Rincewind Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Does throwing an egg at Nigel Farage make you far-left? Not always but throwing eggs on behalf of those that cannot afford eggs does.
The God Emperor Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 That is all speculation on what could happen, we have no idea what trade deals we will end up with should we leave, and there is no reason to believe we will be able to negotiate better than as part of the EU. Scandinavian countries (edit: and Switzerland) are all net exporters, and so are in a much better position to negotiate deals, our economy is the second largest net importer after the states, we have fvck all to trade and rely on imports so we have very little bargaining power on trade negotiations. of course it's speculation, I can't see the future. why are Scandinavian countries and Switzerland big exporters and we're not? We heavily regulate our economy unlike those places which make things like manufacturing difficult. Even then we still produce a lot of goods, we make more cars in this country than we ever have and other skilled manufacturing like air plane parts etc. Stuff that people will want so we don't have fvck all to offer in negotiations.
lavrentis Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Was down Narborough Road earlier and there was an anti UKIP political van thing It was going fast so I didnt read it all but it was along the lines of Farage wanting to steal your money?
MooseBreath Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 we have fvck all to trade and rely on imports so we have very little bargaining power on trade negotiations. We're the 9th largest exporter in the world driven by a market leading services sector, so I'm not sure that's true. I can't see the EU wanting to give up access to such a high quality and vibrant sector, so a good deal for the continued exportation of our services seems realistic to me. As for importing goods, maybe if we get crap deals from the EU we'll start making more stuff at home, providing domestic jobs and benefitting our own economy rather than that of poor-europe?
Guest MattP Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Photoshopped but did make me chuckle. Was in New Parks earlier and picked up a copy of Labours European election leaflet, basically four pages of just begging people not to vote UKIP.

Dr The Singh Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 I bet it has more smears in it, than new parks.I heard people in new parks were using it to wipe there arse.
Harry - LCFC Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 On Question Time tonight. If ever there was an attempt to plant a few ethnic minorities to show how accepting you are that photo is it! Quite a few big hitters on the panel tonight
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 On Question Time tonight. Is that the full, entirely balanced panel?
Guest MattP Posted 8 May 2014 Posted 8 May 2014 If ever there was an attempt to plant a few ethnic minorities to show how accepting you are that photo is it! Quite a few big hitters on the panel tonight It made me laugh To be fair I'll never usually condone such behaviour but when you are faced with such a ferocious smear campaign from the establishment to brand you racist I understand why he has to make sure the party gets as many as these sort of photos out to the public as possible. They also need to keep pushing the point that Labour are the only party who will accept BNP councillors as defectors back to Labour every time they face one.
Alf Bentley Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 On Question Time tonight. I'm impressed with some of the big names that UKIP has managed to attract there! No surprise to see ex-Olympian Kriss Akabusi (far right of pic), as he was a Tory activist, but quite a coup to attract Neville Lawrence (at Farage's right hand) and the Big Issue's John Bird (behind Lawrence). However, UKIP must be ecstatic to have attracted Tory minister Grant Shapps (behind Farage)....and particularly Labour leader Ed Miliband (standing at back and turning his head as if not sure he's in the right place). In further UKIP news, the party has announced its list of 5 candidates for the European elections (see photo below, with all due apologies for infringing Dr. The Singh's copyright!). All the parties do this sort of thing, and I'm sure UKIP do have some ethnic minority supporters/activists, but they must have had a right laugh putting out that photo! Although I wouldn't vote for him in a million years, Farage is still one of the few politicians that I could imagine enjoying a pint with (Alan Johnson, Ken Clarke, Andy Burnham, Tony Benn, even Boris would be among the others)....though Benn would've been on the lime & soda, if he was still around. Shows the value of parties promoting leaders who come across as vaguely human and/or straight-speaking and/or humorous...not many around, unfortunately.

Some pretty good shouts there, Kris Akabusi Farage was clearly taking the piss with the photo and some people still haven't got it either, Diane Abbott was on This Week last night saying "this isn't fooling anyone" etc and Neal and Portillo were just laughing at her when it become clear she didn't seem to actually get this picture was a deliberate pisstake at the 'establishment'. Looking at the picture I've just actually noticed one of them is the old boxer Winston MacKenzie from London, I bet the left-wing activists won't be cueing to threaten him attending a meeting Thought he came across quite well last night Very well considering he was outnumbered 4-1 and was spoken over every time.
Guest MattP Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 The last question where he was shouted down, laughed at and derided when he said that the EU would block any attempt from our government to make an intervention on the Astrazeneca bid appears to be true as well. How can Dimbleby allow that to happen if it's the truth? http://www.irishtimes.com/business/sectors/health-pharma/eu-likely-to-block-uk-intervention-in-astrazeneca-bid-1.1788471#.U2wi8BJBgvA

Was the audience better balanced this time?
Guest MattP Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 I didn't catch qt last night, hopefully I will watch it tonight. Was the audience better balanced this time? One planted stooge to attack him (You'll know who I mean, found out to be a ex SDLP now working for UAF via Twitter last night) but on balance not too bad. Southampton though so was always going to be hard to bus in lefties for that. Certaoily was better than the week before though when there didnt seem to be a single UKIP supporter in the audience despite running at 35% in the polls.
MPH Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 On Question Time tonight. Thats right out of the Sepp Blatter school of politics, that one is!
Guest MattP Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Thats right out of the Sepp Blatter school of politics, that one is! lol Remember this? As much as I can't stand Blatter I have to applaud him for that, it's piss taking even the best WUM would be proud of.
