If youve pre-ordered then they shouldnt run out of copies for you because youve put youre name down for it, am I right? :unsure:

Depends if they've oversold their number of copies.

The delivery status in my Tesco account is saying 'partially ready for despatch' whatever the hell that means.

Mine was saying that, got an email at 10pm last night saying it had finally been dispatched

 

Knowing Royal Mail it'll be a f***ing miracle if that turns up on tomorrow, especially if they've used 2nd class. Everyone else I know who pre-ordered got emails on Friday saying it was dispatched, pissed me right off. And our postman most often doesn't show up till 2pm so I'm going to have to get my arse down to Asda tonight and queue up with all the other schmoes.

I got the despatched email on Saturday night so I'm not expecting it to turn up before tomorrow. I notice this morning that amazon price has gone up from 35 quid to 40 though. I'm not in a massive hurry though as I probably won't have time to get stuck into it before the weekend anyway.

Assuming you buy an ASDA copy, what do you do with the amazon copy when it arrives? How much of an arse ache is it to send the amazon one back? Do they charge you for the return postage?

Lots of news reports this morning that Amazon sent their copies out early. A lot of people have been getting them this morning. Rockstar absolutely fuming apparently.

Not a lot they can do. Rockstar has shareholders to appease so it's not like they are going to blacklist their biggest online retailer over something which will be inconsequential in a weeks time.

It guarantees it for you. He didn't have any guarantee he would be able to get it. Pretty simple really.

yes but have you had a look at the date? why is he able to buy it at all today? tomorrow morning and I wouldn't of given a flying ****, due to our game tomorrow I won#'t be playing til Weds anyway the point is he shouldn't have his copy at all right now

So what it boils down to is you're having a tantrum because other people have got it before you? I'd get it if you were promised a certain date and it was late but just because a few stores are selling it early...It doesn't affect when you can play it.

its the principle of the thing, if there is a release date they shouldn't be selling any before that date, what my personal situation is is irrelevent

I ordered mine originally from Tesco Direct, if I had ordered from Amazon I'd be playing it now!

 

I'm going to get mine from Asda at midnight, and when my Tesco order is delivered I just take that copy back to Asda (still sealed) and say I don't need it, get refund, race back home and continue playing.

Shops actually recieved their copies last week. Its a toss up wether it'll work or not, but some smaller shops will break release date for regular customers just so they dont buy it elsewhere. It's either down to blind luck, or you knowing a member of staff, many of the bigger stores like game and blockbuster wont do this though.

Pre ordering games nowdays is pretty pointless. Shops simply dont run out of stock most of the time now. Only reason I did it was because I saved myself a tenner. The whole notion of giving a developer your money based on screenshots and trailers is pretty ridiculous.

I ordered from amazon and it has not arrived yet if it makes you feel any better. At least the tracking info seems to be online now suggesting it is in the system so I am hopeful it will arrive tomorrow. Can't be arsed to go an buy another copy - just have to sit tight and see if it comes tomorrow.

Surprised they are fuming about it being delivered a day early lol I mean Saturday I can understand but surely better to make sure your customer gets their produce on time. 

 

Shopto, reliable as ever, also dispatched mine on Friday so I'll be surprised if it's not there when I get home (sorry Jimmy).

I suppose it's a tough call for online retailers to "hit" the release date. If they wait until the day before to ship then there is a very good chance most people will not receive it on time. So they have to ship a few days early and run the risk of being "early". I don't really see why Rockstar are getting all arsey about it. They still get their £££...

 

Probably won't be many years before physical discs are a thing of the past and it is all digital downloads...

Because if a game is released early the sales won't count in the charts, these charts are a big deal for publishers just as they are for record companies

They probably will just get put through the till the next day. That's what ze dodgey game shop down the road does
