Ipswich Post Match: 1-1

Same old same old

It's a given we'll concede & we don't get much on target.

If the club has hopes for this season there needs to be wholesale changes in personnel, starting at the back, through the middle, out wide & up-front.

Half the season gone, 31 points taken, 30 goals scored.

We need a serious improvement, and very soon.

We look what we are- an inconsistent mid-table side, not bad enough to be near the bottom, nowhere near good enough to trouble the top.

But when you've spent as much as we have, being mid-table is simply not good enough: considering we were a playoff side 2 years ago.

It isn't good enough, I've stated that elsewhere.

No-one should be happy, or even content, at the moment with both our league position or our match performances.

If the intention was to reach the top six then we are a fair way short. But the talk was about the top two, so we're not even close to where we said we'd be.

We should have won the last three games (including the game today) against the teams who are below us at the moment and we've only picked up 2 points from a possible 9!

Pathetic!

Desperately need a run like Reading... 5 wins in 6 to boost them into the playoffs. 2nd bottom after 6 games with just 4 points (3 of which came from us -_-)

Oh I've never felt more like we're taking the piss when we're stuck down in 12th and Reading are up to 6th.

Ohhhh Leicester, you're fooking taking the piss.

I don't want to get on the teams back but why are Reading always better? :glare:

Another game and Schmeichel saves our bacon. We were ran down for the entire first 45mins. Ipswich got their tactics right and the pressure on our midfield to display any sort of decent pass became null and void.

2nd half improvements were to be seen but even that was average at best.

Konchesky, Abe, Peltier, Gally for the peno, Schemeichal for keeping us in it, to me are the only ones to praise. The others were pish poor.

Late substitutions when chasing for vital points is not positive tactics from Pearson. We should have put Schlupp on about the 75th min at least.

Watched the live stream- I don't know what's up with us- suppose can't ignore fact that Ipswich came into game on a bit of form and they've got a few experienced heads, but still thought we should have really pushed them harder second half - maybe likepeople have said put Bamba in midfield - King was invisible again when he came on

shite but remember we are only half way through the season, plenty to play for

True, but we can't bottle it again like we did in the 2nd half of last season!

Abe was our best player today for me, along with Gally.

Seriously cannot think that Beckford had a shot! Literally cannot think of one.

Of course, all the ostriches will blame a 'lack of supply' but Gally put in some lovely crosses, especially first half and neither of our strikers were anywhere near them.

Again, no gambling, no rising to head the ball... Nothing....

Literally nothing in the final third, except Nugent getting his toe on one on about 70 mins...

I watched the stream and got commentary on Foxes player.

Same old story is spot on. We need to get rid of 3 midfielders and bring in 3.

A winger and a creative centre mid is essential.

The central midfielders were invisible for large parts of today's game. Abe did Ok second half but he's proved he's too inconsistent. Why are stringer and Youngy asking if he's got a future in front of the back 4 as if we've just signed him? He's had chances to make that position his own and has failed. He's just another midfielder who isn't good enough long term. King and Wellens are shadows of their former selves. We've got no ideas and no creativity.

I have no idea what Youngy and Stringer were on about in regards to Beckford. He was absolute cack again. Useless and he's always the first player I would consider taking off because he never looks like making an impact. The 2nd half he brought the ball down once and then skewed it wide. Other than that he was the same as usual, struggled to make a difference and had a fair few stupid moments where he miscontrolled it when he looked under no pressure. And BTW, Youngy, you utter clown, I'm pretty sure the cheers for him were sarcastic.

The movement off the ball is terrible. A lot of them don't look interested, why aren't they demanding the ball, moving into space, moving towards the ball to help the man in possession?

Do people still think the defence is fine? As a unit, I'm concerned. They are OK as individuals but there's little organisation and it's leading to ridiculous mistakes and we're conceding shocking goals. Lets not forget the penalty we gave away early on. Konchesky and Bamba were poor today. But why is it all Bamba's fault Youngy? He sounds more and more moronic every game. Some of the things he comes out with, honestly.

We need to change quite a bit, personnel-wise yes but some of the basic errors are just pathetic. I just want to give up on them at the moment. Week after week my hope is destroyed.

Agreed, especially with this bit, you can't say we didn't put any good balls in, I'm not blaming one individual but no midfielder or striker did anything with them.

Creativity is obviosuly still a problem but what is the excuse for that? Our heading is terrible.

True, but we can't bottle it again like we did in the 2nd half of last season!

It was the 2nd half of last season in Jan/Feb that made the season (obviously we bottled it from March onwards when Sven became obsessed with Bruma dropping Mee & Vitor after MotM performances & upset the apple cart)

Last December we lost 4 away games in a row & only won 1 home game & our Jan Feb form put is within spitting distance of the top 2 for a short while, all we can hope is that we can repeat that and not fade away this time.

We are only halfway through the season, a season which so far has failed to spark, being in the top six for four days and milling mainly between 8th and 14th.

We can't put a run together. Brighton did it, Hull have done it, Reading have. Why can't we?

Defensively other than the goal, we were okay! Midfield was again shite bar Abe, King did **** all when he came on, and I couldn't care less if we fobbed him off in January. We've spent nearly £20million in 2011 and look where we are? At the moment were playing a 4-0-2 formation. the 4-4-2 doesn't work with the players we have, Gally can't beat a man and Dyer should have asked for a cross for Christmas, because boy he needs one. As for people criticizing beckford, Howard is ****ing useless, we may as well play a giant stuffed teddy bear up front and at the moment we have tumble weed manning the midfield.... Hopefully we can pull our socks up and keep ourselves in one piece until January, because unfortunately we will need to get the wallet out again.
