Jay Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Err, because the is **** all movement in midfield to offer him the pass. If we've got lazy bastards in midfield that don't offer themselves for a pass then the defence has no choice but to play it long. I notice he did it less on Monday with Abe flitting around and making space to receive a pass - coincidence? exactly it's like the worst kept secret in History our midfield leaves strikers isolated and the defence exposed. Bamba, Mills, Beckford etc etc all problems stem from midfield Abe second half against Ipswich at least made himself available, because before they both had zero options for something to with the ball
Legend_in_blue Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 No problem for me. Put him in central midfield. If you had someone like that, you can get a real creative midfielder in (Koren perhaps) and start to play decent football. We've lacked physical strength in the middle of the pitch since Billy Mckinlay. It's not a problem for you, me, us... Problem is I can't see NP addressing it in this way. Something has got to give somewhere though. I think NP will address the problem by bringing in natural midfield players first, wingers, whatever it takes to bring a more functional midfield unit. As has been mentioned in earlier posts, many of our problems stem from a weak midfield lacking in movement, passion, authority, presence... Call it what you will, fact of the matter is it just isn't good enough in midfield and a complete overhaul of the area is required. Now I don't think NP will look to accomodate the midfield with what he's already got available to him but he'll look to completely overhaul it imo. Whether or not this includes "four days a week" Wellens though remains to be seen...
shade Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Bamba is a god amongst men, men who are too lazy to move into space for a pass.
Jimmy Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 St Ledger has been gash apart from those couple of games with Mills when Bamba got banned and then the game after
Corky Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 St Ledger has to go long often because there are no short options. It's not always the first choice to hoof it.
AyewJoking Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 He wouldnt be complaining if we were top 6. I blame Wellens.
Kitchandro Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 You know Leicester fans are really despairing when people are starting to slate Bamba after the season he's had! Bamba, this season, has been immense. Regularly has the guy been one of our top three performers, which may not say a lot, but he's well in contention for our player of the season alongside Schmeichel, Peltier and Nugent at the moment. Have you not seen some of the things the guy does?! And I'm not just on about his beating of players or running with the ball. The guy has bullied several strikers this season and has more often than not come out on top in battles for the ball. He is the proverbial brick outhouse (another reason why he's not a midfielder - a guy that imposing in the air and strong is a centre half, no questions asked and not to mention his tackling ability) I think some people need to study Sol a little closer: watch and you'll see the amount of times he wins the ball when he really has no right to. The criticism of his flair has been heard before. To me, it's boring. How many goals has Sol dicking around cost us this season? Didn't think so. Here's an alternate view for those who are willing to jump on the back of one of our best players just because he's a little different to your 'if in doubt put it out'/'ave it' defender (one of which we paid £5million for and have seen little to no value from): In football you generally need the ball to score If you can keep possesion you therefore have more chance of scoring If you can keep the ball and beat a man at the same time, thus opening a bit of space, you have a greater chance of scoring a goal with that ball ....everytime Bamba outrageously keeps the ball rather than putting it out of touch, and giving it back to the opposition, is a time where he has kept the ball for the team. I'll happily take the odd mistake here and there for all of the other times Bamba keeps the ball in our possession, and all of the times that he actually takes that ball and drives into the space he sees in front of him. The defensive problem (if indeed such a problem exists - we've conceded 7 goals in 7 games people, in one of which the goals came from a penalty and when we had 10 men) is not Sol Bamba. So Sean St Ledger: hand your transfer request in, I've no complaints about that, it hasn't worked out as planned. But you should be walking away cursing your bad luck and not that you've been hard done to because Sol Bamba's been playing ahead of you. Mr Mills on the other hand..... Spot on I just want to punch Youngy everytime he talks about Bamba, you just know it's going to be negative and he's going to come up with reason why the defensive errors are his fault. Fookin' Bamba All i'm saying is that yes Bamba has looked amazing this season but since he's arrived, nobody has been able to look equally as solid next to him. Are we saying that Hobbs, Bruma, Vitor, Mills and St Ledger are all shit and he's amazing? He is a good player but he's clearly not a centre back. Perhaps I didnt put that across but thats what i'm saying. Apart from Vitor, yeh.
Jimmy Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 funnily enough Ben Mee didn't seem to struggle too much playing alongside him and he is a kid in footballing terms
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 He wouldnt be complaining if we were top 6. I blame Wellens. Naturally . . . . . like everyone else :xmasunsure:
sdb Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 He's decent at this level, and versatile, and Mills is banned most games, so i'd keep him unless he's pushing for a move. Has he been listed? Can't be assed to read all pages.

