I absolutely believe that Nigel Pearson is the long-term answer for the club.

The players he has signed look good..especially Drinkwater who IMO was EXACTLY the type of good young player that Sven should have signed.

Nige has got the fitness back in the players, and the work-rate, which is now not in question.

I feel he has inherited an average squad of players, and will somehow have to turn around some questionable signings that Sven left him with. If this means some have to be sold in the summer, then I'm sure this will happen (if there are any takers of course).

If we list the players that Pearson has at his disposal, I genuinely feel that a number of these are simply not good enough to secure promotion. Some of Pearson's 'old guard' are not gonna get us up..the likes of Gally and Wellens are decent Championship players, but that's all they are.

And in Mills, Danns and even Beckford.. we have players who IMO are not of sufficient quality, consistently anyway, to get us out of this division. Dont forget, even with his recent improvement in form, Beckford has still only scored 4? league goals all season... this isn't good enough to mount a realistic promotion campaign.

i'd love for us to have a great run now and somehow sneak into the play-offs.. However, I don't believe it will happen.

It looks like its gonna take some major work to develop a squad of players who are going to be good enough to start controlling games, dominating games and winning games.

However, I do believe Pearson can do it... only next season if he's still here...

Yes, I believe in Pearson..but I would not be surprised if there is a major clear-out in the summer.

If Neil Warnock is still available, I fear the owners may cut their losses with NP at the end of the season if he fails to get us into the playoffs. Hope I am wrong.

He is the ultimate long-term answer

Drinkwater - 21

Marshall - 20

Are typical of his signings everywhere he's been

whether he gets there is a different matter

Nigel Pearson is the best manager we can have for a club at our level. For me he is a fantastic manager and WILL get us up. I just hope that the owners persevere until we get there...

Additionally I'm looking forward to the pessimists eating their words. I'm sure they will. Although it would be nice that until then everyone just gets behind the club. There is no future in moaning constantly! Just enjoy the ride....

He is the only man for the job IMO.

We're already seeing more young and hungry players coming into the club and hopefully he can restore the pride I had in the football club during his first 2 years in charge.

I know this will sound a bit convenient to the anti-Pearson brigade but I honestly think we'll be right up there next season after NP has had a proper pre-season etc.

Yeah, I was thinking of adding the very same sentiment to my original post. I just hope Top and his Pops can see that we are improving and don't judge him on the basis of not making the playoffs. We'd be baxk to square 1 if they gave him the chop just as something is starting to build.

Its been said before by others but we really do need some stability and consistency now and like you say chopping and changing the manager isnt going to achieve that

The owners want promotion and they will do it at whatever cost to achieve it as evident by the summer's spending, I have said it before if you want a long term project then NP is the man for that it may take 2-3 seasons of building then automatic promotion, a stop gap solution would be Neil Warnock and everyone knows he can get championship teams promoted but is useless in the prem. It is over to you Thais what do you want?

Installed when we were two points short of the play offs. Now we are eight. What a superb manager! lol lol lol lol

i wasnt very impressed when we got pearson initially if im honest but can we really tempt any better? we need stability and not to keep chopping and changeing

I agree with this .... I am not blown away by NP - but think stability is the least risky option. I can't see anyone that appeals more than him, so think it's best to tolerate what we have. I really wish he'd realise that he's talking to the fans of his club when speaking into Stringer's microphone, not to Stringer, so the "I can't be arsed with this, you're a twat" attitude that he has really doesn't do him any favours.

fcuk warnock! YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME! This thread comes to the top everytime we lose a game and seems to sink like a stone when we beat SOTON and Forest 4-0 get a grip it's pathetic

To be fair, I think that is generally how NP speaks

I agree we need stability, but I just don't believe Pearson can bring this about.

I will only be happy to have to eat my words.

Yeah your right lets get stability by sacking ANOTHER manager especially one we've already sacked :D

You seem to fail to grasp basic maths concepts.

Before NP arrived we were accruing 1.38pts/game this was good enough to finish 12th in 2010/11 some-way short of owners backing a manager with a transfer budget sufficient to buy the title or at least 2nd.

With this points run-rate then of course the gap will be smaller earlier & then grow larger over time, that's what happens with a run-rate which isn't good enough, teams above us with higher run-rates or those below us with better form & higher run-rates will OBVIOUSLY widen the gap over time.

It's not a reflection of management as seems to suit your agenda, but it's just basic maths that as more games are played the gap gets larger

Example: If team A are getting 2pts per game & team B 1.5pts, then after 2 games the gap would be just 1 point, but after 10 games the gap would be 5pts

Of course 12th is better than our current 13th, but one sub-standard position over another sub-standard position is hardly worth getting your knickers in a twist over especially as so much appears wrong with the playing staff and their ivory-tower attitude, hopefully with the added balance to the squad then over time this situation can improve, but injuries & suspensions are against us at the moment so it's going to be a while before we see the fruits of our endeavours.

Are you with us, or against us?

Absolutely, I'm certain that he will be the man to take us forward. He needs to be given the appropriate time to compile his squad and build it but if anybody can do it, he can.

i think this is what we all have to hope for - there is no reason why Pearson cant turn things around given the time

i think anyone who wasnt totally happy with the Pearson appointment would gladly eat their words if City turn things around, either this season or next tbh

This is right, i do worry that if results havent improved by the first 15 games of next season that he may not be given that time though?

NP won't need 15 games at the start of the season. His signings will be young and hungry, the players will be gelled and the disruptive and dead wood will be gone
