time and still don't seem to have acquired the fast, fluid, attacking team necessary to win automatic promotion.

Cardiff was another two points thrown away from what I saw. They were so knackered and decimated in the end that we could have thrown everything including the kitchen sink at them. We could even have played 3-4-3 in the end. Or 3-5-2. But we didn't.

Times I've seen Ferguson's reaction when he needs a goal with 10/15 minutes to go. He'll send every attacker he can on if necessary. We just stayed in neutral gear and hoped we'd get a break. Nearly did too. But not quite.

And while we might be grateful for another defensive "nil" the attacking "nil" is a singularly poor return for our outlay. And for our prospects of automatic promotion.

Of course there's still time for improvement. But whether there's the will and the ruthlessness to improve is quite something else.

Of course, quite right as well. A win is worth 3 points and a draw is worth 1, if you have a 50/50 chance to win or lose a game you should take it.

In 5 games of football you would rather win 3 and lose 2 than win 1 and draw 4 whilst remaining "unbeaten".

We certainly should be taking more chances going forward in games that we are drawing.
