MON in talks

So the mercury reporting that according to the Thai press MON and OGS are candidates........

This debarcle is creating good publicity in Thailand - lucrative and savvy methinks.

Is today the day we will know whether MON has got the job?

no..

why would we be interviewing clark if mon was really a contender..

how come there was a shortlist of 4 possible candidates as Bert says if mon was a candidate (he wasnt on teh list)

Bert isnt always right you know! If he was then Clark and Keegan would already be here.

I think MON might still be in the frame but still highly unlikely. Hughes still not ruled himself out and does seem he had talks.

Something's not quite right about this managerial saga. Didn't someone say that Martin's wife was poorly? If so, football can slip a long way down the list of what is important.

If OGS says "no" to the job, perhaps the Academy managerial team would be as good a way forward for now. With MON perhaps acting in a consultative role for the time being - if he thinks he can.

It wouldn't be so far removed from a Director of Football. Just thinking aloud and if I'm wrong about Martin's wife my apologies. I'll happily withdraw the comment.

Unfortunately Martins wife has been ill for sometime as I have been informed so no need to apologise.

If I have been informed incorrectly then sorry Martin! :(

what he has said does make sense though...

as in clark was interviewd last night would have been due today like originallly stated (thursday) but seems something went wrong over night...

maybe clark was pissed off it leaked...

seems more feasible than everyone jumping on the MON is coming just because stringer said he didnt want to talk about it on a phone call...

we all know what stringer is like, like to play things up, drag things out.. its his job. to get listeners..

Maybe the club pulled the plug on Clark? Hence his massive cover up?

Theres no doubt in my mind Clark would have taken the job if offered and I think it was more a case we have other targets in mind above him

Clark saving face, which is fair enough. Just hope Huddersfield fans are naive enough to believe him

I heard MON's wife was ill back before he took the Villa job and as he is based in Midlands, it was ideal as he didnt have to be away from home etc

Surely someone on here sees something wrong in repeatedly speculating that O'Neill may not come because - well - perhaps is wife is dying.

Please stop this. It's one whisper that shouldn't be happening. Even if you're privy to some sort of secret, sensitive information you shouldn't share it. If he's working for ITV he's probably willing to work at a club. And if he were to work for a club I'd hope people wouldn't speculate that every grumpy post-match conference was because of something going on with his better half.

Talk crap about Leicester all you wish, about the job, about all sorts of things you know nothing about, but not about something like that. It seems to me the sort of thing no Leicester fan would say, to the extent that I wonder whether these posts are from Cov fans or just extremely thick Leicester fans.

As for 'why would we speak to Clark if O'Neill's coming?' Surely you're not all still taking Bert's word as gospel? He clearly knows nothing about the job because if he did we'd have had a manager a week ago. I fully sympathise with him in that he's being fed misinformation - and yes he clearly knows far more about everyday goings-on than we do - but it doesn't change the fact that he's been consistently wrong about this.

Last night Bert said Clark was the new boss. The Press said he was. Their board said there'd been no approach whatsoever. Then Clark said he'd stay at Huddersfield and he wouldn't go to City. We've somehow taken that as evidence for him being first choice and turning the job down! Why? Because Bert or The Sun says so? Think for a moment about how little sense that makes!

Please keep all the misinformation going, but don't read too much into it - and stop trying to bring people's highly sensitive family issues into an equation which clearly makes no sense as it is. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Oh bore off with your high and mighty crap!! No one said a bad word and hardly become a big debate on the matter! <_<

Who said Clark turned us down? Think we all know that it is most likley the other way round! I think we are very close to appointing someone now, hence why Clark and Pearson have both distanced themsleves after being quiet up until now. Basically, they know they arent in the running anymore.

I personally think Hughes might be the one but if it is MON then get ready for a riot!!!!

There are things that you shouldn't spread rumours on. And I'm not the sort of person who spent six weeks clutching a crucifix and a copy of the Mail when I saw the Brass Eye paedophilia special.

I'm not anti gay and I know stories about a few ex-City players that I could share, but wouldn't because they could be (a) not entirely correct and (b) hurtful and personal. And I tend to think cancer is a little more serious an issue than that.

