Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Neil Warnock is ready to head a massive £7million QPR bid for Celtic’s English striker Gary Hooper – in a transfer window bonanza.Warnock wants to beat off all rival bidders for Hooper, the ex-Scunthorpe hitman whose goals in the SPL have not gone unnoticed by Three Lions chief Fabio Capello. The Hoops will have loads of money to buy some top talent in the New Year and Warnock is keen to see off Leicester and Newcastle. Celtic rejected an approach from the wealthy Foxes at the end of the last window, but face an awkward task if they are tested by a Premier League club in January. Hooper, 23, could be tempted back to England, especially if he believes he can gatecrash Capello’s England Euro 2012 finals squad. And a £7m offer from Loftus Road would certainly interest the money men at Celtic after missing out on Champions League riches. Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley believes free agent target James McFadden, 28, would be a super signing. Ledley said: “I’ve seen Faddy play on the wing for Scotland many times – and he’s a great player.” Probably more bullshit from The Mirror, but thought I'd post it anyway.
I am Rod Hull Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Priceless reporting.... I`v seen less holes in Swiss cheese....
The Doctor Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDnXkFVEQ0Y First choice at a bigger club than us, who are hardly short of cash - there is not a hope in hell we'll sign him.

I wouldn't say Celtic are a big club. They play in the SPL, they would be a average championship side at best maybe just hack the premier league.

They are a bigger club than us and "maybe just hack the premier league"? - They are the most "marketable" club in the world and, if they were to come down south to the prem, they'd be a top six side within 5 years.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Celtic are bigger than us, let's not mess around.

EDIT: Not saying we are bigger than them because we aren't. Celtic wouldn't trouble the top half of the Prem though.
AdamN Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 The only thing linking us is the fact we apparently made a bid at the end of the last transfer window. By the same logic, anyone who now comes in for Nicky Maynard or Nikica Jelavic will also be fighting off competition from us. Bottom line - we signed Beckford. End of story.
He's not bald Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 EDIT: Not saying we are bigger than them because we aren't. Celtic wouldn't trouble the top half of the Prem though. Actually yes they would with the money that would be thrown at them if they became a PL side!

How ? Why ? Because they`re well supported ? Newcastle "cough cough"
Happy Fox Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 He is a great prospect, and I for one would be very pleased if we could get him

Rangers are bigger than Celtic. Neither side would stand a chance of Premiership survival at the minute. Rangers went out of the Europa qualifiers to Maribor, a team who Birmingham City comfortably beat. Check Celtics attendances this season, big club my arse. Big 2nd club with plastic paddies across the planet but no sustainability.

They wouldn't make the premier league, their squad is full of average championship players at best. They win the SPL or come second because the standard of football up there is shocking. Rangers > Celtic. Club size and all...
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Gary Hooper - i think not They are bigger than us, we are bigger than them, the others are bigger than the big boys from big boy land
Fox92 Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 £7million He is a good player, I liked him at Scunthorpe, but no way would I pay £7million for him. We could have looked at McFadden. Always liked him, technical player.

The Doctor Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 Really??? see below: I'm probably starting to sound like a stuck record whenever this issue comes up but anyone who thinks that Celtic wouldn't be a massive force in the Premiership is the most short-sighted, narrow-minded moron going. Look beyond Samaras, Boruc and Maloney a second. Who gives a **** what players they have there now? It's completely irrelevant. Where were Man City five years ago? Celtic are quite possibly one of the single most marketable clubs on the entire planet, as gimmicks go there aren't many more potent than the world's obsession with the Oirish. Hell, if any single club could cause a boom in American support for 'soccer' it'd be the Bhoys. Add to that the fact that they already have a phenomenal existing fan base, a brilliant stadium, a glorious history and a club culture of winning? They're an oligarch's wet dream. Of course their current crop of players are shit but that's not even relevant, that could all change in the blink of a transfer window.
gazfox9 Posted 14 October 2011 Posted 14 October 2011 see below: Sorry I'm still not convinced. They could be one of the most marketable clubs in the world, but would that still generate the income required to 'do a man city'- and break into the top 4? The only way I could see it happening is if they were to be took over by super rich owners, aka Man City and Anzhi Makhachkala.

The only way I could see it happening is if they were to be took over by super rich owners, aka Man City and that Russian club Eto' has signed for. they're an oligarch's wet dream you do understand what that means right? Oh and FYI their current owners aren't short of a few bob - they only reason they aren't getting in top players is because of the league they play in, if they were down in the prem, 1 transfer window would be enough to put together a team that would be a force to be reckoned with.
