maynefox Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 (beware: Farage fanatic video!) Just watched this 15 minute video of him in the late noughties about the EU displaying a "democratic-deficit".Quite interesting and entertaining at times with his little similes here and there, and he does talk a lot of sense to be fair. I'm not a supporter of UKIP, but I loath the media's heckling of them. Whether a party is a communist party or UKIP, they have the right to express their ideas in a democratic fashion. Makes me sick the amount of extreme left-wing supporters in my seminar that talk about UKIP; "if you vote for them you're a fascist and you shouldn't vote for them". I question who the fvck are these people telling who one can or can not vote for. They are the ones acting in a fascist way! What I'm seeing, at the moment, is the mainstream parties, who have been taking the piss out of them for over 2 years, shltting their pants; hence their sudden major-media backlashes against UKIP.

The other parties are terrified of UKIP. I had a Tory leaflet through the door today, literally begging people not to vote UKIP. Very sad but made me chuckle. I don't even look at the Labour trash. That goes straight in the bin.
Strokes Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 The torys behaviour in all this ukip smear campaign, has really disappointed me. So much so that I'm not sure I can consider voting for them in the general. They are dining with the devil.
ramboacdc Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Breath of fresh air in politics as much as i hate all his policies i am with you there. he is only winning votes because he isnt talking like a politician. he talks like a normal person and will answer a question with an answer, not a statement.
Jimothy Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Very well considering he was outnumbered 4-1 and was spoken over every time. Sorry, I think you need to watch it back if you think he was spoken over every time. I know you're a fan, but that's very blinkered. Nothing against his policies, he put them across pretty well, but it was him who was talking over the others. He's the Alex Jones of British politics, he needs to learn to ship it up once in a while and he'll get to say more. Trying to shout everyone down in my opinion will just piss people off and they'll stop listening eventually.

I thought he was very respectful whilst others were talking and only talked over others, when they had interupted him in the first place or needlesly insulted him or ukip. The others looked very unprepared and kept up all the usual soundbites. Nigels conduct was quite impressive. The lib Dems look more out of touch than ever before, which frankly should have been impossible. Labour and conservative acted like snotty nosed kids and I'm not sure quite what the greens added to the debate.

They all interrupt a little bit on each other every week, but don't know what you were watching because he took it too the extreme. Doesn't matter if they insult him or Ukip, he should keep his gob shut and come back with a reasoned response. Shouting them down Alex Jones style isn't impressive. People will say Dimbleby was just showing BBC bias against ukip, but I don't think I've seen him having to tell a panelist to shut up and give others a chance quite so often.

You look when pfizer deal was talked about, he never talked until prompted andd then was ridiculed before he even started. He has a right to defend mistruths instantly.Who is Alex Jones?

That was the one time, and he was saying Europe would decide on the Pfizer deal Seriously, he might have some decent points, but he bloody obsessed. Unless I'm totally naive and missing something, can anybody tell me how the EU will be a factor in the deal. The rest of the show he was not respectful and just kept shouting as loud as he could while others spoke. Alex Jones is a US nutjob radio host who whenever he's in a discussion will just shout the odds whilst others talk. He'll put a point to someone and as the begin to answer hell but in and just keep reiterating the question before they've even tried to answer it. Much like Farage.

The Pfizer deal was the only time the other parties were not directly targetting UKIP, hence he was quiet.Matt posted a link earlier about how the EU are the only ones who have a say in the deal and vince cable admitted it yesterday. Farage wasn't being ridiculous I can't compare with Alex Jones I'm afraid as I haven't had the pleasure.

He started off on some stupid long build up to it, saying it would be the EU, almost courting the criticism. The man can't debate properly, he needs to get to point quicker. He wanted them to shout him down on that, make it look like they'd ganging up on him.
Jon the Hat Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Those of you who would vote UKIP - tell me one policy not related to the EU or immigration, and name three of their senior leadership. Without googling it.

Not letting him get to the point, the truth. If you have a pre-determined negative opinion of UKIP\farage, you are letting it cloud your judgement. I think you might be better off watching it again. Think how many times did the others mention the positives of immigration, yet Ukip and farage aren't saying they don't want positive immigration, just control to ensure it. They seek to discredit him and the party, rather than talk about why their supporters have an issue with it and how to resolve it, that is poor debating.

Without googling it.I can tell you the east midland MEP candidates as I was looking at them earlier and as the debate is the European elections, I'm not sure what relevances local points are right now.

Without googling it. Reintroduction of grammar schools. Opposition to HS2. Paul Nuttell Roger Helmer Diane James Facecloth I disagree, he was the one being spoken over most of the time and I can't believe you have brought up the point on business takeovers to criticise him when since Thursday his viewpoint has pretty much been proved right!
Guest MattP Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 And the comparison with Alex Jones is ridiculous, you're going to need far better slander than that. .
Strokes Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 Desperation, they are worried they might be wooed themselves. Facecloth had a semi on whilst watching him.
Mark_w Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 Don't know if this is being discussed elsewhere?Interesting stuff.
Strokes Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 Don't know if this is being discussed elsewhere? Interesting stuff. The guy doing the interviewing, would hardly let him begin a response before attacking again. Got bored.
Mark_w Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 The guy doing the interviewing, would hardly let him begin a response before attacking again. Got bored. He had plenty of opportunities to defend himself, he just didn't do it very well.
NewburyFox Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 He had plenty of opportunities to defend himself, he just didn't do it very well. The interviewer had some valid points, but spoilt the interview by being argumentative, aggressive and interrupting Farage at every opportunity to prevent him from making any sort of defence.
Strokes Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 He had plenty of opportunities to defend himself, he just didn't do it very well. Not in the few minutes I watched, it didn't really hold my attention. There still hasn't been much offered in regards to farages points on immigration, just smears and character assassination. Its all rather dull, its as if we are supposed to forget all the lies and corruption from the other parties. The race card is becoming boring, its pretty clear they aren't racist as a party. So forgive me if I don't pay much attention to the latest bit of left wing propaganda.
purpleronnie Posted 18 May 2014 Posted 18 May 2014 It really was car crash of an interview, but people will defend him no matter what, why UKIp or any voters for that matter find themselves unable to criticise their party is baffling to me.
