Stay Positive Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 It's STILL "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for me, though I am loving "Would I Lie To You?"
ousefox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Have I Got News For You. Mock the Week used to be up there, but has gone downhill a lot.
Stay Positive Posted 24 October 2011 Author Posted 24 October 2011 Peep Show Peep Show? Are they doing another series of that then? Good news if so.
Jimothy Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Thought the one filmed at Old Trafford yesterday was brilliant! Hope they make many more!
Haydos Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Peep Show? Are they doing another series of that then? Good news if so. Season 8 and 9 have been commissioned apparently. IMO one of the few contemporary comedy series' that hasn't gone downhill after 3/4/5 series. Series 7 is probably my favourite.
Finnegan Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Would I Lie To You is great. I loved the first season of Ask Rhod Gilbert but it's been naff lately. Arrested Development will always be number one for fictional shows, though.
The Doctor Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Not Going Out is good, as is Would I Lie To You. Not keen on Big Bang Theory though. Oh and Rhod Gilbert arguing with David Tennant in Ask Rhod Gilbert was one of the funniest things I've seen recently.
purpleronnie Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Cant stand rob brydon so anything without him is better for it.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Panel shows in general are a bit shit. Especially Mock The Week now, any programme that has Andy Parsons and Chris Addison as permanent fixtures are going to be facing an uphill struggle from the start. 8 Out of 10 Cats is probably the funniest panel show going (in my opinion), and that's mainly down to the fact that in Sean Lock and John Richardson, they've got top 'team captains.' Used to love Buzzcocks, which can still be really funny on it's day, but poor bookings (few funny comedians, mainly shite chart acts) means it often finds itself having to be carried by Noel Fielding. Agree with Finners, too, if Arrested Development was still going, it wouldn't have dipped in quality, I can still roar watching episodes of that after five or six years. Can't believe it's quality didn't correspond with viewing figures, when the likes of The Big Bang Theory - which is complete gash, get series after series. The IT Crowd isn't quite up to the standard the first series set nowadays but it's still watchable and has it's moments - the writers/actors are too strong for it not to. Peep Shows always managed to maintain a decent level of hitting the spot, too. Not sure of it'll get any more series after it's current run, but quite liking Fresh Meat on Channel 4 at the minute.
boring_jester Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 mock the week and never mind the buzzcocks
Stay Positive Posted 24 October 2011 Author Posted 24 October 2011 Pete vs Life. Really? I only saw one episode and wasn't impressed. Maybe I'll give it another go.
purpleronnie Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Really? I only saw one episode and wasn't impressed. Maybe I'll give it another go. Its terrible.
BrummieFOX Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Community, for me. In it's 3rd series and is consistently good! 8 out of 10 Cats is good because of Sean Lock and Jon Richardson. Sean Lock is brilliant!! Also love An Idiot Abroad.
Finnegan Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I hate Mock The Week and instantly judge anyone that claims to love either it or Frankie Boyle. Tragic waste of Dara O Briain's genius.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Tragic waste of Dara O Briain's genius. Saw him on MTW before I'd seen his stand-up and wasn't keen, then saw a few of his live shows and was converted straight away. They're brilliant.
Finnegan Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Saw him on MTW before I'd seen his stand-up and wasn't keen, then saw a few of his live shows and was converted straight away. They're brilliant. Aye. Sorry to sound up myself but MTW is so lowest-common-denominator. Thd man is so bright it's scary and his own shows are fantastic. The Irish produce some of my favourite stand-ups. Dylan Moran, Ed Byrne, Tommy Tiernan et all.
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I dont think you can beat the old 80's stuff... Only fools, BlackAdder are still up there with the best of em The 'In-Betweeners' has been the best recent comedy IMO, and the Office was fab My mates (Chris Gray and Ali Martin) are currently trying to get a new comedy commissioned. Its called 'Bankers' and satirises the collapse of the banking world. They have a superb agent and if it comes good, the show should hit our screens early/mid next year
