I am Rod Hull Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Am very underwhelmed by this appointment. We have missed a trick in not appointing Billy Davies or Dave Jones in this division. Both can deliver teams at this level to make the play offs and compete for promotion. Under Pearson it will be boring football again. People have short memories. If it wasn't for his negative play one up front tactics in the play off first leg against Cardiff at home we would have made the final that year as Cardiff were for the taking. The 2nd leg proved that. We are going backwards. The thais wanted a big name in football to advertise the brand over their. Nigel Who? Never mind mate, chin up... Nearly 9 to 1 of the fans on here are happy with his return BTW...

Babylon Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 loved him when he was here but that's the past. don't really agree with messing up another team (don't care about Hull but the principle of it) when there are quality unemployed managers available . Well they didn't care about us when they came in for him 18 months ago did they, so sod em.
Tielemans63 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Dave Jones? Makes NP look like Keith Chegwin.
Guest parky0607 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Fryatt and hobbs must be well pissed off !

Eh missed a trick by not appointing the manager of a team who only beat us on pennos despite spending millions more than us on players. And the manager sacked by our rivals for failing in the playoffs like the Person you don't want. The three of them are similar, but Pearson has been here before and knows the club. Also some of our players are still his, so that puts him ahead of the others in my view.

Salieri Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Pretty much 9 out of 10 are happy to see NP return judging by the poll, nice to see the majority have not lost their mind or their memory.
Corky Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 The owners have had a big name, it didn't work out so they are trying something else.
5waller5 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Never mind mate, chin up... Nearly 9 to 1 of the fans on here are happy with his return BTW... According to the poll of who you want as the next manager NP didn't even make 5%. So I'm struggling to see where you get your stats from. Regardless, I'm completely underwhelmed. I thought the Thais had real ambition, it turns out they are happy with promotion and nothing else.

Here you go babes... http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=77773 I said 9 to 1 would be happy to have him back and lets face it, no one thought we`d be in for him so thats why he wasnt voted for in the original poll. If Pearson was out of a job at the time of the original poll, I think he may have got more than 5%...

And considering O'Neill had 51% and the second favourite (Hughes) had only 8%, those stats are a bit misleading. What it does show is that he was 4th choice for LCFC as a whole.

Probably because most fans didn't expect it to happen, as NP was here before and currently in a job. I certainly thought they'd look elsewhere.

Your reasoning would suggest that we are able to attract not only a manager who knows this league, but is capable of performing well in the premiership as well. Yes, they're queuing up of course. You're surely 100% correct, why can't we all agree with your words of wisdom? Back to reality, I hope you eat your words in a few months time once NP has got this lot sorted out. They need a kick up the arse and putting into organisational shape. You shouldn't be underwhelmed by the appointment, you should be underwhelmed by the opposition in this league. Bar Southampton and West Ham, all of the teams are exactly that. NP will see us into the playoffs without question although automatic is out of the question.
JuddLCFC Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Yes, he will get the best out of the players, time to get behind him and the team! COYB

Because that poll only asks who you would want as your favorite. I am sure that many people who had O'neill down like me would have had Pearson as 2nd or 3rd on there wish list. I have already stated that IMO either him or O'neill were the only 2 who could come and sort out our underachieving gang of football mercenaries. Welcome back Nige, Kick some ass and get us up to the play offs at the end of the season, then we can go from there.

What it does show is that he was 4th choice for LCFC as a whole. It's supposed to mean that ambition shouldn't stop at scraping in to the premier league - which I'm confident NP will achieve. But at the expense of the things they seemed to also want - a media friendly statesman for the brand and attacking free flowing football to sell the club abroad. It seems priority number one is now the be all and end all, promotion. I've nothing against NP, I'm just mildly disappointed / ambivalent about his signing. The fact that less than one in twenty people wanted him back when given the options and that he was fourth choice for both the fans (and it appears, IMHO, the owners) my only surprise is the sudden backing he's got.

Thats because (which as been mentioned by more than one person on this page) he was already in employment with Hull so it was unlikely. Did you not see this poll ? 198 to 30 are happy for him to return..... http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=77773

What's wrong with that and who's to say he won't be a good manager in the Premiership if we go up? I've said it before on here but NP is in the same mould as Rodgers and Lambert, and intelligent man who has studied the game with some high profile management positions (and Bryan Robson) and applies that to his teams. He has a great eye for young talent (Cleverley, who has now been referred to as the creative force in Man Utd's midfield this season) and is a great disciplinarian. He will bring some cohesion to the team. My only fear is that with Beckford, it isn't another DJ Campbell situation. Hopefully NP has learnt from that experience. Also, on the Beckford topic, this is actually the first time he has played in the Championship for real (11 games in total and 1 goal) so it is new territory for him too so we shouldn't expect too much - most of his goals were in L1. We should have signed A Le Fondre - with his eidetic memory, he "literally" knows where the goal is... Missed a trick with him. I bet NP would have snapped him up (or signed Fryatt... )
5waller5 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Yes I saw that poll after I'd posted as it was locked and fell down the page. But I think that says it all to be fair. We are asked who our ideal manager is straight after Sven's departure and less than 5% say NP. Then a few weeks go by and we see Dowie, keane, jones etc linked and are led to beleive that MON and Clarke have turned us down ... Suddenly NP is not such a bad option. Doesn't help my feeling that 4th choice is not mildly disappointing. With all of our money and the current position, squad and ambition I just thought we could do better. I find NP hard to be excited about. Maybe it will sink in soon and I'll get behind him ... I liked him last time and was gutted to see him go ... But that was then!

(MON is not an option) Its not locked btw, its a vote only poll EDIT.. Why do you keep mentioning the 5% ? (he was/is in employment with Hull and it was unlikely we`d go for him. He wasnt even in the bookies betting scope.... thats the last time im saying that)
