Kitchandro Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Maybe bring him forward a bit, he doesn't have the concentration needed for a back 4 role but he is ok on the ball and can play in Wellens position if and when he gets the boot You cannot be serious.
gazfox9 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 just said in other thread.. i can see sol being pushed out.. can see MILLS/SSL being the back 2,,, (thats if he dont go bringing hobbs back) Gotta be honest, if Pearson returns, I think Tunchev will come in before SSL. (rightly so imho).
whitwickfox Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 i think pearson has quite an easy job with bamba..........just needs to teach him to hoof the ball up to howard
skinnydipper Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Like others have said I think Bamba could play as DM. We've desperately lacked a midfield ball winner. Also a good engine, reasonable passing , the ability to take the ball past an opponent and the added goal threat - I think this could be his best position. Would like to see it tried anyway. Bamba = the new Vieira
Kitchandro Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 We have Gelson Fernandes who should be playing the holding midfield role, why we have been playing him further forward I don't know.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I honestly think the lunatics are taking over the asylum !!!
Guest MattP Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Bamba in midfield Talk about the exact opposite of Xavi. Sol might be in his way out in Jan, Nigel wont stand for a centre half with his positional sense, can see him going with Mills-Tunchev, Mills-Hobbs eventually. We have Gelson Fernandes who should be playing the holding midfield role, why we have been playing him further forward I don't know. Exactly. No idea whats happened here.

Didn't know he was available and looking for a move to the Championship. Do you think Nigel will sign him in the window ? Think that Messi geezer might be a bit too small to play alongside Nuge though

Think that Messi geezer might be a bit too small to play alongside Nuge though I mean Xavi is the ideal centre midfielder. Low centre of gravity, great passer, intelligent on the ball, able to pass the ball in any direction with supreme confidence. Can dictate the pace of a game on his own. Bamba posseses not a single quality that would enable him to be a centre midfielder and if thats the idea after we purchased 3-4 new midfielders in the summer then god help us.
Thracian Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Pearson will do as he sees fit but I wouldn't want rid of Bamba. He's got talent aplenty for a centre-back, he seems a cheerful bloke to have around and there's still lots of room for improvement in the guy. The bloke could be awesome. The only question I'd have is whether he's prepared to learn. That's said because I cannot imagine managers have not begged him to stop trying to dribble his way out of the back third of the field - and yet he still does it. Bamba's got skill, strength and more pace than you'd perhaps expect, factors which all encourage a believe in himself that he can stay cool and deal with anyone or anything. And he does, on countless occasions. Trouble is the 10 times he copes are overshadowed by the one time he's caught out - and clever forwards quickly learn that it's a weakness of his. But then every player has weaknesses and, while not ignoring them by any means, I'd be much more interested in developing his strengths and, in particular, his potential ability to score some goals for us. Or at least provide the distraction to benefit others. Bamba, I'm convinced, could score us 6-8 goals a season but never looks likely to do so at present. Pearson should be good for him.

Those that I've listed above. Get real, we're not going to get Xavi or a Xavi type. With where we are at the moment the better midfielders want to play in the Premiership. IMO we desperately need a ball winner. Even Barcelona have that in the Busquets /Keita/ Mascherano type of player. As for the midfielders that we have they're all too similar and that is one of Sven's biggest failings. Agree about Fernandes though as he was exactly the type of player we need in the side against the likes of Leeds and Millwall. Wellens and King only play when they're allowed to and get muscled out in too many games recently. Anyway can see we're not going to agree about Bamba but I would like to see it tried. I' ll even eat humble pie if he's as poor as you suggest
Koke Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 NP likes meathead center backs,The only thing I'm worried about is he came to the club because he worked for Sven in the World Cup right? He turned down Blackburn and OM in the summer,What if they come in for him in January? OM as in Olympique Marseille? He turned down a Champions League side for a NPower Championship side?

Also the amount of times he's covered when teams have broken away quickly from one our free kicks whilst Konchesky is out of position.

I agree we need a ball winner, I just dont think Bamba would be capable of that job in centre midfielder and I just think we would be losing far far too much possesion in the middle of the pitch, I have no idea either why Fernandes isnt being used, incredibly bizarre.
absolutelegend Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Sol is our best player by an country mile. The defense / goalie don't need changing, it's everybody else that does (bar Nugent) This forum makes me laugh. We finally get a decent defender and this forum wants rid. He's the only Leics player I enjoy watching. Words defy me.
Guest ttfn Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 If you put to one side Sol's skills, insistence on bringing the ball down with his chest and dribbling the ball out of defence... He's a far more "solid" defender than Mills. He's faster, about as good in the air, reads the play better, distributes better over short distances and is more comfortable with the ball at his feet. Once you throw in his ridiculous skill-set it makes him a better player, not a worse one. How many goals have we conceded from Bamba trying to dribble out of defence since he's been here? I can't remember any. We may think it's risky but he obviously has the ball under control.
tedrub Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 You know what I have a feeling Bamba may be employed in the holding role Never thought of this - brilliant idea.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Gone come January. The ego and style of play will not mix well with Pearsons management. If Sven does end up at Blackburn as the rumours say then I can definitely see him going there in January. With regards to ego, I d not think that will be so much of a problem as he signed the player with the biggest ego at the club. Step forward Richie Wellens the self styled best midfielder in the Championship.

That the thing I always think when people slate him, saying he's an accident waiting to happen or he's going to cost us big time. Well he's been here almost a year now and I don't think he has cost us a goal, with risky play anyway, although I'm sure there has been some close calls. Bamba is first name on the team sheet at the minute, that shouldn't change because Pearson is here.
ithuriel Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Why would it be the end, we saw against Derby he can play a structured style of football and if need's be i think he would make an excellent striker in the style of a steve walsh type. Looking at him, he has pace and height and can steal the ball off players and run past them at pace, plus he is big and strong.

absolutelegend Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 i think he would make an excellent striker yup I think the point is that he could play anywhere on the pitch and still be our best player
burni Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 A player i think who gets too much stick, even at the highest levels not many do what bamba dares and he does it successfully (enough of the time). whether he would get caught out at a higher level who knows but either way i dont think he will have any problems. and as someone mentioned could play that holding role. although we have others that can do it.
whoareyaaa Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Bamba has been solid since he has been with us, one of the best signings we have made for ages for budget and game wise. Would easily sell for 5mil+ and NP will love the back two of Mills and Bamba you shouldnt even have bothered making the thread. Hes been getting better every week and NP will love the fact he has Mills, Bamba & Peltier at his disposal, Konchesky seems ok at left back better than what we had before i.e MCgiven(SHITE) and burmer. He will deff tinkle with the midfeild and forwards but will keep Nuge. with the squad we have hopefully we can now put a solid run of results together with NP back in charge.. I missed NP glad hes coming back, best we've had since MON.
