What would the owners target next season be automatic promotion again?

I don't think they will have a target but will be hoping for top 6

I absolutely believe that Nigel Pearson is the long-term answer for the club.

The players he has signed look good..especially Drinkwater who IMO was EXACTLY the type of good young player that Sven should have signed.

Nige has got the fitness back in the players, and the work-rate, which is now not in question.

I feel he has inherited an average squad of players, and will somehow have to turn around some questionable signings that Sven left him with. If this means some have to be sold in the summer, then I'm sure this will happen (if there are any takers of course).

If we list the players that Pearson has at his disposal, I genuinely feel that a number of these are simply not good enough to secure promotion. Some of Pearson's 'old guard' are not gonna get us up..the likes of Gally and Wellens are decent Championship players, but that's all they are.

And in Mills, Danns and even Beckford.. we have players who IMO are not of sufficient quality, consistently anyway, to get us out of this division. Dont forget, even with his recent improvement in form, Beckford has still only scored 4? league goals all season... this isn't good enough to mount a realistic promotion campaign.

i'd love for us to have a great run now and somehow sneak into the play-offs.. However, I don't believe it will happen.

It looks like its gonna take some major work to develop a squad of players who are going to be good enough to start controlling games, dominating games and winning games.

However, I do believe Pearson can do it... only next season if he's still here...

Yes, I believe in Pearson..but I would not be surprised if there is a major clear-out in the summer.

Sorry, my comment was meant to be attached to Col City Fan, I agree completely with all of these comments

Consistently good performances and we have a chance.

Thats been the problem all season.

Gally, for example, can be sensational one week, then utterly dire the next..

Beckford can look like a player of real talent one half, then like a pub player the next...

Mills can deliver a delicious 40 yard pass one minute, then drill it straight to the opposition the next.

Dyer can create havoc in one attack, then go missing for the next 70 minutes.

Such has been the story of the season thus far, and was a carry over from the start of Sven's reign.

If Pearson is somehow able to inject some proper consistent performances into the squad only then will we have a chance.

As I've said before and I don't want to put too much pressure on the lad, the signing of Drinkwater could be the key. If he stays fit he could be the engine in the central midfield area to drive the whole thing forward.

It's no coincidence, to my mind, that Wellens is starting to look much better alongside Drinky.. The latter gives Wellens the time he needs to 'create' because he is aware that Drinkwater will pick up on the defensive duties.

Drinkwater could, just could, be the signing of the season?

Heres hoping...

Have some faith, a decent result against Watford and you never know

See you win one you lose one, were utter garbage im afraid, a billion miles off promotion material

I think tonight's performance answers this threads question. He is not even the short term answer. Putting on donkey Howard as some kind of weird panic measure said it all. It seems we not only always get shit referees we always get shit managers too.

Um err, err, um. um. err err um, What was the question?, err

.

I find it strange, well not strange but I can't think of the word, how you have said that Pearson is not the long term option already. Ok, our league results maybe like a rollercoaster but keep in mind Nigel Pearson walked into a team that was large but unbalanced with only a month to buy players (with probably 50% of what Sven got, if not less).

Let Pearson get to the end of the season. He will clear the deadwood and continue to bring in his own players. Look at the job he did at Hull for example, clearing their debts and deadwood, and reforming the team. I think saying Pearson is not the answer after about 4 months is ridiculous - when Sven was manager everyone stated that it wasn't his team - well generally this isn't Pearson's. I know he had January to do business but that isn't long enough, in addition to the fact we don't know what goes on behind closed doors especially regarding transfers.

We have looked more organised and motivated with Pearson in charge. Some player's have looked better, for instance St Ledger who has grown into our best defender in my opinion, and although we should have beaten teams like Watford and Barnsley, that isn't how it works. Give him time. I agree with Watson, Nigel Pearson, will get us up there and I do believe this. People who didn't want Pearson as manager are very quick to get on his back when it isn't going Leicester City's way. But it will.

I think Nigel is a medium term option.

He can (and will) get us promoted next season but I don't know if he has what it takes to keep us in the Premier League.
