Jace Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Just wondering everyone's opinion on this I am myself a fan of Pearson and was happy with his appointment but with the whole situation at QPR this week really got me wondering more about wherever Hughes would of been a better appointment to bring in new players? I have always respected Warnock as a manager and thought he was doing a good job at QPR but despite this it has been made clear that Hughes is the way forward for them if they want to bring in new players to progress which appears to be where we are struggling this transfer window. We know Hughes was in talks with the Raksriaksorns and was seen on numerous occasions around Leicester in the couple of weeks after Sven yet many of felt he may of been challenged with Championship football and not as knowledgeable as Pearson. At the time of the appointment Pearson was without a doubt my 1st choice over Hughes but as I thought both managers with funds would be able to bring in many players and maybe more Pearson the right players at this level. I know it is still early in the transfer window but it is beginning to appear that Nigel other than Sharp and Stewart who look unlikely to move may not have any other targets and Hughes is clearly considered by QPR as someone who would be able to do this for them. With Hughes name and reputation would he of had the contacts to maybe bring in some decent quality players to give us that push we need? This isnt meant to come across as a criticism of Pearson because I'm sure if given plenty of time he will be able to build a good side and we will progress and develop under him but if Hughes had been appointed would we be bringing in players now or are QPR gambling bringing him in? Is he like Sven more suited to the Premiership than the Championship or has we missed out on a potentially good manager who would be bringing in the talent we need right now?
m00nie Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 how are we struggling to bring in players?? are you aware of some thing were not?? do you know if mark hughes turned us down ? or did we chose np instead?? we have NP here now, dont really see the point in dwelling over what may have been
Libertine Dream Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 He did mention that he had offers which he felt weren't suitbable. Probably us.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 We should have made more of an effort to get O'Neill. Not that I'd have thought he would come anyway. I'm still happy with Nigel.

First off I don't do the go back thing Nothing against NP. But I would rather remember what he did for us than remember him getting the sack nxt xmas.(if that happened) As for getting players in this window is never easy. We gave it billy big bollox in the summer and are no where now. Not sure any manager could get the sort of players in we are looking for. Think we should right off this season and give NP the summer to sort it out.

I don't think I am dwelling on it I did make it very clear I am happy with Pearson as our manager but this is a forum about Leicester City which is here to discuss our thoughts which was my only intention
Captain... Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I would have peferred Hughes, I like NP but I think Hughes would have brought something new to the club, NP is tried and trusted but not exactly awe inspiring. If Hughes did turn us down, and that was what I understood at the time, and NP had barely been in the frame at that point, then there is nothing else to do but blame Wellens. I heard Wellens slept with Hughes' cat, that is why he turned us down.

cc_star Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Wat? We did go in for him didn't we... that was the talk of the all the normal trusted sources & he must have decided not to join us, just like MoN did Struggling to bring in players... what a fvcking joke, we've got the bid accepted for a our number one target, spoke to him & he'll make a decision soon, just because all our deals aren't negotiated in front of the press it doesn't mean nothing is happening or anyone is struggling FFS

Think you are taking this out of context abit Sir Alex Ferguson is not struggling to sign Cameron Stewart and Billy Sharp we are
m00nie Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Think you are taking this out of context abit Sir Alex Ferguson is not struggling to sign Cameron Stewart and Billy Sharp we are ohh didnt know you worked for leicester.. sorry..

I don't think money would of been an issue either if the Raksriaksorns were to of made Hughes their first choice
Jace Posted 11 January 2012 Author Posted 11 January 2012 ohh didnt know you worked for leicester.. sorry.. I know we haven't signed Stewart because Hull have been public about rejecting our offers?
m00nie Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 I know we haven't signed Stewart because Hull have been public about rejecting our offers? which they dont deem enough for him... hardly means were now struggling to sign players
oadby_fox723 Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 just because all our deals aren't negotiated in front of the press it doesn't mean nothing is happening or anyone is struggling FFS This. I'd rather we didn't get as much press attention and then just confirm it officially when something happens - signed and sealed.
SMX11 Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 Mark Hughes and Martin O'Neill wouldn't have come here. Nigel Pearson's king
Fox92 Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 No. I am happy with Nigel, but people seem to forget he is currently working with Sven's inbalanced squad.
yorkie1999 Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 no way in a million years, never done anything as a manager, he'll get a shed load of money at qpr and fail bigtime...
Schlupp Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 He's too good for us,One of the many reasons he didn't apply for the job.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 To be honest Jace it's all academic.. We got Pearson we have to hope it pays off. For the record I think Hughes may well do a decent job at QPR...

For the record I think Hughes may well do a decent job at QPR... Yeah I hope so too, tbh I never rated Hughes much before and was concerned when I heard he was having discussions with the club but watching today on SSN QPR have made it clear they feel he is a step above Warnock and will be able to bring in some big names. I think Pearsons got it alot tougher than Sven right now the clubs rep has taken abit of a knock with the Sven saga and I just wouldn't be surprised if many Championship players see us as a sideways step. Its coming across as Premiership players and Championship players are not interested in us right now so were does Nigel look to develop the team. At least Hughes potentially may of had more pulling power when it came to Premiership players maybe if he had been appointed I wonder?

Billy sharp whos had a COUPLE OF DAYS to think about the move, after all his personaly stuff hes had recently thats fk all, even then for all we know the agent n club have still been communicating cameron stewart whos bid has been said to be under his clubs valuation, which isnt the player turning us down.. theres 2/3 weeks left yet of the transfer window..

Well this season when there has been Premiership/SPL targets it has been speculated that they do not want to step down to Championship level and decent Championship players have not been interested as we not pushing for promotion. Off the top of my head Yakubu, Nikica Jelavic, Andros Townsend and Nicky Maynard. Do you really think its easy for the club to bring in premiership/top championship standard players when most of these players are already playing at clubs currently above us?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 January 2012 Posted 11 January 2012 We should have stolen a consignment of Gold and got Martin O'Neill at all costs, however we need to get behind NP now he is here
