The first half was solid but Brum came out the blocks second half and caught us with our pants down. I thought Danns was non existent, Nugent had nothing to feed off and Beckford looks like a clown at present. Wellens improved matters when he was introduced but the lack of width in that team today was clear to see. The refs decisions IMO were correct so no blame to be laid at his feet. And again it was soooooo fookin borin Despite good wins at home, (positive positive...) our lack of adventure away from home indicates Svens reticence to go and try to win games certainly when playing away 13th in the division.. People content with this? Really? Honestly? And Nick... Rather than your continued efforts at trolling around, do try to give some sort of opinion on the game. It might be worth a read? It is still early in the season, still plenty of time to address the problems, but today and for the majority of our away games we have been below par, because perhaps our attitude and approach to the game has been wrong in just aiming for draws, we really do need to win away from home as well if we are to get an automatic promotion slot.

But we could have had a penalty, and Beausejour definitely should have been sent off before Mills was and that could have made things very different. Not excuses for us though, we were diabolical, had plenty of possession in the first half but weren't patient with the ball and frankly , we looked happy with the 0-0 until we conceded, when we suddenly realised we'd made a massive **** up by not trying to score properly.

Wellens played a good ball into him that he failed to control, and Beckford had a second chance which he didn't even try for, and Birmingham broke a scored. I do think we paid over the top for him. Not just based on his performances at Leicester, but other than scoring 8 goals in a good Everton team, he has mainly scored at League 1 level for Leeds throughout his career.

The whole business of playing 4 central midfielders across midfield worries me. I thought Sven my have brought in a left winger by now. You only have to look at the shit or non existent service our striker are getting to realize that wingers are ESSENTIAL it's not rocket science. To support this argument even our full backs deliveries were shocking forgot how many times konchesky delivered poor ball and Danns' corners were ok but not good enough. Never thought I'd say this but think we miss Gallagher if only for hi far superior set pieces. When Wellens came on he showed a composure on the ball and final pass that we miss but he's yet another central midfielder of which I believe we have far to many! Mills played well but can't for a second believe Sven would be happy with his over hit long balls......I was under the impression after Hobbs left that we were trying o avoid that style of play. So ugly to watch.....think Sven needs to have a word. Not going to talk about sending off or penalty as there was no argument but last thing I want to say is why did we change the bench so much from last match! Someone on this forum mentioned how well dyer and Howard played and how Howard is useful for plan B. Well plan B was needed today and so was Howard but for reasons only Sven will know he was not on the bench.......I would have kept bench the same.......why hv 2 centre mids on the bench when you already have 4 on the pitch!?!?! I'll tell you why....Sven picked HIS players......those on big wages.....backfired Sven well done

So what would you do? it is unlikely that we will bring in anyone on loan ( wingers), so we play this rigid diamond formation which is good at home but nullifies our attack away from home. Top two is still achievable if we address the problems. Anyway, the Thais will do as they see best if things don't improve they will sack him.

He's been succesful with it during his career, and we did get a couple of good points before the Derby game, which could very easily have been four. However, nobody's happy with 13th of course. But with a win we could've jumped from 12th to a play-off place. At the moment we're still in contention, a half decent run would see us surge up the table. It's not like we're doomed (which a substantial amount of people on here thought) like when Sven took over from Sousa. We were well in contention come the turn of the year, so in short, at this stage it doesn't matter whether we're 13th or 2nd now. If we're still down here in February/March I'd be worried, but panicking now is premature.

Thought Everton were mad to sign him thought he'd go into obscurity but no along comes Sven. oh dear

I fully expect us to go on and beat Watford in the week but this inconsistency of performances must be addressed if we are to have any chance of promotion. I'm happy to say it and don't give a fook on the comeback.. The inconsistency is very much like last season.. Only this season we have spent shit loads and aren't relying on loanees... And had we have won we would have been 5th and everyone would be overjoyed, very fine margins. It was a poor performance (not helped by dubious refereeing decisions) but let's not get carried away. We'll win our next two I'm sure which should put us up into the Play Off area. It's our first defeat for about 8 games and a blip, but just a blip nonetheless.

Defo, I mean what was Mills playing at! we shot ourselves in the foot and Im confident that if we still had 11 we could of got something from the game, no doubt. Penalty appeal (King) I thought it was, would of been harsh, but you know what Ridgewell's intentions are. He was doing all this blocking stuff in the game, King would of got round him, BANG!! 1v1 But we were very poor and if we had got something from the game we would of been lucky. We just didnt seem to get going at all, Are best chance fell to our central defender.....says alot about the "non-excistance" strike force. (Vassell was very poor, I remember in the first half at one point he just stood there while King was chasing around the play.....literally stood there!) Beckford needs to do sommit, although he had limited options, but just not sharp enough up top) (saying that give him and Nugent up front against Watford, if he gets the a goal it can rocket his confidence up!!) We can take NO positives from this game at all, I say lets draw a line under it and forget tit happend, focus for Watford (Btw BBC coverage was shocking! camera would be focused on the ref for like 20 seconds...."and Its a corner to Leicester" how did we get the corner i want to see the game, not the Ref's belly!) We only ever show short glimpses of wuality every now and again. Creatvity is very poor and crossing in particular.

As I said, I don't really care at this stage whether we're 13th or 2nd. All I care about is that we've not been distanced, despite having had an indifferent start to the season. I don't doubt one moment that we'll see more performances that are comparable to the Derby one, with the quality we have in our squad. I've been a staunch supporter of another old and supposedly passé manager in Morten Olsen for the past 12 years, even when the going got very rough, and look where his team are now. I believe Sven has the necessary qualities to get this team promoted, so shoot me down for that if you want.

I think he, as I would, would have brought in a winger in the summer. Plenty of us have been saying so. He still has had a chance to get one in on loan but doesn't want to. It's worrying that he can't see that we need one. Home/away from home, it doesn't matter. The formation we are playing is the best for the players we've got. If we had a winger it might be a different story though. The point is, we have gone for it at home and have been winning games well against decent opposition. Away we have been very negative and it's not suited us, today it has cost us.
