Kasper Schmeichel has called on the Blue Army to stick with Nigel Pearson's Leicester City as they look to return to winning ways today.

City have picked up just one point from their last three games.

Some sections of the King Power Stadium booed when they could only draw 1-1 with Peterborough United on their last appearance on home soil. Since then, they have crashed to defeat at Doncaster Rovers.

Goalkeeper Schmeichel said today's visit of Ipswich Town and the home game against Portsmouth on Saturday were the perfect opportunities to get their promotion challenge back on track.

City are looking to turn around a season that, so far, has not lived up to expectations.

At the start of the campaign, City and West Ham were 6-4 joint favourites for promotion.

The Hammers have lived up to that billing and are second in the table. But City are in 11th spot and the bookies now rate them as 9-2 shots to win a top-flight place behind West Ham (1-3), Southampton (1-2), Middlesbrough (9-4) and Cardiff (5-2).

"We have to start picking up soon and two home games is the best scenario for us," said Schmeichel, who has probably been City's star performer this season.

"It is of huge importance for the fans to stick with us. I don't think anyone plays well in a negative atmosphere."

"They are of massive importance to us. We need them behind us as much as we need to perform for them.

"I try to give a lot of encouragement because not everyone is going to have a great game and, if someone is struggling, they need us to help them out.

"It is no good when players, coaches and fans start shouting and getting on their back because that is going to affect them more negatively than anything else.

"It is important that we are all together and encourage each other because at some point in the season everyone is going to need it."

Schmeichel said he can understand the supporters' frustrations because the players have felt the same way after losing control of games against Posh and at Doncaster.

"We have to control games for more than an hour," he said.

"It is understandable and it is frustrating to play in as well as watch.

"We can control games for that period and all of a sudden it changes.

"At Doncaster, Billy Sharp was top-drawer and he turned it for them.

"But it is frustrating for us players, too, when that happens."

City supporters are being advised to allow plenty of travelling time for today's game and Saturday's clash against Portsmouth.

With some public transport reduced, City are expecting increased traffic to the King Power Stadium for today's match.

But it is naive to ask the fans to be better fans in the same way us shouting "play better" from the terraces is not really addressing the issue, we are unbalanced, lack leadership on the pitch and our team spirit has been erroded by 18 months of poor management. Likewise the fans are too separated on the terraces to get some serious singing going, and have also been dragged down by overspending, too many loanees and poor performances for the last 18 months.

If the players want to improve the fans, they should back campaigns to get rid of pre match and goal music, allow us to create an official singing block next to the away fans and stop ridculous regulations on bringing in flags and banners.

Otherwise they are just like us whining from the terraces.

The main reason being we have spent possibly the most out of any championship club in one transfer window, also if you take last season into account we have spent close to £20 million. The problem is, we have yet to justify the money we have spent, and you can't be happy with spending that much money and be positioned mid table. We go into every game clouded by uncertainty, until we have consistency in both results and team selection then some fans will remain disgruntled. Hate to sound like a broken record but ticket prices don't help either, say we get pushed over 0-2 today with a lack luster performance, it is going to cost a family in and around £100 for tickets, just after christmas. Some things need to be seen to. At the end of the day the customers have a right to be critical until we start to pull our weight, at the end of the day, anything less than a top 6 finish this season, will be a failure.

I agree it's a two way thing but as far as i'm concerned it starts on the pitch.

We go to be entertained, entertainment isn't always guarenteed, we know that, but we pay for our tickets, and expect to see something back for that money, they show good performances and the fans will let them know, in the same way if they are poor (As poor as they have been) and some fans will get on there backs.

Gotta take the rough with the smooth and if they perform they won't get no rough. Simple.

