GLC Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I'm sick of hearing the term 'Part time supporters'. Not everyone can make the trip down to southampton on a monday night and some people probably can't make it to the away games! but does that make people part time supporters? Take the forest game on saturday.... Many of the fans that went probably don't have the money for a season ticket or the money to buy away tickets every week, but that doesn't mean they don't love the club any less! But at least they came out and made some noise! How about we drop the term part time supporter and see we all love the same club! no matter how many games we go to!
GianEmmo Zola Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Spot on! My thoughts exactly. Dosent matter if you go to 10 games or 35 ! You still support leicester city! My uncle lives in oz now. He absolutly loves leicester! He a part time fan? Because he dosent travel all the way round the world to watch the games? Haha.
James. Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Believe it or not I sometimes do things on a Saturday afternoon that are BETTER AND MORE FUN than a Leicester City match. PAP (Plastic And Proud)
jonlcfc1990 Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I guess it's the fact that "moaners" get banded in with the "part time supporters" we all know leicester supporters who can't go to every game this doesn't make them any less of a fan than the rest of us. People usually use the term to describe people who will only come to Leicester VS Real madrid and then sit and wait until we are in the prem. Or people go to home games and from first to last whistle just moan moan moan moan "oh he's shit" "thats a shit ball" "sit down" But the only way the club can make the real money is to entice these supporters to come regularly or to spend big when they come because thats where they make it. Believe it or not I sometimes do things on a Saturday afternoon that are BETTER AND MORE FUN than a Leicester City match. PAP (Plastic And Proud) Better maybe but more fun? NEVER!
1964FOX Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I go to every game home and away but have friends who go to only a handful of games a year who I considered just as much a fan as me. Attendance at games is not a crieria unless they only attend games to watch other teams.

PAP (Plastic And Proud) This, those people that literally just have football in their life are the saddest people you'll ever meet.
Christoph Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 This, those people that literally just have football in their life are the saddest people you'll ever meet. Agreed. Everybody loves to watch a game of football, and we all love the drama of it but some people take the game way to seriously. I mean when you look at football hooligans and stuff. Quite possibly the saddest past time ever.
FrankieADZ Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 well said, I'd rather have a part time supporter going through thick & thin forever supporting the City than a Glory supporter.
1964FOX Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 This, those people that literally just have football in their life are the saddest people you'll ever meet. How very dare you.
dave the caveman Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Away days are still fun but I rarely go to home matches now. It's not just Leicester, but most places - clubs use loud music and other crap gimmicks to prevent fans from building their own atmosphere which increasingly could lead to fines. Understandable from the clubs point of view, but they should also understand that people aren't going to be pay massive prices for a watered down 'football experience' forever. Frankly I'm suprised so many people still bother going to home matches. I prefer going to the supermarket on a Saturday afternoon - cheaper, better music and less screaming kids.
CountesthorpeFox Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Two sides to this really. I mean I accept all of the above and as someone pointed out you have to divide the part supporters among the glory supporters. For example, when I went to university, in Manchester, people who had come over from Singapore and supported Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea/United etc would give it the big one all of the time like they were the most hardcore dedicated fan. Some guys who came over as Liverpool fans for example never made it to Anfield in 3 or 4 years of being here and Liverpool is not far from Manchester, as im sure you know, and it definitley wasnt the fact they couldnt afford it. Just that they would rather watch on TV. Whilst they bantered amongst each other I always felt I got a bit of respect to be fair as I had a season ticket and was travelling back home one every other week to watch, at one stage, third tier football. It would make me mad though when I'd ask them about Hobbs, or Cleverley for example and they would say "who?". I just found this ignorant and any true fan of the club would know about future prospects such as these. I respect that people have their reasons for not attending and this does not affect their "love" of the club. I do feel however that someone who travels around the country supporting the team is deserving of respect and rewards from the club, as to be fair, in many cases they are. (first choice on tickets etc). I agree that someone who has solely football in their life could be considered as dull, but I honestly wouldnt rather be doing anything else on a Saturday afternoon. Call me what you like. As I said, its important to differentiate between the glory/part time supporter. The former will never appreciate the true feeling of being back in the prem (I hope) as they never endured the terrible lows we all have. The latter will do. thats the difference.
Corky Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I wouldn't let it bother you. It doesn't bother me, and if it did it would only last certain times of the day on certain days of the week, like a true part-timer.
GLC Posted 11 January 2012 Author Posted 11 January 2012 BTW, i do have a seasom ticket and i also go to 5+ away games a season
Jace Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I've been to 1 game this season.... Too busy on Foxestalk to watch Leicester play
Captain... Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I've been to 1 game this season.... Too busy on Foxestalk to watch Leicester play Blimey even I've been to more games than you this season, I'm down to about 4-5 games a season at the moment, but I watch every game I can via live streaming. I joined Foxestalk a few years ago to try and kep track of what was happening, because after Levein - Holloway and moving to Spain I was really losing interest in the club. Everyone gets something different out of football whether it is the match day passion, I bet there were season ticket holders who had no idea who Kennedy and Moore were against Palace, then there are those that want ot get closer to the club feel more of a part of it and know everything about it and they may not go to every match but they are still valid fans. There are those who have been around for years and seen it all before and those that have only started supporting City this season. I dislike football snobbery, but when having opinions on a match those that were there have a better idea of what happened than those that weren't, and this sort of snobbery raises it's head when people state things as fact based on what they heard on the radio or read in the mercury. Personally I would love to go to every game, but practically and financially it is impossible, I will be watching the Forest replay on some dodgy stream, but I will respect that those who were there opinions carry more weight than mine when discussing the match afterwards. I would also be wary of slating foreign fans picking up English clubs there could be a new generation of Thai kids following Leicester soon.
FoxesRoyal Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I'll be honest I've been to every home match this season but only 1 away! I would go to every away match its just the matter of affording it! I wouldn't call me a part time supporter as my life consists of Leicester City!

