General Smuts Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 Cos it's clearly still the best league in England. After a year with Leicester in League 1 and now a year with Stevenage it's safe to say it's my favourite league to support a team in. 6-1 win away at Colchester in this shirt and 5-1 at home to Sheffield Wednesday all from the safety off the North Stand terrace. Unbelievable Jeff. The league is mental as well. Never a week without a 4-3, 3-3 or a 4-4. Anyone of the top 5 could win it and theres about 11 teams vying for the 6th place. Plus it has Chris Powell.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 It's a very good league and fantastic for fans. I loved our tour and to be honest i think getting relegated was a blessing in disguise. We lost the fans who were expecting success and replaced them with fans who just wanted to stay with the club make sure we would survive and ultimately support the team at any cost in any league! And the confidence of winning it showed on our first season back up the players felt like they could beat anyone "We were league one champions" and it showed in our performances. Plus i really miss Powell
Fox92 Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 The league seems to be free scoring, and anyone seems to have a chance of winning it. I'd love Huddersfield and Oldham especially to get promoted. There are some young and talented English managers especially in that division, and also, a mate who I went to school with now plays for Sheffield Wednesday which is pretty cool, scored against MK Dons earlier in the season. And also, I live near Ian Bennett who plays in goal for Huddersfield. His son is in my brother's tutor at school.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 The more competitive the league around us are the better i say. It's all part of the master plan where Chelsea Man utd Liverpool and Man city all go bust and we all pounce and they just keep dropping. There have been a bag of talent uncovered in the "lower" leagues and due to the euro not being strong and FIFA clamping down you will see a lot more talent getting un earthed to show there skills on the main stage Rhodes Grant holt Chamberlain Bale etc
Ric Flair Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 08/09 was a magical season, it felt right and we had some sensational players in Davies, Cleverley, Stockdale, Vaughan, Tunchev, Hobbs, King and Fryatt. It's just a shame Gradel never made it with us as we'd have got way over 100 points that season if Maxi was allowed to run riot with abandon. Any Stevenage players worth the blue boys looking at?
Yojoe36 Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 Very well said. It is a very good league. Shame the crappy Premier League gets more attention than the championship and League 1 combined. Let's hope Stevenage get promoted, and beat Sheff Utd in the play-offs.
Lamby Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 Big game at the top Sheff Wed v the mighty goal scoring rip roaring Addicks, another win would mean 8 points clear (or 7 depending on Sheff Utd result tonight) but a loss means a 2 points gap between us and wednesday
Bugg Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 Stevenage vs Leicester soon Why? Are we getting them in the 5th round of the FA Cup?
Narborough_fox Posted 10 January 2012 Posted 10 January 2012 Jordan Rhodes may as well be given top scorer now at the rate he's going at. If it stays this way I can see him hitting 40 as long as he doesn't move on from 'Udders.

If there's a team I don't want to go up, especially automatic, it's Sheffield Wednesday.
Lamby Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 I hope you win. If there's a team I don't want to go up, especially automatic, it's Sheffield Wednesday. So do I. Wednesday are soo up themselves, they think they're "massive" and don't deserve to be in L1, and the fans are also deluded as jugded by the fact they're gonna win every game from now until the end of the season and be champions
Fox in the North Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Stevenage manager Graham Westley has gone to Preston, gutted for Stevenage.
Finnegan Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 So do I. Wednesday are soo up themselves, they think they're "massive" and don't deserve to be in L1, and the fans are also deluded as jugded by the fact they're gonna win every game from now until the end of the season and be champions Compared to you they're pretty big.
AjcW Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Stevenage manager Graham Westley has gone to Preston, gutted for Stevenage. Why oh Why has he done that to himself, surely the lure of taking a club from non league to the championship was enough to keep him away from Peter Ridsdale!! He's had a shocker there, can see him regretting that decision big time! On the topic of league 1, Hereford away, what a day out that was!!

He's had a shocker there, can see him regretting that decision big time! I know. Why leave a setup you're perfectly comfortable in with good squad morale etc and not to mention in a better position in the league? Not mention working for Peter Ridsdale xD
StanSP Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Tempted to go to Charlton vs Sheff Utd. Tickets are only £18. Should I stay or go?
Fox92 Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 That's the second time Graham Westley has left Stevenage I think. But, he has done wonderful at that club.
Corky Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 So do I. Happy Fox Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Both Sheffield clubs will get promoted imo, alongside Charlton.

Happy Fox Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 I hope Huddersfield can get promoted this year. Don't think they will but next season alongside Preston in the automatic promotion slots.
