The biggest hindrance is the fact that the owners have given out a goal by wanting to reach the Premier League at the end of this season.

Personally, I don't think that's realistic given the fact that we've changed our starting eleven so drastically within the space of maybe two to three months (off-season plus another month when Beckford arrived). Like you said,

bringing in a new manager and instilling a new system with loads of new players takes its time.

Patience is a virtue not shared by a lot of Leicester City fans. I do hope the Raksiakorns and the rest of the consortium reconsider their one-year plan and make it into a two-year to three-year plan.

I know they're pushing for it because of the widening

financial gap between Premier League and Championship, but all this can seriously backfire (which I hope it doesn't, of course).

It puts a lot of pressure on the players and the manager. Too much pressure. Coupled with a slightly cocky attitude by some players and fans ("We'll get promoted, we're

promotion contenders") this is a dangerous cocktail and

one of the reasons, if not the reason why we've done rather mediocre so far.

As usual MC you make a convincing argument...

However, I have this sneaky feeling it's not so much about

pressure and expectation as about Sven, for all the reasons I've given above.. I think that, given the right bloke in charge, these players would shine.....

We have quality in that squad.. With the right bloke at the helm it's potentially a title winning squad.. Of that I have little doubt. I don't think we have that right man..

Hope I'm wrong but this season we absolutely should not, with no excuses, have lost at home to brizzle and Millwall..

That's not acceptable, expectation an all...

No other team in the Football League or Premier League has seen a similar change (closest would be Derby County).

This "All-In" approach is very risky - I'd rather they'd want to get there step by step.

Beware of the day we finish somewhere in the playoff places and don't get promoted. Even though it would signify an improvement over last season, I dread to think of all the hate and moaning we could experience on here and other media outlets then.

Excellent post, MCPrussian.

Sven's stats since he took over, incidentally, for anyone who's interested are: PLAYED 56, WON 25, DRAWN 13, LOST 18 (including cup matches)

And then mis-use, and then be embarrassed because we've spent even more stupid money on big name players who aren't performing.

Seriously, why the hell have big names if we can't even make use of them, we'd look even more stupid.

I'd rather have the smaller names who'll fight anyway.

Absolutely no offence to you, Dan, but this just doesn't make sense to me. IF, (and that's a big IF, as none of us know really why players are not performing - although we all love to guess on here), but IF Sven and his team are failing to motivate supposed "better players", why would they make a better job of it with "lesser players" ? I understand the hunger idea. but would you rather have motivated good players or motivated average players ? The idea that the manager needs to light a fire under his players is wrong - he'll have to do that every game therefore. We need players who have the fire lit INSIDE them, not under them. Subtle, but massively different. Ever had to get your kids out of bed for school ? Do you have to do that on Christmas Day ??? No - they can;t wait to get up ! That's (IMO) what seems to be missing. But did anyone think that would be Sven's style ??? I do think the management/coaching team needs looking at in terms of skills and roles, but (again, IMO), Sven needs to be here for the season almost regardless. Knee-jerk reactions to bad form are easy. Building a winning team takes much, much longer and is much, much harder.

Having said all that, I'm still kicking my dog in frustration at how poor we were at weekend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who do we get in as replacement?

Chris Powell. 'Boot Sven upstairs' (Director of Football, or whatever) and get CP in as First Team Coach / Team Manager. We know Sven rates and gets on well with Powelly - and he always said how much he enjoyed working with Sven (and how gutted he was to leave City) - it's the obvious choice. Whether he'd leave (successful) Charlton now, is, of course, another matter ...... ?!

Got to say, that I agree with that - but I don't think Powell will come - yet !

Out and out now, I'm still furious after Saturday, Leicester City is all about passion as far as I'm concerned, and true Leicester supporters wear their hearts on their sleeves always have done always will.

I watched him against Milwall, standing in the technical area with your arms folded then running to the dug out when the opposition looks likely to score again ffs, that may be the way he is but its not what I want or expect to see from any manager of the team I have supported through thick and thin for over 4 decades, he's a bleeding disgrace and the sooner he's gone the better, end of!

Oh, and just for the record if we somehow manage any sort of result in East London next Saturday it will be by fortune rather than anything he's actually capable of, and it will only be papering over the cracks!

Sven in ? have I missed something. Attracting players like St ledger and Pantsil ? And as for Macdonald ! Stay off the Stella it doesn't suit you. :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh:

St Ledger and Pantsil, both current internationals and one has recent Premier League and European experience.

You can see why they were signed.

I have been very much in the pro Sven camp and I will contiue to be so.......for the time being.

However, I said in pre-season that we lacked sufficient creativity and we should have focussed more on attacking players and I think that is still the case. Playing without any real invention on the flanks is quite ineffective, not to mention boring to watch.

So, whilst I think the positives outweigh the negatives with Sven (experience, calibre of player attracted etc) I also feel that the negatives are more prominent than we all believed they would be.

Hopefully our squad size and quality will begin to kick-in soon, but if we are still languishing in lower mid-table come the end of Feb then he could be in trouble.

Here's hoping that we pick up in November and really kick on in 2012 - up the city!!

Trust me, if we are lower mid-table by the end of Feb it'll be the whole club in trouble!

I dont think you can really say that. If we went and won 3-0 could you not just as easily argue that Saturday was a freak result.

I am not saying we dont have our "cracks" but there was no indication before Saturday that Millwall would come and win 3-0. Nobody predicted that.

I think you're spot on but you've missed my point. - Another manager would get them more fired up. It's not the players I mean, I'm comparing it to Pearson's team to Sven's, Pearson's, player for player on paper wasn't even close to this, yet in an XI v XI of the two I'm sure Pearson's side would sneak it.

I agree totally I think the fact any players aren't self-motivated is worrying in itself, you've got to look at the likes of Barcelona and look how much their players and fans are loving it, and picture yourself as being like that one day. That should be enough, the fact players need someone to get them fired up is pretty bad.

I genuinely don't think Sven would want to stay here if we took the manager's job off him, and I don't think Powell would ditch Charlton yet.

But that's the problem. Too many of these "freak results". 0-3 is a bit of a freak result but Millwall taking all 3 points is far from a freak result and it's exactly what you've come to expect of Leicester, deep down I had a feeling we'd lose that because Millwall are often good at upsetting the odds and we're often bottlers against the poorer sides.

5-4-4 is completely unacceptable. I'd love to know how many the top two lose on average after 46 games but I can assure you for a fact it's less than what we're on course for. We're on course for it because things simply don't seem like changing, that's the worry.

Ok Saturday was a freak result was it?, so was our second half performance against Watford and the Birmingham match and the games against Reading and Bristol City I suppose, more likely the Derby result was the freak one!
