Over 40 applications with Curbishley, O' Driscoll and Keane being touted as the front runners.

That said, according to The Sun our new Chinese overlords have plans for a top continental coach........(note the article about Beckham) :D

That will be a massive step forward for O' Driscoll if he gets the Forest job.

+3 goal difference

I would rather O'Driscoll doesn't go there cos I rate him and I think he'd do fairly well with the players they've got. Out of the three front runners mentioned I think I'd like Keane, most likely to fvck them up and would make them even more unlikeable.

Royston will go to Blackburn.

When Steve is sacked they can just add an E to their banners when Roy struggles.

EXCLUSIVE: Forest want Clough back

Nottingham Forest are ready to make a stunning official move to bring Nigel Clough 'home'.

Forest will approach local rivals Derby for permission to speak to their manager about an emotional return to the club where he played - and, more importantly, where his dad Brian remains a legend.

Clough junior may be willing to accept the challenge, despite the fact that his third-placed Rams are flying high in the Championship while Forest are in disarray after the disastrous appointment of ex-England boss Steve McClaren.

The 'young man,' who grew up in his dad's Forest team of the 1980s, still has the club in his heart and could be tempted to make the move.

Clough is in the last year of his contract at Pride Park and compensation should not be an issue for Forest, who have pledged to get the right man after their seven-game McClaren mistake.

Forest are also still trying to bring Paul Hart back to the club in a senior role despite resistance from current employers Charlton, and want Clough to be the young manager who will work under him.

If Forest are allowed to talk to Clough, they would try to persuade him they have more ambition - and cash - to make a Premier League comeback in the near future than Derby do.

There will be huge attraction in the move for Clough, who has taken Derby a long way but may need finance to get them into the top flight again. Forest may have more potential.

The City Ground fans would welcome Clough like a lost son - and his appointment would give the club's under-fire board a publicity coup.

However, it would also be difficult for Clough to move between two bitter rivals.

Really don't get this Clough talk recently, would be the second job he's got from his surname if he was appointed. Aside from a decent start to this season, although that is in large part thanks to a very favourable fixture list, he's hardly set the world alight at Derby has he?! I think our battering of them last weekend showed that soon enough they'll slip into mid-table mediocrity or maybe even worse.

And Paul Hart. He's proved himself fairly inept in several jobs, managing to work his way down to Swindon in the process. Appointing either of these two would be an example of nostalgia clouding straight-thinking judgement in my opinion. Even Keane is only being linked by virtue of his playing stint at the City Ground. I don't think it's what Forest need right now, especially when there are two very reputable Championship managers needing a job in O'Driscoll and Dave Jones.

Far be it from me to stop them though  May they pick the worst man for the job so that he can carry on what McClaren started :D

Will they bollcks. The Mirror do write some tripe. NLN is not on the radar for the Forest job, and neither should he be.

Hart's apparently not coming in as Director of football (or something similar) as we won't stump up the compo to Charlton.

Last paragraph is true but must 'smart' a little under the circumstances:

Perhaps, as McClaren suspected, they're just not good enough.

A lot has changed in football since 1999, but Nottingham Forest FC still flatter to deceive. Spare us the nonsense about it being "a massive club" when the new manager is appointed and poses with the obligatory scarf on the centre circle.

Any news on the Chinese Cowboys?

Unless they go for Brian O'Driscoll.

Nigel Doughty"it was a mistake to employ him,i didnt realise he was a rugby player, perhaps i should have asked" :frusty:

What a great shout!

Hooters profits will be through the roof if he gets it.

I don't see what's so funny about Coterill...

He's a good manager (not that I'd want him at Leicester though)

Did well at Notts County where he had a fantastic squad for the division. Failed at Sunderland and Stoke, doing shite with Pompey.

Not the shortlist of a club with any great ambition in my opinion.

I daresay Forest fans' reassessment of their season's ambitions from play-off push to mid-table are accurate.

I don't think he's doing THAT shite with pompey considering the resources he has available to him.

Interesting that Cotterill and Robins are both bosses who have been forced to work on a tight budget in their careers, that and the fact they looked at Paul Hart who has worked with clubs in administration before suggests Forest are going to be busy cutting costs.

I hope you enjoyed the past two seasons chaps, it sounds as though as they'll be viewed as high points for a while.

Cotterill, MacDonald and Robins interviewed.

My link

Mark Robins is a good manager in my opinion. He worked with hardly any resources at Barnsley (before that Rotherham), and made Barnsley into a good team who were hard to beat. I do like Mark Robins, obviously played for Leicester as well, so best of luck if he gets the job.

Suprised to see Cotterill listed as well. Obviously has no resources at Portsmouth and is doing ok, but he did very well with Notts County. Don't think I would like him as our manager though.
