Goodbye Joey?

Not sure how i'd feel about that.

I thought Gudjonsson had a shocking season last season, but I don't think he's a bad player. If we got money for him, then i'd be chuffed but giving him away might be pointless.

A rumour that makes sense for a change.  Fine by me, as long as it's one in, one out.

The thing is who will we get in who's any better than him that will be prepared to sit on the bench? Gudjonsson has got one year left on his contract and unless he's on silly money i'd rather keep him than get some two bit SPL player. Having said that, if Levein unearths a young starlet then i'll be more than happy but i'm starting to have my doubts.

I know it's the summer blues, but my god it's frustrating.

Scott Severin is I am sure (all guesswork :D;) ) in CL sights to replace Gudjonsson. :D:D:thumbup:;)

maybe it will mean james wesolowski gets a chance

If that happens i'll be over the moon, but the last time I was over the moon as a result of something Leicester did was a long, long time ago.

Agreed. I'd be loathe to let him go, unless there's someone better on the way in. Still, tomorrow's 1 July 2005, and the contracts are up for lots of players. Who knows what that'll bring?

Sod all, probably.

Get rid, people talkign about potential are hvaing a bubble. He can't pass, tackle, shoot, head, run or just about anything required of a footballer.

I wouldn't be bothered if he left, he didn't impress me much (apart from the very odd game) last season. His passing is awful most of the time (far too ambitious) and his shooting is a joke. He's not strong enough nor does he look comfortable and confident on the ball.

I know that sounds like a moan but I'm sure we get get a replacement for Gudjonsson easily enough.

Never have rated Joey - he has about one good game a season.

He cant pass or tackle, and surely you need to be able to do those things to be a good midfielder. I would pay for his taxi back home.........

I dont agree with you lot. JG does alot of work which obviously goes un-noticed.

Playing just in front of the back four is not a glamourous position and most players who play there never get the recognition they deserve, unless their name is Lennon. Sorry to be argumentative with my first post but I think JG is OK.

To some extent I agree, welcome and don't worry about being argumentative. ;) I will throw in another name Makelele. If Gudjonsson goes then sobeit. CL knows what he is doing and I get the sense he is no fan of JG. :D:D:thumbup:;)

Hi Rich, yes playing just in front of the back four is not a glamourous position and most players who play there do go unnoticed unfortunately Joey isn't one of them and does get noticed because he is fundamentally a poor footballer albeit a hard working one. Sorry to disagree with your first post, everyone will tell you I'm not an argumentative person ;) , but I shall be happy to see him replaced by a better player, hopefully.

We need players like Joey IMO. Hes a good midfielder and does try hard. Some games he does have bad patches and it does get annoying but surely its better to have him in the squad rather than nobody else. At the moment we dont look to be signing anyone special so we have to do the best with what we have.

Totally agree :)

I think the three words that sum up Joey perfectly are: 'Wasteful', 'Inconsistent' and 'Frustrating'

I think he does have the ability, but his footballing brain isn't there. He's too rash and often tries to over do things. If we can get a fee for him, I'd bite their hands off. I imagine he's on good wages as a number of clubs were rumoured to be after him at the time of purchase.

Get rid.

Every player that plays in that role for Leicester will be compared to Lennon. Probably a sign of a set of supporters that are still living off past glories. Joey is not a very good holding midfielder though. He would show up very poorly on the Lennon scale but even just comparing him with other players that play similar roles at other clubs in this division would show him to be an average player. I don't think it's a coincidence that the last successful season we had was the season that we found a player to fill that 'Lennon' role in Billy Mckinlay. If we had got him a few seasons earlier it would've been brilliant, well in fact we did but unfortunately Taylor let him go. Hopefully Kisnorbo can fill that role although he has said he's more like Savage so he could be too rash to just hold.

I still think McKinlay would have performed a brilliant job for us last season if retained. Look at his performances in the Premiership, he played that role superbly in front of the back 4. Another year in the Championship would not have been beyond him at all.

McKinlay >>>>>>> Gudjonsson

Can't believe more hasn't been said about his size. He's a hobbit! what made him decide to be a holding midfield player? having said that keeping him would depend on a possible fee or the size of his wages! he's certainly more worthy of a squad place ahead of someone like Wilcox.
