Hantsfox Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Spoke to a Preston fan the other day and he said they would'nt have him back !! He's just an average centre half, CHEERIO !
GianEmmo Zola Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Is this actually true? or made up bs? Ssl is far better cb than bamba. People dont see this tho. Because bamba is good on the eye. A flamboyant player that is good one minute, not in a defensive sense! but can have your heart in your mouth the next minute.! i rate both. I think their is not a poor player in the team. Mills only gets stick because of the price we paid. Forget about that. Dont care if we paid 5p or 5 million. He still our player now. We can afford to throw silly money about. Let the thais do that. Same with beckford. Wow he dosent run around like a headless chicken like nugent! He will score goals when nigel gets in some creative, better midfield players. That can feed him. He makes some cracking runs. That a cracking midfielder would see and pick him out. Back to ssl. Sven signed him before mills signed. Then when we signed mills, he wasnt going to play. Id probably loan him out. He could still be a good player for us. Cant wait to see tunchev back in though! Who to drop though! Over to you nigel.
leicestercity_ Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 A move would be the best thing for the player yes... But he's a decent replacement for Mills and/or Bamba and would leave us a little short at the back if he leaves. Again, he seems a strange signing if he is not willing to be a 'squad' player because it was clear that Sven was generally going to start with the Mills/bamba pairing.. Makes me wonder what promises may have been made to St.Ledger when he signed? If he's adamant about going them let him. Theres no point keeping a player who doesnt want to be here...But we need to make sure we have adequate cover before he leaves.. Didnt st ledger sign before mills? we have never had a setted back 4 since this season started! we cant expect success by keep chopping and changing, its not the answer!
accessory Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 When will people wake up and realise that Sol Bamba is our problem, as much as Wellens. He isn't quite that bad, but it is curious how EVERY partner he's had since he came here have struggled alongside him - from Hobbs and Bruma last season to St Ledger and Mills in this one. As with the fat manc, Bamba's love of showboating can unsettle, perhaps even undermine those around him. He didn't spend years in the backwaters of the SPL without good reason.

I would assume (and, of course its only an assumption) that SSL thought he would be signing for the first team? And the fact that he's not consistently in the first team appears to be his concern re. his international future. Of course, a settled back four is massively important.. but Mills has buggered that up with the Red Cards...

accessory Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I thought Bruma played very well for us. Really? So how come our form collapsed after Sven put him in the side? The Watford game at the end of last season was the only one where I saw him play well.

But then we pay 5 million for mills and sven gives him captain! mills red cards have caused upset in the back 4 but the same time given ssl a chance to play. His international was probably a factor as to why he left pne and wages.
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I thought Bruma played very well for us. simply can't agree with this... the games I saw him at centre-back I thought he was out of his depth
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I thought Bruma played very well for us. Bruma was poor, most people agreed on that. Might be at Chelsea and potentially a good player, but he wasnt with us.
maccfox Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Question? bit late for a topic with 80 pieces of rant but nobody seems to have questioned whether the 1st post is actually true? posted by somebody who only joined yesterday and is there only post. Rather than saying SSL is shit get rid or player x is more shit than SSL get rid shouldn't we question whether SSL IS actually transfer listed?
Thracian Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Oh Lord, not this again. He was in an interview. They asked him about Leicester. He said he wasn't happy that about not playing every week but could understand why he wasn't (because Scen ha a lot of choice, blah blah blah). It was a small part of a larger interview and he gave a perfectly reasonably answer (in my opinion). At the time people started getting furious, it was ridiculous, and now it's still coming back as him trying to "media-talk his way into the team". Anyway, even if he has handed in a transfer request, he's got the opportunity to play at the World Cup next year and will want to get games in before that. I certainly won't begrudge him a move in that situation. QED really, He's using every means he can to get football again before the World Cup. And good luck to him. I'd rather have a centre-back who'll be concentrating on the job he has to do here.

