Milton Keynes Fox Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 And Beckford isn't? beckford has no supply
Webbo Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 beckford has no supply He gets the same supply as Howard.
acooling08 Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 The only positive I can muster is that Abe had a very good game.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Because we are too inconsistent! Still haven't won consecutive games have we?
Corky Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Because we are too inconsistent! But why are we? Why can we play well one week, or do enough to get a win, then not follow it up with another? The same in the second 23 games will get us to 62 points, five fewer than last season. We need around 47 points to reach the play-offs I reckon, that's two points per game. The management and players have serious work to do.
Kitchandro Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 beckford has no supply Not entirely true. We put in a number of good crosses today and he was nowhere to be seen. And he can't have it on a plate for him every week, if he can't do basic things like pass it simple when you've got 3 defenders ahead of you, or control it properly, or shoot within 10 yards of the target, if he can't even get in the box when we're in a dangerous position then it's not good enough. Blaming the midfeild for him being a poor all-round footballer is not right.
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Not entirely true. We put in a number of good crosses today and he was nowhere to be seen. and nugent was?
Kitchandro Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Abe was outstanding today. No, he was better than a lot of them, not outstanding, first half he was poor in fact.
Kitchandro Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 and nugent was? No. Stop changing the subject, this isn't about Howard or Nugent, this is about Beckford. Nugent's all round game is 10 times better than Beckford's though.
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Until NP takes off his Richie "four days a week" Wellens tinted glasses off, we will continue to put in sub-standard performances. The usual sluggish predictable start was made and another 45 minutes of football was a total waste of time.
Callabinho Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 beckford has no supply No he really isn't, he had a good game today, and being stuck out on the wing for most of the second half what more could he do? imagine Howard on the wing? Imagine Howard starting every week?
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Another shit performance, I'm not even bothering against Portsmouth!!!!! Main problem is the midfield. No service for forwards and no protection for the defence. The whole lot of them run around like headless chickens. Persons tactics wrong again, Wellens starting!! No pace, no strength, no creativity, we're not dangerous - just too easy to play against. Refusing to waste my money watching this shit every week.- I don't even think the January window can save us.
FrankieADZ Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 it was all a bit of a muchness today. Started like a fat man in the 100 meters..and they took advantage of that. i thought 1st half we wasnt at the races at all....but 2nd we started to play alot more; we'll it wasnt great. I think they need a rocket up there arse & to start playing for the shirt...
Mack Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 It's not happening, and I don't think anyone really knows exactly why. The last roll of the dice for 2011/12 is the transfer window, but I think we have so much ground to cover to get back at the sharp end that I would very much doubt it now. I hope the owners stick with Pearson and allow him to build in the summer, including letting go those who don't want to put it in for the club whatever the reason maybe.
Kitchandro Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 No he really isn't, he had a good game today, and being stuck out on the wing for most of the second half what more could he do? imagine Howard on the wing? Imagine Howard starting every week? Er, here's a thought, maybe Beckford and Howard aren't the only 2 strikers to choose from? How about lets get a good striker? FFS, these excuses are completely ignoring the point, if he cannot do the basics and he's not scoring what is he doing right?
iamafox Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Still haven't won consecutive games have we? No we haven't. Tbh, I don't think we are good enough to win back to back games for the rest of the season! But why are we? Why can we play well one week, or do enough to get a win, then not follow it up with another? The same in the second 23 games will get us to 62 points, five fewer than last season. We need around 47 points to reach the play-offs I reckon, that's two points per game. The management and players have serious work to do. Well I don't think 47 or even 62 points will be enough for a play-off place!
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 You can blame the strikers all you like but we have nothing in the middle of the field. Nothing. Go back to the days of Izzet and Lennon and service from the wings, that is a midfield. There is nothing behind the front 2.
Kitchandro Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 You can blame the strikers all you like but we have nothing in the middle of the field. Nothing. Go back to the days of Izzet and Lennon and service from the wings, that is a midfield. There is nothing behind the front 2. The blame lies with more than one area. The midfield being poor is not the reason for Beckford not being able to control it or pass it 3 yards or shoot.
Callabinho Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 No. Stop changing the subject, this isn't about Howard or Nugent, this is about Beckford. Nugent's all round game is 10 times better than Beckford's though. Different players, Nugent has always been known for his industrial style of play, Beckford is more of a opportunist, we need to utilize his pace, which we don't...You don't score the amount of goals he did for Leeds by being shit. Once we improve that midfield and find someone who can constantly provide those killer passes or crosses regularly into the area he will score more goals.
EnderbyFox Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 No, he was better than a lot of them, not outstanding, first half he was poor in fact. Are you sure you weren't watching Wellens? I was watching Abe very closely during the first half and he made atleast 3 or 4 vital interceptions.
Father Ted Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 There we have it, Bamba not good enough at centre-back as I've been saying for a very long time. Stick him in the centre of the park.
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 No he really isn't, he had a good game today, and being stuck out on the wing for most of the second half what more could he do? imagine Howard on the wing? Imagine Howard starting every week? I say again... How can our best paid player, supposedly 'top striker' have 'had a good game' when he didn't even have a shot at goal? Or get anywhere near anything in the box or have remotely like a scoring chance? Have your expectations actually become so low now that you can consitute this as him having ' a good game'... Are you really that easily pleased for a player that is probably Citys best ever paid permanent signing? I'm not... I think we are currently shite and that if we persist in playing this front two together we are going nowhere.. Absolutely nowhere. I cannot recollect the two strikers passing to each other in a build up... They are miles apart...
ithuriel Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Well just got back, first half was very poor though we came back well enough in the second but was is blindingly obvious is that we need some new player's, some of the crosses put across the face of goal today needed only a touch but no one was gambling on being there to attack the ball. There was still poor communication at time's between player's too. Anyone who still think's that the squad Sven built is good enough is deluded and need's to get over the fact that he was sacked. Pearson has a lot of work to do getting in the right player's and shipping out player's that either do not fit in here or who are'nt upto the task come January.
