Ipswich Post Match: 1-1

No we haven't. Tbh, I don't think we are good enough to win back to back games for the rest of the season!

Well I don't think 47 or even 62 points will be enough for a play-off place!

wait, so 78 points won't make the play-offs then?

Now then, utter crap. Mills is a decent enough defender but is still really struggling living up to the price tag, Wellens needs to be dropped now, he still slows things down too much and doesn't create at all. Beckford - I've backed him for a while but I have had enough - no movement, terrible touch and no desire to get on the end of anything.

Positives are quite short but Gallagher and Yuki both had good games, Bamba made a few errors but quickly atoned for them (chasing in that 50/50 and winning it after a crap touch in the second half), although when he seems the most attack minded player on the pitch for us, it's bad news - He's been good at CB but I'd like to stick him in CM and see how that would work out. Schmeichel - good penalty save, did his job well and looked urgent when he had the ball, tried to force us forwards more.

Edit:

And one thing I forgot - what on earth was going on for their goal - someone has to take control and go to the ball, not just all stand around waiting for someone else.

Are you sure you weren't watching Wellens? lol

I was watching Abe very closely during the first half and he made atleast 3 or 4 vital interceptions.

You would need a search party to find either centre mid in the first half

We're shit lol

I don't understand why fans think when Howard comes on, he's going to score a fvcking hat-trick.

Oh yeah, and Wellens. Terminate his contract with immediate effect.

I feel sorry for the strikers. they never get the ball, and no one passes it to them properly

The best thing we could do is sell Beckford, Nugent, Schlupp, Peltier and Kasper.

Good players who deserve the chance of a better career elsewhere.

We are a shit club with funeral parlour stadium, a bland management team, owners with more money than sense, crap squad and the worst fans in the football league.

Today I officially gave up. After moving to Cornwall I thought that I would still defend Leicester and their failings till the day I die but in all honesty, after 30 years of supporting the club and endless dissapointment, the club, its players and all its so called fans can kiss my ass.

I never thought the day would come when I couldnt bare to support them anymore but after listening to the game and then reading the shit on here, I dont want to be a part of it anymore.

I QUIT!

Beckford has no service what so ever, our midfield provided nothing for him today. Beckford was often going out to the left wing area to get the ball and when he did receive it he did look dangerous.

Sol Bamba is wasted in centeral defence, he needs to be moved into midfield and play the role Seyi Olofinjana does. Bamba is a cut above some of the players in this division.

PS: Ipswich are no mugs, they have a good squad(on paper) however we all know its not that simple. Back to the drawing board it is.

This team needs to take a good look at themselves after the last four results, there are slight problems at centre back the defending from crosses today especially Bamba and Mills were terrible, but they both made up by good blocks and Bamba's mazy runs. However the midfield is absolutely crap, Yuki comes out with some credit from this match because he played very well, but Wellens is so negative and King played a whole 45 minutes and yet again did absolutely nothing. The wingers are terrible, Gallagher plays like a fairy and Dyer's end product lacks quality.

We need players who domand their area, and midfielders who shoot from outside the box, and better, faster and younger wingers.

If we keep going back to the hoof ball shit, Mills has been doing and getting dominated in midfield then i'm afraid to say the days of lowly 17th-18th place finishes will return.

Clear out is needed Pearson!!!

Cheerio then if that is the attitude you have.

If you despise the club and everything associated with it that much these day's it is best you move on.

Different players, Nugent has always been known for his industrial style of play, Beckford is more of a opportunist, we need to utilize his pace, which we don't...You don't score the amount of goals he did for Leeds by being shit. Once we improve that midfield and find someone who can constantly provide those killer passes or crosses regularly into the area he will score more goals.

Different as in Nugent is better. Messi is a different player to Junior Lewis. 'Opportunist' is another word for someone doing bugger all most of the time. This is not the kind of striker who is successful in the championship. It's not as if he hasn't missed chances anyway, he's missed plenty.

I said this about Yakubu, the Championship is not forgiving to lazy strikers who don't contribute to making chances as well as scoring them. Beckford is being found out as a poor footballer. He does have assets but he's been nothing short of laughable for us so far, whether you're judging him on finishing, movement, first touch, work rate, etc.

He played for Leeds in League 1, so no point bringing that up.

No creativity. No one good enough to go past a player, serious investment in midfield needed!

I also don't think we can judge the strikers after that performance, no balls into feet what so ever and that's what they thrive on. Ok more effort needed but midfield is the serious problem.

With that attitude we don't need fans like you.

The players should be grateful to play for us, it is them letting us down, not the other way around.

My club is more important than their careers, if they don't like sod them.

Utter joke, complete shambles, the year that promised so much has delivered the sum of **** all - granted i wasn't there today, but from the TV coverage you could see enough to know what was going on. No idea what to do when in possession, and no clue in front of goal. Another completely abject team selection, performance, and use of substitutes from our so-called saviour. I was delighted he came back, but so far he's done nothing other than employ defensive tactics and make poor substitutions, clinging onto players who did OK for him 2 years ago. There may be less passes deep in midfield, but the end product is exactly the same - nobody wanting to take responsibility in the final third.