MC Prussian Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 You can't really compare Tunchev with anyone until he actually comes back and plays a few games in the Championship. Tunchev played very well for Crystal Palace this season - just to let you know.
Bert Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Tunchev played very well for Crystal Palace this season - just to let you know. On the basis that you seen him?
Captain... Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 This is the dilemma to me, if you're a centre half playing alongside Bamba, what do you do? Play deep all of the time knowing that you may be needed to potentially cover hime, thus allowing iopposing teams to play higher up the park? Bamba's aerial ability & communication also leaves a lot to be desired, highlighted on boxing day by a) him not going for the ball that lead top their goal and b) him climbing all over Mills and Peltier on various occasions as they went for the same ball. That said, his flair play makes him a crowd pleaser, and his gangly interceptions are excellent. See other midfield thread... I'm sharing the splinters on the fence. What I saw on Boxing Day was Abe dropping back every time Bamba went forwards, which makes sense, covers the gap left by Bamba while he takes the ball forward and actually plays with some purpose and drive, the only player that actually wanted to run at the opposition through the middle, the midfield just passed it around. I am starting to think he would be good in midfield, if it wasn't for the fact that January is coming up, in which case I would prefer us to sign a genuine midfielder who can pick up the ball and drive forwards with it, like I hoped Danns would do. As for the Ipswich goal, it has been stated by more than one person that Schmeichel shouted for the ball so Bamba and Abe held off the attackers to allow him to get it, then he didn't come, this makes sense, and because of the goal Bamba may then have been over enthusiastic in going for the ball later in the game, but I would rather have 2 people going for the ball than none. As for SSL, if we sell him we will need to replace him because of Bamba going to the African nations, and as we are being rumoured to have millions to spend, and we clearly have no idea of real valuations of players (5 million for Mills) we are just going to get ripped off. Makes no sense to let him leave unless he is becoming disruptive, we need to focus on the areas we are lacking in, midfield and wide players. Promise him cup games, and a few starts when Bamba is away, then if he is proved himself to be not good enough let him go out on loan until the end of the season when we have Bamba back, I am not sure how true this story is, but if true this will be an unnecessary distraction for what will be a very important transfer window, also I am pretty sure nobody will want to pay him the wages he is probably on here.
ithuriel Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I thought Bruma played very well for us. Brumma was awful in defence, he looked really good in midfield when Sven tried him there but then Sven stuck him back into defence again where he continued to stink.
Salieri Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Tunchev played very well for Crystal Palace this season - just to let you know. Yes, i'm aware of that, thanks. I meant for us.
ithuriel Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 On the basis that you seen him? Love the fact peeps say Nigel only play's his favourites but the only centre half from his previous reign here remaining Nigel count's as fourth choice behind Sven's signing's. Obviously Nigel does not see him being good enough for the first eleven but as a squad player.
Mack Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I'm obviously in a minority but he was superb at QPR, in fact I was sitting with my QPR supporting mates and they told me he dealt with Taarabt better than anyone in their promotion season. I think he had a nervous couple of games early on and got better as the loan spell progressed. He at Hamburg now and holding down a place, that also points to quality. I would have liked to have seen us sign him over Mills and SSL.
Lambert09 Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Big loss IMO.... we are very lucky to have 4 centre backs of the quality we have, Personally I think its a good thing if Sean is questioning why he got dropped, he never seems to do much wrong. The reality is that he was signed as a back up, everyone could see that apart from him. If I was him I would try and get a move, simply due to the fact his international place is at stake and he wont get a better chance in his career than he will this summer. Another one I think that is likely to come back to haunt us.
leicesterisme Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 In Nige we trust. If SSL has been mouthing off, then he can **** right off. Should have been grateful he was picked up by us and had good money spent on him after he was a big player in Preston's dreadful side last season. His performances so far have not been as good as Mills and big Sol and frankly, I would rather we get Tunch back in the side. Surely it's a good thing that St Ledger is so desperate to get into the starting 11? I certainly want players with that attitude rather than players who will pick up their wages each week without a hint of fuss having not even made the squad.
seenitall Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 I must be wrong here, but our defence is actually quite mean - we have only let 2 more in than Southampton, the difference comes up front where we have scored 17 less - midfield needs sorting so we can see if our two strikers, both of who have prolific records at other clubs can get some goals on the board.
Walshy5 Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 This thread was started by a newbee so its most probablly BS. But if true why not cut our losses and use him as bate to bring back Jack Hobbs.