(Easier said than done and I know no player goes out there not wanting to perform to the best of their ability, e.t.c, but i'm sorry as a fan I'm not accepting any blame)

Spot on, we have yet to justify the money we have spent and with money being spent comes pressure I think this was mentioned too in another topic, expectations are now higher at this club and some players can not deal with them as evident in recent fixtures. This is the usual point of view that gets trotted out, they are paid lots of money they should be able to play better, but it is irrelevant, what happens on the pitch has nothing to do with money, I don't know how many on here play sports regularly, probably quite a few, surely you must have days/games where you just playing shit, nothing you can do about it, you try and change it but every pass goes astray every decision you make is a wrong one, and every little mistake gets punished, it's called being human. It happened to me the other day, I was playing badminton with my house mate, as I do quite regularly and normally beat him comfortably, and in the first match I won easily, then in the second match I just couldn't get in to it, everything was coming off the frame, every serve was short, and every smash went in to the net. It was so frustrating, I went on to lose 5-1 and was so pissed off and fed up, and everything I tried just failed. Even the most basic simple things were just beyond me.

I know these are professionals, they earn lots of money, they train all day every day, but they are not robots and things like momentum, team spirit and frame of mind are so important, and some times you just have bad days, in team games when one person is having a bad day others can pick up the slack, or the manager can make a change. The problem at the moment is that too many players are having off days, and NP seems unwilling to make changes, I wasn't suprised that he didn't use all the subs against Doncaster, he never seems to just go for it at the end, make as many attacking subs as possible and just throw everything at the goal.

Anyway, we need to do, as fans and as a club, is forget about the money we have, forget about what the players earn, what we have spent, and what we will spend and just concentrate on getting a team together that will fight for every ball, work their collective socks and make us proud to be fans again. What I wouldn't give to have a Walsh or a Claridge in the team, not the most gifted of players, but worked so hard for the team that any mistakes were forgiven by the team because they would work hard to recover any mistakes. I think this is where Wellens is losing it with the fans at the moment, he makes mistakes and complains, if one of his passes goes astray, he should be busting a gut to win the ball back, whether it was his fault or someone elses, nobody benefits from moaning on the pitch while the play goes on around you.

I don't know I've kind of gone off my point and startedrambling, so I will say get behind the team, get excited on the terraces and applaud the good things louder than you moan, starting from today.

It's always an interesting debate, I can understand why people boo but I don't do it personally.

The atmosphere at our ground, done to death, it's too negative and too quiet, yep we have a couple of singing sections but they're in the total minority sadly.

The point is for some of these players

misplaced, underhit, overhit passes is part of their game, every game, some players just never improve and that's the point I was making, with all the time they have to improve their game there is simple no excuse in mind for someone like Mills to not have improved that aspect of his game this is why I went on to add this comment "

Having an off day is acceptable but then that's not the only problem is it, they even admit they've lost the initiative in games and heads have fallen which Pearson himself has declared unacceptable so why do they expect the fans to find it acceptable?

I get fully behind the team and often find, even at my age I'm singing / cheering them on on my own but there's only so much one can take especially after recent years of having your enthusiasm worn down by so many inept performances and the continual changes to both management and players it's so disheartening and demotivating.

Thing is I not having the 'off day' excuse because despite people saying we're not consistent, we are, unfortunately we're consistent at making silly mistakes that cost us though.

That is where the fans frustration comes from, like DavieG says it not just 1 misplaced pass or 1 mistake it time after time, game after game, and you just come to expect it and get frustrated to see it.

I don't see why a player has to say this every week.

Of course the majority don't want to get on the players backs, but we are human, just like them. They are prone to bad games (and too many of them so far) as we are prone to groaning out of raw emotion when things aren't going well. It really is like they think we are against them. Asking us to 'stick with them' is pointless, I want to stick with them, I'm not going to boo them during the game and hardly anyone does, but I will get pissed off sometimes.

I wish they'd just come out and say that the fans have a right to be unhappy, our league position and performances are nothing short of humiliating in the circumstances. I don't want their opinion on us every week and I don't want them telling us what to do, if we're not good enough maybe they'd rather play in front no fans and not get paid.

They should be concentrating on themselves.