Play offs still possible?. Pearson talking about needing to 'tweak' things. Don't make me laugh. We're a ****ing embarrasment and with Forest in the cup, Palace, Southampton and Middlesborough to come it's going to get a lot worse before it gets any better,

Sick to ****ing death with this bastard club. **** it.

Abe had a great game today, he misplaced couple of passes, but I lost count on the amount of times he made vital interceptions and being at the right places, worked his socks off and won 100 more headers than gallagher. Klitchandro never liked Yuki, never seen u praise him before

Mediocre not f**king good enough but what I expected when we have that useless midfield. the next couple of games are write offs imo, when we get the new blood I will judge the team then,

What a load of rubbish.

You know it's bad when you need a lucky penalty to grab a point at home to an average Ipswich side...

Beckford: today was the final straw. Yes he might be a 'goalscorer' but if he doesn't put a hell of a lot more effort in, and actually work for his goals, then he's a waste of space. I remember Micky Adams once saying that Dickov wasn't the best finisher he had worked with but he worked so hard that made chances for himself through his sheer hard work. What redeeming features does this guy have? Because I can see none. Touch? No. Work rate? No. Passing? No. Positional awareness? No.

For me, that was a wasted 80 minutes that Schlupp could have had on the pitch as part of his education. And he would have offered ten fold more whilst there.

Wellens, good player once upon a time but it's like watching your dog declining with age. It can't do what it used to do. Essentially he has the same ability on the ball but his sharpness is going, he's so slow to move it on that by the time he has done the opportunity has gone. I think Pearson's trying to play it very safe through to the window until he can bring his own players in and he's sticking with Wellens cos he knows him. But surely he'll see that he's not what he once was. I think it might have been a reluctant dropping of King today to keep Wellens in the side. Poor decision for me, as it was not to take Wellens off for King at half time when it wasn't working.

Schmeichel, Konchesky and Peltier all did fairly well as usual. For all the money we've spent this summer the only value we've got is with those three.

Those calling for Bamba in midfield need to cut it out. The guy's our best defender, has been our top performer this year, and he can break forward as he does when the space is in front of him and because the opposition don't expect him to do what he does. If it ain't broke then don't fix it and Sol at the back, with the way he's performed this year, certainly ain't broke. I can think of ten players and ten positions that would need changing before Bamba at centre back is tinkered with.

Let's hope we can get to January with a win against Pompey and hopefully Steve Walsh has got a list as long as his arm becuase in order to be serious challengers in this division I think we need 5 players minimum; 2 wingers, a centre half, a central midfielder and a striker (target man preferably - Howard's not the answer). I trust Pearson to get it sorted, I just feel sorry that for the moment he's got to try and make it work with what he's got, because it doesn't amount to much. It's so typically Leicester that when we get a bit of investment we cock it up and today was a stark reminder that, having spent so much, we are so far off.

This issue of the front two not knowing where each other is should not just be ignored in favour of laying all the blame at the feet of the midfielders.

There is TOO BIG A GAP between Nugent and Beckford... They are not passing to each other, not reading each others game and look like two isolated forwards..

For me this must be addressed. The success we had with Howard and Fryatt was not because either were particularly good in their own right, but because they could play well together. They knew where each other were and could supply each other.

Our front two are no partnership, no pairing whatsoever.. This is just as big a problem as the lack of supply from midfield...

At some point in the 2nd half one of our players had a shot from just outside the left hand corner of the box. We had various players loitering around the 18 yard area. The shot was crap, but their keeper was equally crap and spilled it about ten yards in front of him. It was a tap in for any blue shirt who had the foresight to simply follow in. But noone did. Their keeper was allowed all the time in the world to dance forward and collect the loose ball under no pressure whatsoever. Summed it all up for me.

I agree entirely with this. To say Beckford has no ability is simply moronic! What use is pumping long balls to Beckford when he needs the ball keeping on the ground either played to feet or fed into the channels to run onto.

The centre midfield is the problem as they need 50 touches to get the ball under control which allows the opposition to regroup and get men behind the ball. This in turn then becomes a vicious cycle as the strikers don't have space to run into and their static movement offers little option to the midfield.

The answer to our problems is a central midfielder who can play a ball first time who has the intelligence and vision to make decisions quickly under pressure. Only then will we start to see what both Beckford and Nugent are capable of.

Man city are doing alright, support them if you want to quit. By the way who did you support when we we're in division 3?

I wish we would take a few more risks and just speed things up with a bit less dicking around when we have the ball. If people would play a ball after 1-2 touches instead of 3-4 then yea they'd lose possession more often with misplaced passes but at least it would open up the possibility of playing a ball into the feet of a man in space before the opposition defense can shift across into a solid bank of 4 men.

This was not the worst performance of the season and Ipswich are a very good side from what I saw today. Another day it could've been different - either way.

Conclusions.

What? They were poor, at best.

First half they looked half decent going forward because they played simple passing football, and we were so shambolic at the back.

Second half they resorted to hoofing absolutely anything they could, which is why they lost two points.

Well said. We're Leicester, its in our DNA unfortunatley.
