Swindon FA cup prematch waffle

Yea surely it's better to fill the bench with youth than have empty spots like the forest game . Even if NP as no intention of using them atleast they get the matchday experience.

Are you the really large fella with the drum that I have read about on forums?

This is going to be a right battle with the squad we've got. I'd fill it with animals and just clatter Swindon so that Di Canio get's revved up, loses his head and we should then sneak a scrappy win.

This was always going to be a tough game, even moreso when you look at those unavailable. Struggling to think of an XI to put together, let alone a squad of 18. Wouldn't be too surprised to see us go 5-3-2....

Schmeichel

Peltier

Mills

St. Ledger

Tunchev

Kennedy

Wellens

Danns

Dyer

Beckford

Nugent

Subs:

Smith

Taft

Konchesky

Howard

Johnson

Moussa

An academy lad

Think he'd like to give both Wellens and Konchesky a rest, but won't be able to rest Richie.

I make it that through injury or suspension or ACON or cup-tied we'll be missing:

Pantsil

Bamba

Drinkwater

Moore

Delfouneso

King

Waghorn

Gallagher

Schlupp

Vassell

And you could probably throw in Moussa and Johnson to that list.

Blimey we really are down to the bare bones, you can add Oakley to the list of out as well. Assuming Johnson and Moussa are out, that is only really Konchesky and Howard on the bench, has Berner actually gone yet? Would be great for him to have one last run out before he goes especially at home. Ironically Left Back is the only position we have covered.

Morning Foxes.

As a Swindon fan I am quite pleased to hear that you are down to the 'bare bones' however looking at some of your line ups, you should still be very strong. Mills and St Ledger look a strong CB partnership and your midfield and strikeforce is still pretty strong.

Just a quick question about your wing backs, Peltier and Tunchev? What type of players are they? Pacy? We are particularly strong down the right wing, with Ritchie and Caddis (bombing on from RB) have been our main source of attacking danger to opponents. Our left isn't quite as strong, but we do like to use the wings when we attack.

Our full backs are pretty solid, but they do get exposed when the wide midfielders don't track back, so you may get some joy doubling up on them.

Tunchev is a centreback, I would expect Konchesky to start at LB, depends if we have Dyer, very attacking, in front of him or Kennedy a LB/LW who I wuld expect to track back more, but hasn't played many games for us.

Konchesky is our left back, and Peltier is our right back, and both have been solid during the season. Due to the injuries we have, and players away, it is looking likely that we will have Kennedy in left mid, and Dyer on the right. Kennedy is predominantly a left back so will help with the tracking back, and Lloyd Dyer is fantastic at tracking back and helping his full back.

But we'd obviously rather be pushing you back and force you to defend :P

Match analysis time.....

1. Leicester

Good recent results , many changes to team possible unhinges continuity. Pattern of play diisturbed. Playing at higher level week in week out. Win expectation high, nervous fear of risk of embarrassment. Home advantage could work against if things don't go well

2 Swindon

Excellent results only 1 defeat in 22. 83 % record against higher league opposition in 6 matches this season. Away, but huge vocal support, Nothing to lose. Extremely fit side.

1-1 Replay at County Ground

We can still play 4-4-2

Kasper

Peltier Mills St Ledger Konchesky

Dyer Wellens Danns Kennedy

Beckford Nugent

Subs

Tunch

Howard

Taft

Logan

Etc..

Pearson could always have options of swapping Konchesky and Kennedy around (might work well if they agree to cover each other)

If things need changing, bring Big Stevie on a move Nugent back to either wing (swap Dyer)

We could even play St ledger RB, Tunch CB and play Peltier on the RW and Dyer LW

Thats the best side we can put out with all injuries etc. Think i saw tunch struggling to and logan cup tied ? So that leaves us with taft smith and howard maybe berner to make 4

Well,

One day to go before this game

hopefully will be a good game not sure on the score, LCFC should start as faviourites for the game Championship side and at home, howeber this is the FA cup, Swindon do not want a draw as we have a number of important games coming up in the league which is important to us

Posted

Yep, that starting line up seem pretty nailed on to me.

Don't know about the bench though, is Tunch fit enough to make the bench?

Taft will probably be on the bench, with Smith (GK) and Howard certainties.

That probably leaves us with 4 more slots to fill with:

Moussa, Oakley, Johnsson not fit.

Drinkwater, Moore and Logan cup tied, and Delfouneso not having permission from Villa.

Others are long term injuries like Schlupp, King, Waghorn and Vassell. While Bamba and Pantsil are at the ACoN.

Surely we should start to see some of the youngsters playing now we can't fill our bench? Would love somebody like Tom Hopper to be given a chance or Joseph Dodoo!

Tom Hopper should definitely be on the bench for this match.
