connolly19 Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 When do you think we will hear news about new arrivals? Do you think there will be any signings this week?
We need another Taggart Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 Stewart was no. 11... thats a strikers number 129231 It's a wingers number. 129240 well tiattos got it now anywho! im sure 11 is traditonally left wingers number - not good news for stewart tho i suppose 4 new signings is excellent...very supprised if laursen and kenton dont feature and hopefully 2 strikers... promising anyway...
Ric Flair Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 When do you think we will hear news about new arrivals? Do you think there will be any signings this week? 129383 I'd imagine all 4 will be in within 2 weeks unless we have problems agreeing terms with them. From what Mad Biker was saying, it appears to be 'on the cards' which i'd suggest is imminent. By the way, Henderson has passed his medical.

Mad Dog Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 In this country it's actually 6 for centre half and 4 for the defensive midfielder usually. Varies from club to club though. It's different here cause Muzzy had 6, and I reckon Williams wanted to take over his number 6 shirt last season but had to take 16 cause Adams loved Heath so gave him 6.
Louise Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 From the Merc: City report back for pre-season work on Friday and next week will see the schedule accelerate with manager Craig Levein still hopeful of bringing in another two or three new players in the next week or so. Departures may be needed to pave the way for that and Levein has revealed that he will listen to offers for Peter Canero, Matt Heath and Tommy Wright.link

supedaj Posted 29 June 2005 Posted 29 June 2005 Here's my two pence ; Laursen and Kenton would be perfect additions to the back line. Kenton can play at both right and central so will provide options for CL to move Kisnorbo to midfield if needed. The addition for Laursen would give the possibility of using Tiatto on left midfield or stewart on left wing. Alternating between these 3 will be the key with Laursen keeping his place for the majority I imagine. One striker SHOULD IMO be enough for us to be ready I would imagine (we already have Dublin, MDV and DC) as competition is ok but could be better. There is no one rivalling Hughes, Williams or Kisnorbo so Robertson may be the final piece for that. If we got the above I would be fairly confident in us having sufficient resources to compete at a fairly decent level. We would have sufficient cover at all positions and with most of the players being hungry in CLs eyes it should be very interesting. NB : I just hope he can find the perfect back 4 balance and stick to it over the time, even if they make occasional mistakes. MA would chop and change and this led to huge problems where players would be scared to make tackles in case they didnt work and they would be dropped to subs bench for a few games.
Steven Posted 30 June 2005 Posted 30 June 2005 Latest from MB. <_< Henderson is not one of the 4 signings hoped for, things not looking too good regarding us getting Kenton at present either.

Steven Posted 30 June 2005 Posted 30 June 2005 I hope this changes. as far as I know a striker is not among the targets at this time, I and others share your concern at the prospect of starting the season with the current strike force, we can only hope the gaffer feels the same way !

Or 2 centrebacks or 2 midfielders? Our problem was scoring goals, not conceding them. <_<
Louise Posted 30 June 2005 Posted 30 June 2005 No striker? I don't think I've heard a bit of news this close season that has depressed me until that. Lets hope Levein changes his mind because we need one..
Muz Posted 30 June 2005 Posted 30 June 2005 Jesus im getting worried If we go into the season with the current strikeforce then we are going to be up for another relegation battle! Surely CL must see we need a striker surely!
Muz Posted 1 July 2005 Posted 1 July 2005 Warra you all worried about? 130371 I think you just hit the nail on the head there Cobbo <_<
Ric Flair Posted 1 July 2005 Posted 1 July 2005 Levein is playing with fire if he doesn't get us another striker. I find that incredibly odd that he isn't interested in a striker after all the strikers we've missed out on ala Forster, Sidibe, Lovell and CKR. I have every confidence in Levein but if he honestly thinks it's not a risk to go in to the new season with Connolly, Dublin and MDV as our 3 strikers then he's a braver man than I am. Either MDV has turned in to a world beater in the past month or Levein has got so pissed off with not being able to attract the striker he wants and has thrown his toys out of his pram and decided to get us 10 defenders instead. This is excellent news, keep up the good work Craig.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 July 2005 Posted 1 July 2005 I've been saying this all along but it's pretty obvious Levein rates Connolly, Dublin and de Vries and prior to last season I think we all would have been happy with having three strikers of their supposed quality. If we do sign another striker I would still imagine it will be a youngster. We don't particularly need a specialist left-back unless CL has suddenly decided he doesn't want Stewart as first-choice after all. What we need, desperately, are centre-backs. At the moment we have McCarthy (still very inexperienced although he looks to be decent enough to be a starter next season), Kisnorbo (completely unknown quantity, seemed to be third choice defensive midfielder at Hearts so probably not going to be a starting centre-back for us this season), Heath (one foot out the door already) and Stearman (who CL hasn't even played at centre-half yet as he doesn't feel he is ready). We need to replace the likes of Keown, Dabizas, Elliott and Kenton who have all left in the past few months.

One being Jani Sturm and another being a player who had alot of pace to offer us something different. The Sturm deal fell through and it then became common knowledge that he would only be looking for one striker instead of two. So now why has he decided not to even look for one? I'm sorry, but going in to a new season with only 3 strikers is criminal. Connolly is class, Dublin is old and can't cut 46 games and MDV is touch and go. He's injury prone and he's also had an awful start to his Leicester career. Your right in saying those 3 will be his first choice, but we still need a youngster who's pushing them for a first team spot. Infact I find it highly unlikely that Levein won't sign a striker. The fact that in the past week he's said he couldn't agree a fee for Lovell shows he's actively looking at strikers.
Collymore Posted 1 July 2005 Posted 1 July 2005 I don't think everyone should panic yet. Although I know MB has good sources I can't believe CL won't sign a striker before the start of the season. I would prefer CL to take his time rather than panic and sign someone who’s not going to improve our squad or goal scoring chances. I think he's going about this the right way, a rushed purchase could cost us promotion and ruin our future for years to come where as a little patience and good luck on the availability front could be the start of the MON years again.
