Wellens forced to ease off in training

Not anti wellins.

But TBH if he is not upto training let him go. If it was about a guy that puts it in but has to be saved cos of an injury then ok.

But a centre mid not upto it sorry.

So come the end of the season we could be using a sub for a player that just can't finish a match.

Konch can still motor and puts it in so a day off's ok Wellins has never motored.

I know it's different but could you ever see beckham doin this even at his age now.

Just turned 40. I'm gonna ask my boss if I can finish an hour early everyday and have an extra break in the afternoon. It will benefit work in the long run. Give me strength! You are 31. Footballers in my day used to work down pit, hunt for food and turn up for training everyday.

Wellens you lightweight.

Lighten up, it's nearly Christmas...... :santa:

So you basically he's getting to old so let's replace him and let him leave in January.

Basically if you're 31 and feeling tired in the championship I'm not sure you should be captain, midfield general or whatever of one of the largest clubs outside the premiership. I wouldn't let him leave but I'd seriously question if he's capable of going toe-to-toe with top flight players when he's knackered less than halfway through the season.

Not sure if it was someone like Gelson or Danns that Nige would be so keen to let him do it. Wellens is getting the softly treatment because he was one of his best buys.

I commend Pearson for taking this action. It smacks, to me, of astute man management.

As most have said, wellens has been off colour recently. Pearson himself must know this so appears to be trying to work with Ritchie to do something about it. It appears to have worked very well with Konchesky who has more energy on the pitch over the past few games.

The overt criticism of Wellens in here is masking the fact that Pearson and Wellens themselves have identified that a problem exists and are trying to do something about it. Again, because of the massive 'Wellens out' feeling on here, no one is willing to appreciate this and to see whether it may have the desired effect.

Well done to the pair of them for trying to rectify Wellens off form.. Isn't that what effective management is about?

Or are people so anti wellens that they can no longer see the wood for the trees?

Generally speaking I agree, NFP and his team are, by all accounts, well versed in these ('sports science') matters and I would assume that this kind of 'adjustment' happens all the time. That it is deemed newsworthy is perhaps an indication of how much Wellen's current poor form is of concern.

With Johnson and Fernandes likely to be off and Abe seemingly not really in NFP's plans, our supposedly overmanned central midfield is reduced to Wellens, King and Danns, not many options there....... :nono:

Wellens has never had any 'legs' as people put it. He hasn't got pace, and he will be the first to admit it. But King hasn't got an engine, and doesn't have pace either. King always looks tired towards the end of games.

I think that is one of the reason's why our midfield seem to get overrun alot. Wellens is coming to the back end of his career, he knows that (hence talking about retirement), and I think we do need a new midfield - not just a replacement/backup for Wellens, but for King as well. With rumours about Abe, Fernandes and Johnson all leaving, we are left with Danns, Wellens and King. Surely Steve Walsh will have his eye on, at least, two new midfielders.

And what about team moral he's 31 not a world class 35 yr old or ryan giggs FFS.

So he gets an extra day off so are all the other 31yr old and plus players getting the extra day.

Oh and I guess we should extend his contract to finish when he's 36 or 37 should we.

If at 31 a pro player can't hack it he is playing above himself ship him out.

Oh but yes he's been a good servant to us so lets ruin that and let him play on till everyone hates him.

Would your boss give you an extra day off every week cos you'r tired? I guess not.

Or praps the drive to and from donny is getting a little much everyday.

Praps Sven was right after all.

Posted

he lives in Manchester, or that area as he and Gally drive down together

Well thats even further.

And rumours after Sven left that it was about players moving closer the the club.

Hmmmm now one long distance traveler is tired and gets an extra day off.

No wonder he can.t fvcking run.

This scares me even more now thinking about it.

More unrest NP could lose it in record time.

If new players contracts say tht to live within a certain distance of the club.

Then Wellens gets an extra day off cos he is tired.

THIS IS TOO FVCKING SCARY TO THINK ABOUT.

Ian Walker commuted from London the whole time, Gally can still run its more about Wellens and his lack of basic fitness

Wellyfox... Think about what you are saying..

You can't have the first clue about why this arrangement has been set up with Wellens?

Maybe Pearson has told him that he is going to try this and to give him three games.. If he doesn't improved he might be dropped... Maybe that's the plan?

Or perhaps Wellens has a recurring injury that is gonna flare up big time if he trains all week.

Perhaps the other players are fully behind this arrangement, or perhaps they aren't?

How the Hell can you have the faintest clue as to why Pearson has done this with Wellens?

The point, for me, is that I trust that Pearson has done this to get the best out of the player... In a similarly way perhaps, as Harry Rednapp does with Ledley King and his dodgy knees!

This is about management of people, given various circumstances over which neither you nor I have little clue.

Finally, it's been reported that Nige is doing the same thing with Konchesky, yet wonder of wonders no one appears to be complaining re. Konchesky?

Wonder why that is?

Your dislike of Wellens oozes out of every sentence you make, which is what I said originally.

Heaven forbid someone should raise concerns about a senior member of the squad who is currently underperforming and asking reasons why.

We could all sit like you with your head in the sand or post pointless pictures but some want answers.

There is 'asking why' and then there is this...an unrelenting assassination of one of our best players over recent years. A player that is current captain of the team and, despite, poorer rcent form than usual, one which has never done anything more than giving his all for Leicester City Football Club.

In Wellens we have a player who is being blamed for everything that is bad about this team:

Lack of creativity...Wellens fault

Lack of team motivation...Wellens fault

Lack of goals from the best paid player at the club...Wellens fault. etc. etc. etc...

Yes Wellens has not been as good as usual this season.. but to lay all the blame for the team's ills at his feet is to do what many on here claim to abhore...its called 'scapegoating'.

Someone earlier mentioned 'Jesus'... ironic really that he too became crucified by those who once loved him.

Thank you, no problem.

As an aside, I am well aware of your views and if you care to make them in a reasoned manner I am actually interested in your (and others obviously) perspective.

Swapping views with a fellow fan is something I enjoy, even when I disagree and, believe it or not, I find myself looking at things in a different way when people make decent arguments.

Presumeably Mrs Wellens' regards are sent because she now gets to 'spend more time' with her husband?......
