Doncaster Rovers Match Ratings

Recommended Posts

Didn't see a thread, so I'll start to review one of the worst games I have ever been too. (Feel free to merge or whatever if there is a thread already).

Kasper - 5 - Kicking was poor, and I think the first goal went through his body (hard to see from my seat).

Peltier - 5

Bamba - 5

St Legder - 6 - Best defender in my opinion. Was ok in defence, and good going forward

Konchesky - 6

Gallagher - 0 - Not even worth a rating. Get rid of him because he is sh1t.

Wellens - 4 - Poor.

King - 3 - Poor.

Dyer - 1 - Another player that isn't good enough.

Nugent - 7 - Our man of the match for sure. Chased every ball as per, and, a great finish.

Howard - 4 - Cannot understand why he was brought back in.

acooling, he is sh!t. Honestly. And his set pieces are about as good as mine. His 'dangerous corners' today, didn't even beat the first man. But on Gallagher, he needs selling, he is useless.

oh come on! some of those there give us your ratings - blimey even our fans are getting the team's "slow to react" disease!

What?!

Kasper 5 - awful kicking, bad mistake for their first.

Pelts 6 - looked a bit shaky to start but grew in confidence.

Konch 6 - average performance.

Bamba 4 - made to look like a mug.

SSL - 6 Defended well.

Gallagher 2 - Laughable Performance

Dyer 2 - See Gally

Wellens 3 - dreadful.

King 4 - bar 2 decent tackles he was guff.

Howard 4 - Set the goal up, but offered little and gave them many a free kick.

Nuge 7 - felt sorry for him, had to do 2 players running and scored an awesome goal.

Beckford 6 - looked more Dangerous than Howard has all season in the 15 minutes he got. Pissed off he was booed on my some morons.

On that logic the midfield is the perennial problem no surprises lets hope we overhaul it and bring in quality.

For someone who purports to be a thinker about the game, it seems strange that you appear to have rated players based upon your overall opinion of them, rather than their actual individual performances.

No surprise to see the highest rated midfielder as well :D

You talking about me? Yeah I hate Gallagher, and today he was also sh!t again. The guy is laughable.

I was.

In Wellens threads, I always see you imply that Wellens criticism is unjust and that anyone who shares your view on his worth is therefore someone who 'thinks' about the game in more depth.

Owing to this considered approach, it therefore surprises me to see you seem to have rated based upon emotion rather than actually eschewing the virtues (or lack of) of individual performances.

I'll also be interested to see how many people (those who aren't 'haters') rate Wellens as the best midfielder as well.

Did you go? There was no best midfielder. I have said in a Wellens thread he needs dropping, as do ALL of the midfield.

lol

It's the fact That Gallagher did absolute nothing worse as Wellens, so why give him a 4 and Gallagher a 0?

That's laughable.

Why oh why are we playing Howard still? He shouldnt even be on the bench ffs! Is Pearson in love with long ball fall on you arse Howard? Why not play schlupp? Whats the worst that can happen? I think there's a lot of favouritism going on. Which could well be his downfall, and I'm sure there will be some of are better players unhappy and looking to leave soon! But the from the looks of things the likes of Howard and Gallagher will be here for a while.

Schmeichel 5 - dodgy handling, kicking and would like to see it again but for once probably shot-stopping if the header went through him as if it seemed to

Peltier 6 - fairly solid, not a lot got past him and did his best to support when able

Konchesky 6 - as Peltier

Bamba 5 - started very brightly but seemed to get worse as the game went on

St. Ledger 5 - him and Bamba seemed to go missing during the period of Doncaster's goals

Gallagher 4 - only marked this high due to putting in some decent deliveries which certain individuals really should have made more of. Outfield play was woeful.

Dyer 3 - extremely ineffective, some may say this is due to him not getting the service, I say he hasn't got a footballing brain and makes some ridiculous off the ball runs.

Wellens 4 - poor, only seems to play well in those home games that we win by 4 or 5

King 3 - seems to be getting worse by the week and how did he miss that sitter in the second half?

Howard 6 - don't think you could ask any more of him but he's too limited to have any more effect in a game than what he had today which simply isn't good enough

Nugent 7 - chased down defenders to win a number of corners, and scored with what looked like a sublime finish in the first half

Subs:

Beckford 6 - actually did ok when he came on, looked fired up although I would be wanting to prove a point if I'd just lost my starting place to Steve Howard.

Think we need to go 4-3-3 and abandon the idea of width until we bring in some better wide players in January. Dyer and Gally aren't good enough out there and it is leaving us too short in the middle. My starting eleven for Ipswich would be Schmeichel, Peltier, Konchesky, Bamba, Mills, Danns, Abe, Fernandes, Nugent, Howard, Beckford. At least with two strikers alongside him and more central midfielders, there is a better chance of Howard finding players with his flick-ons. We have to play to our limitations until we find players that address the lack of balance in the squad.

Schmeichel- 5 (Kicking was off and possibly could've done better with the equaliser)

Peltier- 5 (Did okay, nothing special)

St Ledger- 5 (Tough day against Sharp)

Bamba- 6 (Dealt well with Fortune in the main)

Konchesky- 6 (Ran forward well)

Gallagher- 5 (Little impact)

King- 5 (Made a couple of interceptions, should've scored near the end)

Wellens- 5 (Wasted chances and too slow again)

Dyer- 5 (Same as Gallagher)

Nugent- 6 (Runs his heart out, great finish)

Howard- 5 (Tries but is not the answer)