What do you think MON would make of something like that were he to read it, whether it's true or not? If he wished to advertise the fact he, or she, would do that themselves. Do you think it's reasonable to speculate on whether someone may or may not have cancer just because it could explain the riddle of who'll be the next Leicester manager?

If you prefer to entertain yourself with rumours about the health of MON's wife then I'm happy to be dull by comparison. It's fun to speculate about trivialities, but there's the key word. Let's not make it more serious than it is. As far as I know his wife is well now, and if that isn't the case then we should at least respect their privacy especially as I'm very doubtful about the credibility of some of the sources. It isn't, after all, the sort of rumour anyone would wish on a member of their family, true or otherwise.

If you're of the Pat Robertson variety of social commentator and enjoy public wonderings on whether someone is dying or not, then at the very least you might offer a prayer for her and leave it at that.

So we've had thes three sentences from people;

"Didn't someone say that Martin's wife was poorly? If so, football can slip a long way down the list of what is important"

"Unfortunately Martins wife has been ill for sometime as I have been informed so no need to apologise"

"I heard MON's wife was ill back before he took the Villa job and as he is based in Midlands, it was ideal as he didnt have to be away from home etc"

.......and you react like that!

Hardly, hurtful comments and on a football forum where a lot worse is said! No one mentioned anything about cancer, that was you and if anything you have just made 3 very innocent remarks into a big deal on here which otherwise would have gone unnoticed as they were always intended.

There is nothing malicious here, so dont try and make it out to be thanks.

Im with STU on this one....

Inkley... A massive over-reaction to a few harmless comments.... Your intentions are honorable, i am sure... but i dont think there was a single malicious word said by others either.... the reasons why MON might not want to take the job or not are perfectly legitimate topics of conversation on a message board and thread connected with Leicester City, our next manager and who that might be.

I would like to make a suggestion, Inkley... Around December/ Janaury time, stay well away from the Deathlist thread.

Understand exactly what you're saying but I disagree with you - inasmuch as it's not any INTENDED nastiness I'm referring to, it's the fact that we've brought rumours about people's wellbeing into an otherwise trivial discussion. As I said, you can't speculate on even the most random people's sexual orientation, or drug habits... health, for me, is a similar sort of thing. It's not pro-censorship, it's the fact that some people may get very irritated if people start bringing up O'Neill's wife's health as any sort of issue. It's totally irrelevant at best, massively personal and sensitive at worst. I can assure you people could get very upset about that sort of thing, even if it wouldn't bother - for instance - me personally. And even if it's true.

I can think of some very high profile cases of people getting extremely angry about stories being circulated about their health, and that of loved ones.

I'm not up for a big row over this. It's a minor difference of opinion - I'm trying to quietly suggest we leave this sort of thing to one side in the debate, we really don't want to make a big thing of it because you never know who looks at this sort of stuff. That doesn't mean to say MON, it could just be a member of the public. Of course no-one means any ill will by it, but it just seems like a massively serious rumour to be dropping into a pot of lighthearted ones. No it wouldn't offend me, but I can promise you it could - and has - bothered other people.

It seems unlikely his wife's health has any bearing on things. Probably best keep it that way and return to speculating about reasons within the game that may or may not bring MON back to Leicester. Just a polite, diplomatic suggestion. Of course I know you'd all wish her nothing but the best, but it's a dark little avenue to take an otherwise funny little game down.

Hey, never mind. You're obviously not ill meaning in all of this. I read it the wrong way. We'll agree to disagree and I hope you see my point of view, even if you're not in agreement. Have a good night lads and lasses.

As I said last night, in this regard at least Bert knows nothing. His 'list' seems little more than a solid piece of clever speculation, containing names that 'should' be in the running.

But before the Bertophiles come rushing in with there misguided notions of loyalty, I will say again that he HAS been right in the past about a number of things and I genuinely look forward to his posts.

You just cannot be right about everything.

Still, I am certain MON is interested and am pretty sure he could be our manager until seasons end!

Now you've done it! All Berts loyal fans will be having a bash at you!

I totally agree though anybody could of sat and made that list, it's not like you have to be in the know to do that! But I do definitely think that MON is in for a shout but would love to see OGS personally!
