Guest shearfox Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Nonsense. Give me one caretaker turned permanent appointment that has ever been successful. That said this > Roy Keane Chris Hughton? Got Newcastle out of this league...
Guest MattP Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Chris Hughton? Got Newcastle out of this league... Very good shout. Ok name me a joint one?
yorkie1999 Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 i knew a guy who worked at a horse training ground and he used to time the horses then he'd give use tips. we made a fortune backing horses no one had ever heard of... Point is being in the know is more important than going with the flow. The guys behind the scenes know what the best team is and how to play.
Finnegan Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 it's not going to happen anyway but Rudkin, Stowell and Beaglehole have stacks of experience between them and probably know the emerging players of the football world as well as anyone. If you put a vote up I'd be surprised if they wouldn't be a more popular choice than Keane which is what I think the reaction's about rather than the two you mention. 'Cos Keane is fucking dreadful. I'm pretty sure I'd be more popular than Keane, Lewandowski for City anyone?* *No, not really.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 1 November 2011 Posted 1 November 2011 Rudkin did sound very switched on, seems like he could have a more expanded role - but maybe its a bit early for him to stake his claim for the top job. Maybe he'll be the boss in a number of years time, in a Brian McDermott sort of way...
Wink Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Let's hire the caretaker, he's doing a cracking job..... Also anyone remember Glenn Roeder?? Another successful caretaker manager...never liked that guy! Made me cringe!
davieG Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 It seems like only 5 minutes ago some people were questioning what Stowell was even bringing to the table and why he as a seemingly poor goal-keeping coach was doing as a full time team coach. Now he's the one to get us promoted
LcFc_Smiv Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 This would only ever happen if someone like Keegan came in as director of football, in that sense the owners would have their big name, someone who could attract the players that Stowell and Rudkin want. Again it comes down to the director of football argument would we really want one? I'm not actually saying this is what I want, I just think that it's the only scenario you would see them in charge.
Captain... Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 They are not going to get the job permanently, but hopefully they will be utilised by the new manager and can continue having a positive affect on the first team. If anything it proves that we do have a talented squad and that with a bit of motivation can beat most teams in the division. The team's performances during this managerless period will be being watched by prospective new managers and it will surely help to get the right man to see what we are capable of.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Does anyone think the new manager might want a wholesale change of backroom staff? Keane, for example, has taken Tony Laughlan everywhere he's ever been. Tony used to be at City.. I guess stowell and Rudkin would be safe at their level hopefully.

Now he's the one to get us promoted I'm sure these are also the people who wrote off Mills, and are turning on Beckford...
Southern Fox Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 These 2 will be more than capable of looking after the squad until a permanent manager comes in but they are not long term We need characters like these at the club and im hoping when the new manager comes in, retains their services But not only do we need a manager that manages the squad now, we also need a manager that can attract the sort of player we need when/if we make that jump up into the higher division Sadly Stowell/ Rudkin wont have that appeal. Wages are the major factor when a player joins but also the manager they are to play for Just my opinion
tomtom Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 I'm sure these are also the people who wrote off Mills, and are turning on Beckford... And who would then question their appointment after their 1st defeat
Benjaldinho Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Just out of curiosity so chill out if you disagree.... IF MON says no wich is becoming more and more likely, it seems we will not get what i like to call a "premier league manager" (bar maybe Mark Hughes) This being the case i would consider John Rudkin on a permanent basis with Mike Stowell as his number 2. I have followed his career and in my opinion is a quality coach and would be a decent manager! The past two games speak volumes , scored 5 in 2 games and have been all round a much better team than we were under Sven!! I know 2 games is not alot to judge him on but it seems we have been playing alot better/!! Paul Lambert was promoted from within at Norwich and he hasn't looked back since, i reckon Rudkin would be pretty much the same What you think? He's worth a shout? Just an thought btw so CHILL OUUT
topharry123 Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 It's a nice thought, and before the new owners maybe there would have been a chance. But it's clear that they don't mind spending the money to bring in a top manager so can't see this ever happening.
seenitall Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 How's the big name manager thing going by the way? We've gone from O Neill Keegan etc through the Hughes and Davies' and now are at Keane after 9 days - when is a big name really a little name????
Babylon Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 Paul Lambert was promoted from within at Norwich and he hasn't looked back since, i reckon Rudkin would be pretty much the same Is Colchester withing Norwich? Nice thought but if we'd lost yesterday I doubt you'd be saying this.

themotivator Posted 2 November 2011 Posted 2 November 2011 lambert is not really comparable to rudkin/stowell. he's played for borussia dortmund and won the champions leage with them (in the same team as sousa). then went on the play for celtic. played a fair few games for his national team and managed at 3 other clubs before norwich, reaching the league cup semi finals with wycombe... VS Jon Rudkin became Academy Manager in June 2003.Rudkin, who was released as a schoolboy from the Leicester City Youth System himself when he was 16, has gone full circle to take charge of the Academy set up at the Belvoir Drive training ground.
