Sums it up for me negativity from Sven its not the result that we moan about although it hurts, its the performance these so called top quality players put in , i`m angry at the fact we never looked like we wanted to go forward , no effort at all , i felt sorry for nugent he ran his socks off withought any support , if we had played well and lost i doubt the arguements would be this strong, but surely a display like that has to be questioned, it was like we settled for a draw even before a ball had been kicked . surely with the quality of these players even on a bad day we should still roll over teams like this, or am i being too hopeful .

unreachable Posted 16 October 2011 Posted 16 October 2011 Yeh they remained unbeaten, but we've only won 1 away. We have been negative in all but 1 away game, that's my point, they've not just played negatively away out of the blue today. Yes we got some draws playing that way but the opposition played poorly in those games, bar maybe Boro. Sven is sending them out to be too cautious away, that's why we are struggling to score. Today the performance was very similar to all the other away games, the only difference was that we were punished for a silly defensive mistake this time and then a poor challenge. Then we were chasing the game but of course we had lost the momentum and still couldn't find a cutting edge. You see what I'm saying? We deserved to lose today because we are inviting it on ourselves with this mentality at away games. Being negative can help you keep some clean sheets but ultimately it will backfire when you concede. If you have the momentum going forward and score some goals you can afford to concede, like against Southampton at home, we defended awfully but won, and they are a good side. Yes we got lucky but the point still stands. And when teams go 2-0 down most won't come back into it. In our last 4 away games, we've had 3 draws and a loss. If we had been more positive, we could have lost 3 and won 1 and we'd have the same amount of points. But if we were as positive as we were against Derby I'm confident we would have got 6 points from those 4 at least consdering how the opposition played, and that's better than 3! We need to be more positiv away from home, and it's blatantly obvious Sven doesn't agree. We have a much better defensive unit than last season so we do not have to be negative but we are anyway. I can see some merit in being cautious away from home but we lacked any threat when in the final third and our play from corners and set pieces is consistent poor. By all means "keep it tight" in the first half but make the most of your attacking opportunities.

Very lackluster performance agree with the sentiments you share, with regards to rolling teams over we should be doing better than we are at the moment disappointing to say the least away from home.

Absolute quality performance against Derby, possibly the best ive seen and then to play like we did today is just utterly ridiculous. People can say we werent that bad all they like but believe me we were. Totally uninterested, disorganised and no drive to go forwards and attack. Admittidly I think their penalty was harsh and the fact we didnt get one equally as harsh, BUT that ref didnt lose us the game. We mostly have ourselves to blame. I hate to say this but im getting sick of this inconsistency and im sure the thai's are too. Sven is on thin ice. We need 6 points this week.

I am now calm and have had time to reflect, but the same outcome we were so poor today it was laughable. We have to face the truth we have spent millions we should be playing better that we did. I agree with the plan B theory we looked void of ideas today the only positive is that we have an early chance to put it right with 2 home games coming up.

I think this game will stick in the mind of fans for a while to be honest because it was simply appalling. Its worrying that even on the back of a 4-0 win against a good team, that we can revert back to playing like a conference team at best.

I watched Watford Palace yesterday. Watford were like us during those four declining years before we were relegated to league one. Devoid of confidence, spirit and skill. We have to go a them on Wednesday and if we score early, they might crumble. Tunch, playing at CB for Palace, had so little to do he may as well have had a deck chair with him, but in part that was down to his reading of the game. Surely with Mills banned Tunch should come back to at least provide cover on the bench if SSL is given the nod? I am almost certain it won't happen, but i would like to see Dyer on the wing, and Beckford up top with Nugent on Wednesday. Time to drop Vassell down for a while. He's a decent enough player, but simply does not score enough goals. Probably ask Fernandes to make way for Dyer. Danns didn't do much today, but he was excellent against the sheep. Perhaps Wellens for Abe, but I'm not a great one for sweeping changes, or else we will back to the old gel problem!

We didn't look after the ball enough in the first half, we gave it away cheaply countless times, whether it was an aimless punt from Mills or Konchesky, or more or less everyone being sloppy with the simplest of passes. If we want to be in the promotion hunt this season we need to go away from home and try and win games, setting out for a draw is simply not good enough, and will see us punished like we were today. You cannot expect to get promoted when you only test the opposition keeper once or twice throughout 90 minutes, there is such a desperate lack of a cutting edge in the final third. I don't understand why Sven felt the need for 6 central midfielders in his 16 man squad today, I would've much rather seen Dyer on the bench in place of either Wellens or Johnson. Don't get me wrong, Lloyd isn't a world-beater, but he offers us something different. We are so boringly predictable away from home it's untrue, nobody today looked like they would be able to unlock the Birmingham defence. Peltier was the one bright light for me, everyone else out-field offered very little and simply weren't good enough. Nugent looked uninterested from the beginning, very strange considering his fantastic performance against Derby just a fortnight ago. Beckford's cameo summed up his Leicester career so far. Danns, Fernandes and King were largely anonymous. Konchesky's delivery was nothing short of woeful. Mills was absolutely stupid with that tackle, exactly what we didn't need when our defence was starting to look settled and tough to breach. At least 4 points from the next 2 games is what we need, but even if that happens, I get the feeling we'll all be left scratching our heads again after our game at Upton Park.
loAf Posted 16 October 2011 Posted 16 October 2011 im not enitrely sure if i was watching a different game to some of the people on here?! from, what i watched: 1st half: Solid, maintained possession, lacked cutting edge in final third, but put enough pressure that we had a good chance to slip one past them eventually. Not the most entertaining, but solid football away from home. Birmingham rarely, if at all, threatened. 2nd half: Birmingham came out the blocks, hit the post with an awesome shot (that KS had covered IMHO). Penalty was poor as far as im concerned, the camra angle from behind clearly showed Kingy touched the ball, other angles showed that the BC player certainly didn’t (although less clear that Kingy did). hard done by. Red, again harsh, yes mills went in two footed, but at the ball not the player who was coming in from a different angle, got the ball with feet low (infact at ground level) and made minimal contact with BC player and only well after ball had moved on, BC player didn’t have to throw himself at a player that clearly was going to get the ball. Certainly a bad decision after letting the BC player get away with the swipe at Pelts. After that we were always going to be caught short as we pushed forward to get back in. We had chances, didn’t take them. Overall, on another day we would have taken chances, not had a ref who gave BC anything that they fell over for (or sod it, the ref that we started the match with), and would have taken at least a point. Not as good as Vs Derby, but not a bad performance, just a bad result. Move on, and lets get ready for Watford.

What is all this ****ing bullshit with the long ball! Pass and move, pass and move pass and move . Vassell, Nugent, Beckford and Konchesky are all a ****ing waste of space! Why Eriksson paid £4million for Beckford I'll never know. We're 13th in the league and that is not good enough, simple as, no more excuses for Eriksson, this isn't good enough, he seems to be going for draws away from home and that in my opinion is a ****ing insult, message to Susan Whelan: any more continuous crap performances like this in the near future and pull the ****ing trigger!

Watched todays game on TV and I can't seriosly believe that SJE is held in such high regard on this board. He has been a money grabbing mercenary ever since he left the England job ( and some would argue during that time as well!). How can any supposed top manager have a budget in the Championship of the size he has and yet still produce a team with- - such a slow tempo of play - no midfield player who can carry the ball - no effective wide players whatever ( I thought we were supposed to have two players for every postion?) - no natural leader ( a la Steve Walsh/Matt Elliott)