And why did Mills concede the penalty and red card at Hull? Because he was trying to clear a mess caused by Bamba missing a clearance. It's happened quite a few times this season - remember the Millwall game too, where Bamba gave a penalty away? Bamba is a bombscare. The sooner Tunchev replaces him, the better.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 It's one thing to transfer SSL... Another to get any offers for him.. I would assume he's on a better than average wage for a player at this level (surprise surprise).. And interest could be scarce

Sampson Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 And why did Mills concede the penalty and red card at Hull? Because he was trying to clear a mess caused by Bamba missing a clearance. It's happened quite a few times this season - remember the Millwall game too, where Bamba gave a penalty away? To be fair, exactly the same thing could be said of Mills on Boxing Day. The reason Konchesky gave away the penalty against Ipswich is because Mills charged about 10 yards out of defence to make an extremely weak tackle. Leaving the defence scrambling to cover him at the back.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Perhaps we could play him in midfield in place of that rotten Wellens charcter . . . . . :xmastongue: ... I would be surprised if Count Wellens don't start tomorrow to be honest. One thing's for sure... If he is dropped the bulk of this forum will be tossing themselves off violently and suddenly Pearson will be reified.

fatmando Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 I hope he is on the transfer list. He seems to come across as a possible negative dressing room influence to me. I ve never rated his skill or more importantly his work rate. I could be wrong about him but that's the feeling I get. I don't overally rate Mills ethier tbh. He's cost us alot this season so far in money and more importantly points. I think there are a few workshy, self-overated players in the squad. Our squad and club is in a bit of a mess. Depressing times. Hope it doesn't last.
Soar Fox Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Not too sure about St Ledger having a negative influence in the changing rooms. From what I've seen Paul Gallagher says he has the best banter at the club.

fatmando Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Having the best banter doesn't win us any league points. That stinks of exactly what I'm talking about tbf. Players like him need to stop arsing around and start grafting.
Happy Fox Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 http://www.mirrorfoo...icle847265.html Nigel Pearson has slapped Sean St Ledger on the transfer list after a Boxing Day bust-up. Leicester manager Pearson will offload the Republic of Ireland international following a row before the 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich. St Ledger was dropped from the starting XI in favour of Matt Mills, who had returned from a two-game ban. And the defender, 27, confronted Pearson and demanded to know why he had been left out – with his outburst also coming in front of Foxes vice-chairman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn. Pearson and Raksriaksorn have both decided to take drastic action by telling the £20,000-a-week star to leave the club in January. St Ledger was a £750,000 capture from Preston by former Leicester chief Sven Goran Eriksson, but has made only eight Championship starts. No-nonsense Pearson is determined to stage a mass clear-out in January, with on-loan St Etienne midfielder Gelson Fernandes poised to complete a £2million move to Udinese. Fringe players Bruno Berner and Michael Ball are also in talks to have their contracts cancelled. And there could be other more high-profile casualties, with £2.5m striker Jermaine Beckford facing an uncertain future.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 It's alright were selling St Ledger whos decent in my opinion to clear the way to bring his bum buddy Jack Hobbs back!
DorsetFox9 Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Leicester-Sean-St-Ledger-transfer-listed-after-Boxing-Day-row-with-nigel-Pearson-article847265.html Why the **** do i bother supporting Leicester. Hmm yeah, lets Transfer List a player who is bothered about not playing, who is gutted when hes dropped. its happened a few times now, hes been dropped after putting barely a foot wrong.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 It's alright were selling St Ledger whos decent in my opinion to clear the way to bring his bum buddy Jack Hobbs back! Pearson simply cannot win can he.. IF this story is true he has done absolutely the right thing by MAN MANAGING a disruptive player..you cannot have a player giving you shite in front of the others. That's exactly what I would do.. He must stamp his authority and tell them exactly who the boss is If he didn't do this.. He'd be Sven
