MikeyT Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Heard a story a few days ago regarding someone i know. He was making whoopee with his wife and his "banjo string" broke. Now when i heard that i couldn't help but think, OUCH!! So i was wondering what painful accidents/injuries people have sustained on here or, know of others that have had painful mishaps happen to them?
Nick Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Had my arm dragged all the way through a metal railing with an arrow head on top. Had to pull it out, tie it up with my shirt and walk over a mile to somebody who was outside washing their car and get them to drive me to hospital - their footwell was full of blood by the time we arrived. Thanks to that bloke, never saw him again!

Thanks to that bloke, never saw him again! Ouch! It's accidents like this that have me appreciate the fact I've never had to go through anything similar in my life so far. Call me a puss and there's few things that really scare me, but the sight of a heavy injury or too much blood still makes me uncomfortable. Nick, safe to say I'm glad you made it through with the arm all intact.

MC Prussian Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Ta - You around for Leeds? Unlikely - I'll try to do a few more awaydays this season (like yesterday at West Ham). I've got myself an LCFC Membership, so I will drop by a few more times, just not next weekend.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 One of the builders at my house yesterday told me about how he pretty much sliced his scalp off in a fall, to the extent that you could peel it back from the front like a comedy hairpiece. He does sound quite accident prone, bless him
pSinatra Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 As a teenager, my Grandma was climbing over wrought iron railings - the sort with spikes on top. She slipped & the spike went straight through her armpit.
skinnydipper Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 One of the builders at my house yesterday told me about how he pretty much sliced his scalp off in a fall, to the extent that you could peel it back from the front like a comedy hairpiece. He does sound quite accident prone, bless him I saw some post mortem pictures of a man who had been hit by a car and had smashed his skull on a kerbstone. The skin on his face was peeled back during the procedure. Looked like something out of a horror movie . Anyway, your username reminded me of my own mishap when a teenager. It involved my foreskin, my zip and a mother and sister who thought the immovability of the two was tear inducingly hilarious It was an emotionally (and otherwise) bruising experience!
jonthefox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I n one of the old style goal rushes in the kop at filbo,i got caught behind a crush barrier and broke my arm. I remember lying to my mum and dad how i'd done it, because i thought they would go ballistic because i was in the kop.
sphericalfox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Now before I have the dogs set on me, I've seen a video which will put any injury you have experienced to shame. Google 'live leak' 'pier jump' 'cell phone'. Be VERY VERY VERY VERY warned in advance. This is some AWFUL AWFUL stuff. I have seen a clearer version of this vid, and I like to think I have a very strong disposition it made me crumble. On a side note to stories: One Christmas I spent too much time at the bar with work colleagues at a do out at Donnington Race track this missing the last booked taxis available. This was a time before everyone had a mobile. So in our wisdom we thought we'd walk to Melbourne a 2 mile jaunt down a country road. As a car approached at speed in the pitch black darkness, to avoid getting dead, I stepped to the side of the road. However I didn't see a sort of drainage trench about a foot deep. Well my whole weight went over on my ankle. I heard it go crunch/crack. Anyways long story short. I had to walk on it to Melbourne, where myself and colleagues managed to wave someone's else cab down. I took this cab to Ashby where I was living at the time, unfortunately I didn't have the money for it to take me all the way home, and then had to walk another mile on it. Well to say that my ankle was proper fooked when I woke up in the morning is an understatement. Basically I tore everything around my ankle and broke several of my metatarsals. I have not been able to play any contact sport since, and it occasionally snaps as it's surrounded by scar tissue. How it's stuck together is anyone's guess. It's not a gory story, maybe that other video can supplement your need for blood and what not. In fact reading over that it's my story is a bit crap in comparison to impaling and scalpings.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 In the line of work I've hand the pad of my right forefinger ripped away by a dog and the pad of my right thumb ripped away from being caught in a door lock. Both times they were left flapping, held on by skin and were pushed back in and taped up (can't stitch them) leaving me with very little feeling between forefinger and thumb on my right hand. Royal Mail owe me! <_< In the line of sport I've broke my left thumb and my right little finger whilst keeping goal, both times failing to stop the shot. Actually, not true - the time I broke my little finger I stopped the shot only for the striker to follow up the rebound and celebrate whilst I was writhing on the floor. <_< On both occasions I finished the match and didn'y realise anything was serious until the next day when I woke up with something unexpectedly swollen. I have also broken my right collar bone falling off my bicycle whilst racing at about 40 mph, having come down a long hill into a sharp corner. When I got up and looked for my bike it was about 100 yards away and a mate who I was cycling with said he's heard me come off, looked back and saw me bouncing down the road. I refused a lift from a well-meaning passerby and cycled home one-armed, which isn't as easy as it sounds if you have big hills to go up, which I did. Not until I got home was I made to go A+E by Mum. I've also put a 6" nail through my right foot (trod on a plank it was stick out of.) Surprisingly, it doesn't hurt as much as you would think, but the trail of blood I left on my way to find a first aid kit was rather alarming. Thankfully though, nothing too serious.
sphericalfox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I heard a story at school, so whether it's true or not is another matter. But a young lad being bullied at PE. They bullies stole his bag and hung to up on the top net rung on the school field's goalposts. Said young man (who was quite short) attempts to scale goal posts to retrieve bag. Young man slips and catches other sack on another net rung. Two sacks hanging from goalposts. Young man holds himself together and hobbles to nearest house to have to go to hospital in ambulance to sew ballsack together again.

sphericalfox Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Now I've had some jobs on the front line and seen some bad stuff but Spherical that really is pretty impressive head wound not sure this is the correct emoticon but.... I don't know what the 'being sick' emoticon is, but I felt it when I first seen it. It requires balls of steel. The clip was MUCH clearer than that one too. It's obviously gone through various downloads/reloads over the years.
Jackirius Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 @Spherical, is that the one of the guy jumping off the cliff and you see his head literally open? That shit used to be on youtube for years before they took it down.
Rincewind Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I know there might be the same or worse in horror films burt I don't fancy seeing it. Knowing that its real puts me off.

But as the thread discussed injuries and pain, this instantly came to mind.

z-layrex Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 I had an abcess in the shaft of my dick last year. My useless gp would only prescribe me antibiotics and not decent analgesia. Ended up passing out from the pain and my girlfriend driving me to the hospital theatres where I work for one of my colleagues to help me . I remember the relief when it burst, blood and pus all over my genitals and legs tho, too bad I was in Waitrose too.

Charl91 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Never had a bad injury, been lucky so far. Worst one I had was when I went to a beach in France; I was in the Sea when I stood on a fishing hook and got it stuck in my foot. I thought I'd been bitten by a crab Had to hobble to the shore before I pulled it out, it still had the line attatched to it aswell.