The former will never appreciate the true feeling of being back in the prem (I hope) as they never endured the terrible lows we all have. The latter will do. thats the difference. I think using foreign students to make your point makes about glory supporters is an intresting one.. People who have been on Foxes talk for years have been called Glory supporters for only making it to the big games and i would doubt many people actually know the reason they can not make as many as they would like.. For several years i made every game home and away and loved it to,,, there was a group of us who would do it. There was absolute shock and silence in the pub after one game when one of our group announced he was getting married. Even more shocking was the news that he wasnt going to go to many away games any more as the compromise with his wife was that he was going to go to the home games but stay home for the away games. Apparently she wanted to do this thing called ' spending time' with her husband. Well we felt like our left leg was missing on those first couple of away games but it just made it even more special when the group was together.. the games became more enjoyable. He did a couple of big away games but not many at all. Then came the biggest shock of all. a BABY was on its way... nothing changed at first but then he needed to help ' get things ready' and once the baby was here he spent even less time at the games.. he apparently had to 'prioritize' his money and stupid stuff like that. We saw him at a couple of the really big games but does that make him a glory hunter as he wasnt able to get to most others. After one game where we were talking about how we missed him it finally dawned on us... He had gone and gotten himself a life. He married young but we are now all at that stage he is and in fact i am also facing the complication of living in the US doesn't mean any of us love City less we have just grown up and realized there is more to life than beer and football. I ( obviously) dont go to many games these days. but when i am able to get to one you know what? I don't care what the score is going to be... and how much we lose by its going to be the best game ever as i will be there wearing the badge and supporting my team.

m00nie Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 in my teens and 20s was constantly following them home and away, nearly 40 now and go to a lot less games.. one of my daughters got a ST so she goes more than me now.. im a PAP
Hollism Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I go to college 5 days a week and work almost every Friday, Saturday and Sunday so games aren't always easiest for me to get to. I'm targeting every weeknight game though- home and away- and I booked the day off to get to Forest away. My Gran on the other hand, who is 77, listens to every single game on Radio Leicester and watches whenever we're on TV. She's the first to text me if a Leicester-related story pops up on SSN. She hasn't been to a game for 15 years though and didn't even go that regularly when she was younger. Does that make her less of a fan than me? I go to more games than her and probably know more about the current squad, but of course it doesn't. Unlike some of you though, I do believe plastic fans exist. It is difficult to define them though. "People who don't care for the club as much as they want others to think they do" comes close, to me at least.

No that makes her a Ledge my grans the same i have to buy her a programme every home and away i go to she reads it through the week between games and listens to the commentary on RL and Iplayer
foxoffderby Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I don't think it matters if your a plastic fan as long as you support your LOCAL team. Its much better and has greater kudos than being a glory seeker (manc and scouse) wannabe. Just for the record I'm a season ticket holder and have frequent flyer points to about half a dozen away games a season. I can make it living in Derby but even them don't go to every home game. Soon to be moving to Coalville and hope to get to more games.
Libertine Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 You're darn right, OP. But even if someone does 'love the club less', who gives a f--k? It's some guys kicking a ball, Christ.
