Look at some of our recent signings, all have done well at previous clubs yet when they join us they turn into dross. Is it the players or is it the inability of the manager(s) to get them playing to the level they should be at?

Lets look at some others: Mills - Reading didn't rate him. Danns - did well for Palace in their opinion, then again they've finished 4th bottom twice in a row, now he's left, they're doing much better. (not suggesting he's the reason btw) Ball - Beckford - I'm surprised at that one tbf, then again if I think about it he's never been a very good footballer apart from goalscoring, which he's only really fully proved at League 1 level. Johnson - been on the treatment table for what, more than 2 years? And still looks like he should be on it. Fernandes - fair enough, we've not got the best out of him. Schmeichel - Leeds didn't rate him, he's actually overperformed, bargain. The rest have done well really. Who have I missed out? Pearson has a history of getting poor/average players to perform above themselves, I think he'll do that with this lot eventually, but it won't be enough for the play-offs, new blood is needed.

SSL likes it here, but he's got the biggest tournament of his life coming up in the summer and doesn't want to lose his place in the ROI team. I don't blame him either. The saddest thing about this is that he's been our best centre back. (That's not me confirming he's on the TL btw)

Salieri Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 We cannot just keep buying and selling players at such an alarming regularity and wasting millions of pounds just because the manager (and i'm not just referring to NP) cannot get them performing. Equally, we can't just keep chopping and changing managers. In conclusion, **** knows. :xmasunsure:
kingfox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 St Ledger isn't bad to be honest, far better than Mills in some aspects. St Ledger can head a ball very well, and can pass the ball out of defence something that Mills struggles to do. However on the downside a game doesn't go by without St Ledger making a sloppy mistake or an error which leads to a goal, Bristol City and West Ham examples of this. If reports are true I will be slightly disappointed, because he has some very good qualities, but for a team like us it wouldn't be a massive loss.
