Wellens

We didn't no, but considering many fans on here were claiming he was one of our best players last season, I think it's a bit harsh about the amount of fans that are turning there back on him. Many people were calling for him to be captain not so long ago. Hopefully from watching the game he'll no the sort of game he should be playing from now on. Still though, I dont think he warrants a starting place any time soon with the form the others have shown but he's hardly worth getting rid of which i get the impression from other people's post.

Dont think we missed his silly pitter patter passing back to the goalie too much today ?

Didn't we destroy a team last season after he went off injured? Watford I think..... Could there possibly be a pattern forming I wonder.

Would he ever pull off some of the one-touch passes we saw today? Clever lay offs into space for team mates? I'm sorry but no! Wellens always takes then extra few touches which slow the game down

I said to my mate this bollocks would start.

You'd play Abe over Wellens?

Righty ho.

Fact of the matter is we've signed better plays than Wellens, he was cracking last year make no mistake, but he's been dogshit so far this season. He's slowed the ball down, he's been mediocre and he's lacked vision and any semblance of pace.

You can't compare Abe and Wellens, they give us something completely different. Wellens is no threat to Abe's place.

But Wellens is in direct competition with Danns who I felt was absolutely outstanding today and was a big difference between our four goals today and our complete failure to create chances with Wellens in the side.

Yes. Most definitely would. Should only bring him off the bench when we are winning a game so he can do his trick of slowing the game down. At least Abe understands pass and move.

I'm sorry but anyone who thinks Wellens does not deserve a place in our first 11 for me is clueless.

My opinion.

One good win he did not play in and you want to bin the bloke.

Absolutely laughable.

Absolutely. Abe has more talent than Wellens in his bonzai tree. If Wellens improves thewn i've no problem, but he's been nothing short of shocking the past month.

So he had a good season last year - what's he done so far this season? You play players on merit of form.

We're not saying can him entirely and sell him because he's rubbish, he's good enough for the squad, sure. But on current levels of performance he isn't better than any of the four midfielders who started today and he's probably now behind Johnson as well.

I just hope Sven shows a bit of bottle and sees this and keeps him on the bench even when the same braindead fans who think Steve Howard and Chris Weale are God and Jesus start shouting WELLENS, WELLENS should Danns or Fernandes dare miss a pass.

Abe has more talent than Wellens in his bonzai tree.

lol lol lol lol

I think you will find that a number of people on here have been calling for him to be benched because of the way he slows the game down. This win just enforces what we have been saying.

no need for this thread. Its a squad game and Richie will be back in the fold and will do well for us again. He IS a good player. Enjoy the positives of beating the sheep 4-0, no need to dwell on anything negative like this.

What really annoys me about Wellens is the utter dribble he keeps posting in the Mercury , when its obvious his performances have been absolute shite !!! rant over

King looked absolutely quality today because people were noticing his little runs enabling him to provide so much more. With Wellens in the team this doesn't happen because as i've said before he wants to hold onto the ball too long whilst he decides what to do and every chance of quick passing football goes out the window. It just ends up with a pointless hollywood ball.

You all know I love Richie. Fact. He is a great midfielder, one of the leagues best, he is technically gifted and some teams would dream of having him.

However, today I thought we were much faster. He is the type of player who stands on the ball and stops play, something that you need from time to time (Hull away, Vassell's goal for example).

No player, including Beckford, has the right to walk back into the team, and if fit, I'd like to see the same team play against Birmingham.

Exactly right... Abe was brill today but Richie has a part to play... One great win and the silliness starts. Great play today Abe but let's hope wellens can up his game too

Takes a squad to win the league of course

I stuck up for wellens as he's not as bad as people make out, but his absence today seemed to coincide with King really shining and being hugely involved in the game.

I think people said he slowed is down and I wasn't sure, but if those performances happen with him missing consistently then I'll happily say how right they were.

We seemed so much quicker through the middle, although we did go missing for 35/40 mins in the second half.

That's right so much more urgency in the middle, Derby didn't harm us much in that time though...

As for Wellens i reckon he will have a big role still but maybe it's time for him to have a little rest, just like others have..

Fook, fook, fookety, fook.

We finally start a game without Wellens, play at a greater tempo and beat the side second in the league 4 - 0.

And I have to be somewhere else.......:frusty:

So I haven't the faintest idea how we played so i can't write reams saying 'I told you so'.........:S

Bollox, bollox........ and more bollox.
