The Queen's visit to Leicester

Recommended Posts

I remember making our own union flags at school back in the day (1970s early 80s not sure) then standing outside in the rain on Anstey lane as ink ran down my flag waving arm as the queen did a drive by whilst waving. I hope it pours down again when she visits again so more kids can have this thrilling experience.

Now that's a skill.

lol

I hoped it would be the band too. Would certainly be a lot more interesting, exciting and relevant to most Leicesterians.

It always astounds me that those who are usually first and most passionate in exclaiming 'GOD SAVE THE QUEEN' tend to be more vocal atheists. I'm not intending to stereotype here, really :P, but I'm sure there's a correlation there!

I'm not talking specifically about this thread either, or having a dig at those in the disposition of not 'believing' (which I appear to be gradually edging towards myself) but I find it particularly ironic - especially from those who hate on religion but then pray with such passion.

There must be a thread on this somewhere but I can't find it...

Did anyone else see them today? I was in town anyway and thought I might as well stick around and see them. I got a good pic of the queen looking almost at me through the car window. Should have been on the other side of the road to get a nice closeup of Kate

Can't believe theres not a thread either. Nearly had a day off for it but didn't. Was it busy? Most of Leicester probably don't know who the Queen is.

Out of interest, how hard is it for you to be so incredibly stupid?

I might be wrong, but I would think the queen is fairly well known - might be something to do with the monarchy being quite well established in this country, to the point where her face appears on money etc. and special royal occasions (like the ****ing wedding or jubilee) result in public holidays.

I bet you weren't moaning when you got a day off work because of the wedding

One might stipulate that 'most of Leicester don't know who the Queen is' might be a swipe at the largely indifferent minority contingent of or fair city? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here stu? Wouldn't want to start off with a misrepresentation of a simple matter of interpretations of words in a post.

We are not amused.
