Swindon FA cup prematch waffle

Gah, was determined not to spend the money but fear temptation might be getting the better of me. 7am train from Manc, spend time with the family, have a few beers, go to the match, have a few more beers, have dinner with the family, then get the 9.30pm train back to Manc arriving in after midnight.

Or just stay in Manchester, save the money, and listen on the radio?

Dilemmas, dilemmas...

Hi guys. Swindon fans here.

Firstly, I must say I thought you were very impressive against the Saints last night, well done on a great 3 points!!

Looks like you are coming into a bit of form under Pearson, and I was interested to see his post match interview where he said the hardest working teams always win. At Swindon, PDC has a similar mantra and likes to play football on the floor, so I am hopeful of a good game with a good atmosphere.

Quick question, obviously we beat you in the play off in 93 with a 'soft' penalty, but I don't really understand the posts about revenge? Surely the years after that game, Leicester City enjoyed a much better time than we did, You guys have been in the Prem/Championship, cup finals etc since then whilst we have plummeted down to be messing around in leagues 1 and 2.

Anyhow, I have nothing against Leicester, I used to have a soft spot for them in the Prem under Martin O'Neill, and I am really looking forward to Saturday. For me, a new City and a new stadium.

All the best.

FR

I was not meaning anything malicious by "revenge", it was just football talk I guess. We went up the following year anyway by somehow ripping off the Sheep n 1994, only to "do a Swindon" (a well worn cliche at the time you may recall ;)!) as soon as we went up. Back in the early/mid 90s whatever went up by the play offs usually came straight back down - and so we did in 1994/95 after an eventful one season in the Premiership at the time. Obviously we bucked that trend in our next play off final in 1996 under O'Neill and then enjoyed five majestic years in the Prem. thereafter under him - and one half decent season with Peter Taylor - before it all fell apart the following season and he was sacked early doors....so I get your point regarding we've had better fortunes than you in the ensuing years since 1993. Anyway let's hope we see a spectacle this weekend.....'Nigel Pearson's King"!

Also Aylestone Leisure Centre car park along Saffron Lane is generally easy to park in with no restrictions as far as I know - free parking there, you just continue along Saffron Lane in the same way as it's only about two minutes' walk down the road from the paying car parks mentioned above. I often park there at AYC, do a session there then go onto the game! Obviously a quick get away applies there too. :)

Unless I'm missing a very obvious joke, 62 is the time he scored, not his age :dunno:

I think he was...ahh nevermind.

Hopefully the players aren't as confident as some of us are on here.

The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the F&C Thames River Performance of the Week Award should go to Leicester City following their excellent 2-0 away win against Southampton in the npower Championship on Monday 23rd January 2012.

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to be screened on Sky Soccer Saturday on 28th January 2012.

The Foxes earned their first F&C Thames River Performance of the Week Award of the season after a fine display at St Mary’s.

Goals from David Nugent and Matt Mills gave the visitors victory and resulted in Leicester completing a double over the south coast side, following their 3-2 home success in August.

Congratulations to the team and NP keep up the good work :scarf:
