foxfanazer Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 I play 5 a side football at freemens common on a Sunday and yesterday to my surprise lee tomlin was there...playing! Now I'm not completely sure, but I reckon he probably isn't allowed to do that by his club? He looked awful by the way! Poor touch, no pace, barassing stepovers and he could definitely do with losing a few pounds, he was blowing out of his arse after 10 mins
foxfanazer Posted 23 January 2012 Author Posted 23 January 2012 But played well against us a few weeks ago I know! Shocking!
Fox92 Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Can I just ask, why is that unprpofessional? Peterborough may not have wanted him to do it, but at least he took part in a local(?) five a side match. Seems fine to me, and probably Posh, if he didn't try his very best and end up injured.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 So your trying to tell me when he's playing a 5 a side he's knackered but when he plays against us he has a great game? Brilliant

Because its so easy to get an injury so wouldn't have thought they'd let him take the risk. It's like yts players not being allowed to play for their schools

Corky Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Dear me, I hate these footballers who make themsleves accessible to the public.
foxfanazer Posted 23 January 2012 Author Posted 23 January 2012 Dear me, I hate these footballers who make themsleves accessible to the public. that's not the point I'm making but oh well
Bert Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 I think the point was that if he were to get injured and Peterborough found out that he got injured playing 5 a side, Peterborough would be very pissed off, and rightly so. After all, they're the ones that pay his wages. There's ways going to be someone that wants to stick one of the pro footballer.
Corky Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 that's not the point I'm making but oh well Sorry, misread what you wrote. If, as Bert says, he got injured it could be deemed unprofessional.

Oh yeah u could tell there were a few sticking in some tasty challenges on him. Most people have commented that it's fine though so obviously not a big deal. Would certainly be pissed off if it was beckford and he got injured

Finnegan Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 I agree and moreover I imagine the clubs insurers would too.
Samilktray Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 A few Leicester players used to play down Goals a few years back every now & again.
Soar Fox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Was he playing with a group of friends or was he playing against people who he didn't know?

foxfanazer Posted 25 January 2012 Author Posted 25 January 2012 Now he's been banned from twitter by Darren ferguson. Poor mans Joey Barton

Collymore Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 The preseason after Newcastle got promoted to the Premier League, Andy Carroll played week after week on the 5 aside pitch next to me with his chav friends! It seemed none of them were allowed to (or dared) to tackle him and you wouldn't have known he was anything special from watching him. Surprisingly he drew very little attention - Whether Newcastle knew or would allow him to go I don't know.. He'd brashly drive his huge Bentley into the tight car park and i had to go through my passenger door once to get in my car! Ironically he went on to have the season of his life!
tylesta Posted 28 January 2012 Posted 28 January 2012 i remember watching somethig on sky sports, bolton was on it and they attended a judo class. they could not participate due to if they got injured there insurance wouldn't pay out. think most players have insurance against injury, so if tomlin plays 5 a side and breaks his leg his insurance wouldn't pay him up.
