This made me laugh.

I sit next to a forest fan at work, who's a good lad actually, and he heads up the Forest LTLF forum.

Last night they had a "Night with Peter Shilton" at the approach in Nottingham last night

and Shilts reckons Forest are in a better position than us for geting in the play offs this season ! had to laugh

Fair enough we havent been playing great (well we have been playing great I think, just cant finish!) but Forest are in the relegation zone, trouble within the sqad, people hate Cotterril, etc, etc...

So if anyones in a better position it would be us i think ! all we need is some midfielders to start feeding Nuge and becks PROPERLY and they will bang em in.

Shilts has turned red he's abandon his Leicester roots for the Trent, he was on Celebrity Eggheads the other night and was commenting on how someone's red shirt looked good.

Certainly wouldn't want a statue of him, it would need a red shirt on it and I don't think many would find that acceptable.

I was in the hospitality at Forest v us about five years ago when Shiltion was doing the meet and greet thing, and l ask him in front of some Forest fans who his team was, and with no hesitation he said Leicester.

shame he never shows it nationally, to most people he's ex-England and ex-Forest we don't get a look in

To be fair to Shilton, it's not his fault we were a club who were unwilling to invest when he played for us. Even the best Leicester sides, have always needed 2/3 other players to make them a force in the top division.

Shilton is just the same as Lineker & Heskey because if they are good enough to be in a top side challenging for honours, they always have to move to a club with bigger ambitions and in Shilts time Forest were such a club. You can hardly blame him for wanting to play under Clough & win a title & couple of European cups, even if it is with a rival club.

Perhaps he fell out of love with us in the early 90's when he was playing for Derby. I imagine he would have been a little upset with the "Frankie ****ed your Missus" Chants. lol

Except, if my old memory serves me right, at the exact point in time, Stoke paid us a lot of money for him and so were seen to be more ambitious than us - I couldn't believe he went there, but accepted they must have been determined to better themselves by buying a big name- also, with hindsight, maybe he thought time to move on as the Weller/Wortho era was not going to get any higher.

I can remember the "Wortho ... your Mrs.. " chant at Stoke away not long after he left us.

As well as Forest and Stoke hes regarded highley at Derby County. They all seem to regard him as one of their own hes often invited to speak at these clubs but not at LCFC a lot of water has passed under the bridge since Shilton played for us and he seems to have found more of an affinity to other clubs. The same can be said about Gordan Banks and Stoke I suppose.

Shilton left us for Stoke, but not because he thought they were ambitious, with a chance of winning things, but because they were offering the most money.

Shilton has never come across to me,since the day he left us, as having any real feeling for our club.

He was an absolutely fantastic keeper though, and i feel lucky to have seen him in a Leicester shirt.

It's very obvious that Shilton's loyalties don't lie with us. If they did, he wouldn't have gone there in the first place when he could have played for anyone. He wanted success and that's fine, he didn't care who it was with, a great player for Leicester but a Leicester legend I think not.

Disagree.. The man has the most England caps for a player, ousted Gordon Banks and played in the World Cup at 40. Fantastic keeper for Leicester then others and a true legend of the game let alone Leicester. We should be grateful as a club to be associated with someone like him. It is our embarassment that we do not associate him and Banks more with our club and not theirs.

We sold Banks to Stoke to keep him happy and keep him here. Of course he is going to arse lick Florest fans it's now his bread and butter. The good thing is he is no pundit on tv ( to thick even by tele standards ) and he could hardly Write for a newspaper sports page ( illiterate ) so no harm done then.

But we aren't really.

I don't see why we should be grateful considering we were the one who gave him his start in football and got rid of the World Cup winning best goalkeeper in the world for him, then he ended up helping them win the European Cup. He should be grateful to us. He in fact gave us no real success.
