Don't worry, I think Thrac would e disappointed if he didn't have an opportunity to reply :D

King's needed a break for ages. Shame it's been forced, but i'm sure he'll come back and the goals will return.

Again, it was only Forest.

Start talking if we do the same to Southampton without him, because quite frankly I expect the fourth round against League Two Swindon to be a sterner test than that was tonight.

Strange how the midfield worked so well !

He's not been my blue-eyed boy this season by a long way and tonight's result is more than welcome. But we should have beaten them by three or four with Kingy playing in the away game so, before you carp too loudly, we'll see how they go in the next few league games.

Kingy didn't start against Peterborough either and, what with the missed penalty, we might have been two down in the first five minutes. Tonight we scored the four goals we should have scored at the City ground and Beckford produced his second or third effective game since his arrival which I suppose was inevitable some time.

I think I've said three times now that King should leave - for his sake as well as ours. Whatever he was doing to score those goals in previous seasons has disappeared and for whatever reason he's just not been the same player this season. I'm just not convinced Wellens, Abe or Danns are any better but Danns has hardly played in his proper position so it's not surprising he's underperformed.

Anyway we'll see what happens in the next four games - when what I imagine was the rollicking of a lifetime has worn off. My hope is ignited not by anyone's absence but by the four goals because this is the kind of performance we should be aiming for consistently.

But it is one thing to create chances and play with abandon in a decided-on-the-night cuptie against woeful opposition who have more important priorities and quite another to shed our inhibitions in League matches against the likes of Southampton, Middlesbrough and Cardiff. But its what I've wanted for long enough and if we do it with or without Kingy I couldn't give a toss.

He can have no complaints about being left out for whatever reason and has never seemed at full throttle since a) He was linked with Everton, b) He lost the captaincy and c) He got his 4-wheel drive.

I don't pretend to know why but for some players there just comes the time to move on and recharge the batteries.

It could even be he's reached his peak. He's not coped well since teams have been more aware of his goal threat and that's been a disappointment. Instead of more movement and more drive, there's been less and most of it at one pace.

He's been deployed as a mostly defensive midfielder in recent times - or it's seemed so - but that's negated any goals potential so that leaves just his passing and we've all seen that the passing has diminished and most of it is safety first now.

So no, having said it was time for him to leave, don't expect me to lament his going if it happens because I won't. He would need to do far more to justify his place than has been the case throughout this season if we are going to be successful.

I just think its a pity that either he's not worked hard enough on improving his weaknesses, he's not been helped and encouraged sufficiently or he's reached the limit of his capabilities. Whether he stays here or not he'll have to raise his game, that's for sure.

He can have no complaints about being dropped and has never seemed fully committed since a) He was linked with Everton, b) He lost the captaincy and c) He got his 4-wheel drive.

I just think its a pity he's not worked as improving from the promising start he made.

It gives me no real pleasure to "carp" as you put it Thracian,in fact i agree with your opinion of Andy .

I appreciate his past contribution as much as any true fan ....but i have felt that his form this season has dropped alarmingly, which has resulted in his inability to influence games to any telling degree.

I know it was just one game tonight against a very poor Forest outfit.....but the football played ,actually on the floor and through midfield was a delight to watch .Lets hope it continues........

as Webbo said, what a nasty and pointless thread about a player whose suffered a bad injury which could rule him out for the rest of the season.

From what I heard tonight, King suffered the injury in training but it was thought it would be ok, so he played against Barnsley. Sadly, thew injury really flared up from this and now he faces a spell on the sidelines when our paperthin squad needs him

achillies and 12 weeks according to someone on here ealrlier.. not heard anything official still though

That would explain a lot of things. Achilles tendon injuries tend to come on gradually. My oldest son snapped his a month ago playing squash and he'd felt discomfort for a while.

King has played virtually non-stop for several seasons, plus his internationals and training sessions. If the tendon was struggling that would explain the one-paced running and inability to step up a gear or make telling breks into danger areas, especially as these problems have been apparent for a while now.

Even on here people have asked if there's something wrong, they even wondered if he was ill.

Well a prospective Achilles injury would explain it.

My son's anticipating six months before he's fully recovered and one of the remaining concerns is whether the other tendon becomes endangered once the damaged one is mended. Apparently the joy of having a fully sprung tendon again can make you put too much pressure on the one that was not damaged, remembering that they'll both have had the same miles on the clock.

Just to add that reference elsewhere to King having an Achilles tendon injury would explain a lot of things. Achilles tendon injuries tend to come on gradually. My oldest son snapped his a month ago playing at a county squash weekend and admitted he'd felt discomfort for a while.

We have also been relying on "blue eyed boy" to score all our goals for the past few seasons, get off his back.

I will so long as he gets off his arse and stops going missing for 90% of the games.

And Thracian that Achilles excuse seems a bit lame.

You've clearly never had an Achilles injury.

Because I think we will benefit as a team without King in it. (Tonight is an example). I don't want King to leave but now at least he won't be played every game regardless of his shit form.

Maybe the bloke actually put his club before his career and soldiered on when he shouldn't. It's been obvious to many people that something's seemed wrong for a while.

You've clearly never had a sense of humour.

Sorry my fault - late night!

It's ok just glad you saw it as a joke !

According to Geoff Peters (Talksport journo/sometime Walkabout DJ) there is a serious rumour Andy King has been injured and is out for the season???

Geoff reads this forum that's probably where he got it from.

Do not see Geoff Peters reporting a forum rumour. Is peters not a fan anyway?? One of em on TS is.

Yes, that Geoff Peters bloke on Talksport is indeed a Leicester City fan and, no, he didn't get the rumour from here.
